Madsen, Faye Averett Haymond Faye Averett Haymond Madsen was born 27 October 1911 in Springville, Utah, the second of seven children born to Birt Ruel Averett and Grace Wignall. Faye passed away gracefully on 4 December 2004 in San Diego, California. She lived in Springville most all of her life. She graduated from Springville High School in 1930, and then graduated from BYU in 1932 with a two-year Normal Degree in Elementary Education. She married Paul M. Haymond on 14 September 1933. She later married Ivan Madsen on 11 November 1966. She was preceded in death by her husbands, and by her sisters, Mabel Simkins (Ray) and Norma Child (Hardy), and by her brother Blaine Averett (Pat). Faye is survived by brothers, Ronald Averett (Artha) of Reno, NV, Gene Averett (Clara) of Springville, UT and Dean Averett (Norma Jean) of Hurricane, UT, and by all of her children: Phillip M. Haymond (Carol) of Baltimore, MD, David R. She was also the proud grandmother of 43 grandchildren, 120 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandsons. You don't have to live to be 93 to be recognized as remarkable. Faye was remarkable at each stage of her life. She inherited her father's intellectual curiosity, leading her to drive the family Model-A delivery truck to BYU campus daily, loaded with all who could hang on. She had an endless thirst for reading and learning, and was quick to accept and master each new advancement in technology. Her influence for good among her family and friends is infinite; she quietly and lovingly taught each to love reading, to participate in and love the Church, to get excited about writing their family histories, and to be good citizens. She emulated her parents' tradition of enjoying "family get-togethers" and hosted a majority of them throughout her life. Grandma Faye will be dearly missed here, but we visualize her organizing family get-togethers with her beloved family on the other side of the veil. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at the Kolob First Ward Chapel, 840 South 400 East, Springville, Utah. Sumsion, Betty Louise Boyer Betty Louise Boyer Sumsion passed away on December 4, 2004 in Orem Utah at the age of 86. She was the sixth child of Ernest M Boyer and Glida Rackstraw Boyer. Betty was born October 26 1918 in her parents home in Springville, Utah. She graduated from Springville High School in 1936 as an accomplished typist and stenographer and worked for several years as a secretary for the Eddington Canning Company in Springville. On February 17, 1939 she married her High School Sweetheart Max W Sumsion in the Salt Lake Temple. Nearly 66 years later they remain sweethearts forever. Betty was raised in a home filled with love, laughter and music. She began studying music and developing her talent to play the piano and organ at a very early age. Beginning at the age of 13 she served continuously as a Sunday school, ward or stake organist for 67 years. There were very few Sundays in those years she didn't share her beautiful talent. She was recognized as one of the best piano and organ soloist and accompanists in Springville. She also loved to sing and was a member of several women's choirs, including Singing Mothers/Relief Society choirs, Bel Canto Chorus, and the Musettes. She was a key member and officer of a local Federated Women's Music Club, which promoted the cultural enrichment of women through the study of music. She was an active member of the LDS church and in addition to providing music each Sunday she served as a Relief Society instructor and later as a member of the Stake Relief Society Board. She loved to sew, knit, do family history, read and collect spiritual thoughts, antidotes and witticisms; but most of all she loved to care for her family and friends. She loved the Lord by unconditionally loving others. She uplifted others in conversation by genuinely listening to their joys and sorrows and then provided honest and keen insights and bits of wisdom and humor. When you talked with her, you and your concerns were the center of the conversation and she made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. Upon her departing this life Betty was reunited with her parents, her sister and brother in law Lela and Fay Packard, her sister and brother in law Della and Booth Sorenson, her sister Kate Boyer, sister and brother in law Florence and Fredrick Hoffman, and her brother and sister in law Ernest M.
