Born June 8, 1921 in Centerville, Utah to Levi U. and Marie Blamires Barber. At a young age his mother passed away. Blessed with two mothers, his father married Myrtle Stimpson. He graduated from BYU with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Joy Swalberg, July 11, 1945, in the Salt Lake Temple. He served as a pilot in WWII, flying 71 bombing missions over Europe, including two on D-Day. Honorably discharged as Captain in 1952. He moved his family to Granger in 1955, where he began his career with Kennecott Copper and they have lived for the past fifty years. He retired as a specification engineer in 1982. Bob was a member of the LDS Church, serving ten years as Granger Stake President, twice as Bishop, missionary with Joy in the Salt Lake Mission and Jordan River Temple and devoted home teacher. Bob enjoyed airplanes, model trains, BYU sports, carpentry, reading, golf and family history work. His favorite time was spent with his family. Loved by all who knew him as a "kind and gentle" man. He will be missed dearly. Survived by his wife of 59 years; children, Robert (Joy) Barber, Nancy (Randy) Allen, Randa (Steve) Pickle, Thomas (Susan) Barber, Carol Blackburn, David (Shari) Barber, Tammy (Darrin) Dixon; 24 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; siblings, Carolyn Hilling, Keith Barber, Doug Barber and Joan James. Preceded in death by sister, Kathleen Barber; brother, Richard Taylor; son-in-law, Gerry Blackburn. Funeral services will be Monday, December 13, at 12:00 p.m. at the Granger 20th Ward, 2850 West 3835 South. A viewing will be Sunday, December 12 from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday one hour prior to the services. Interment, Spanish Fork Cemetery. Published in the Daily Herald on 12/11/2004. Madsen, Dawn G. Dawn G. Madsen, 84, born July 4, 1920 in Annabella, Utah to Tora and Lillie Gleave. Died Dec. 9, 2004 at Mt. View Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Nov. 5, 2004. Married Vaughn D. Madsen Oct 2, 1940 in the Manti Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church serving in many callings. Dawn is survived by her husband, Vaughn D. Madsen; Children, Susan (Dick)Bushman, Kaye Hoskins, Curtis Madsen, Kip (Sue) Madsen, Julie (Kim) Norman, a sister Gwen Stansbury; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services held in the Fairview 1st Ward Chapel, Saturday December 11, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Friends may call 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the funeral. Dawn requests no flowers, please contribute to Primary Children's Hospital in Dawn's name. Interment will be in the Fairview City Cemetery under the direction of Rasmussen Mortuary.
