Robert H. Robert Brummett, 83, slipped peacefully from this life on Saturday, December 11, 2004, due to pneumonia and its complications. Bob was born June 22, 1921, in San Mateo, California, and was adopted as a newborn by Hiram Burton and Elizabeth Hansen Brummett. He lived with his parents and his sisters, Helene and Bette, in the San Francisco Bay area until his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern States Mission, followed immediately by service in the U.S. Army during WW II. He married Mildred Leon Mason on July 13, 1945, in Lexington, Kentucky, and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple as the couple traveled back to California, following Bob's return from the Philippines. Bob earned a bachelor's degree from San Francisco State and a master's degree from the University of California - Berkeley. He taught junior and senior high school mathematics in Angels Camp, and then Santa Rosa, California for 30 years and never stopped valuing education. Bob and Mildred are the parents of five children: Linda, of Provo; Barbara (Ted) Anderson, of Peoria, Arizona; Rebecca (Mark) Garrett, of Hurricane; Patricia (Ron) Williams, of Ocean Shores, Washington; John (Margie), of Lehi. He is survived by his sister, Bette (Chuck) Dean, of Visalia, California; all five children, 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. His loving wife, Mildred, died on October 5, 1998. His parents and his sister, Helene (Newell) Christensen, also preceded him in death. The joy of Bob's life was his abiding testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and serving diligently in many church callings. Following his retirement, Bob and Mildred moved to Orem, Utah, and he found great satisfaction serving as an ordinance worker and supervisor in the Provo and Mount Timpanogos Temples. Throughout his life, he was a devoted member of his wards' choirs. Funeral services, under the direction of the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home of Orem, will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at 11 a.m., in the Vermont First Ward Chapel, 400 North and 400 East, Orem. Friends may call at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery with full Military Rites. Bob's children especially want to thank the staff and residents of Summerfield Manor in Orem where he was strengthened by their friendship and care, and to thank his kind physician, Dr. Paul Reay. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests hugging your children, taking them to see some Christmas lights, and making a donation to the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Hatch, Henson Leon Henson Leon Hatch, 74, of Pleasant Grove, returned to his Heavenly Father on December 11, 2004, of natural causes. Leon was born April 8, 1930, in Vernal, Utah, to Marion and Musetta Eaton Hatch. Leon joined the Navy on December 8, 1948, and served during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged in September, 1952, after which he worked at Geneva Steel and on the family farm. After being laid-off at Geneva, he worked for the Provo River Water Users Association. While there, he applied and was hired at the Utah State Prison in Bluffdale. He worked in several jobs, including Associate Warden, and retired on August 1, 1982. He graduated with a B. S. Degree in sociology and history from B.Y.U. in 1968. He received a master's degree in sociology and business management from the University of Utah in 1976. Leon married Shirley Rowland on June 28, 1950, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived all their married life in Pleasant Grove, where they raised their children. Leon was an active member of the LDS Church. He loved life, had patience, a big heart, and love for all! He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons: Michael Leon (Electa) Hatch, Pleasant Grove; and Donald Leland Hatch, Pleasant Grove; daughter, Janice Messersmith, Salt Lake; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; baby daughter, Kathy Lynn Hatch; sister, Marba Keetch, infant sister, Elaine Hatch; and brother, Eldon Hatch. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at 11 a.m., in the Northfield Sixth Ward Chapel, 405 West 1300 North, Pleasant Grove. Jensen, Kayden Kayden Jensen "K.C. Boo", age 14, died December 10, 2004, from injuries sustained in an auto-pedestrian accident in Eureka. He was born December 2, 1990, in Payson, Utah, to Dennis Sean and Shauna Marie Tilby Jensen. Kayden was a talented musician, playing the trumpet, drums, piano, and guitar. He was a member of the Tintic High School Marching and Pep Bands. He was a member of the Methodist church and active in Scouting. Kayden loved the outdoors. He loved to snowboard and ride motorcycles; but, especially enjoyed fishing with his Grandpa Rob. He is survived by his parents and two brothers, Christian and Brady, all of Eureka; grandparents, Robin & Marsha Tilby, Eureka; Dennis Jensen, Las Vegas; and Sherron Linford, Panguitch; great grandparents, Melda Davis, Tropic; Bert & Ethel Hone, Mesquite; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will also be missed by his friends, who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by great grandparents, Carl Lynn Tilby, Zelma Tilby, and Sherman Davis. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 14th, at 11 a.m., in the Tintic Elks Lodge on Main Street in Eureka. Published in the Daily Herald on 12/13/2004. Larsen, Lorraine Maland Lorraine Maland Larsen was born August 9, 1930, in Spanish Fork, Utah, and returned to our Father in Heaven on December 10, 2004. She was the third of four children, born to Iva Huff and Ernest Maland. She attended school in Spanish Fork and at BYU. She married Paul L. Larsen, August 16, 1950, in the Manti Temple. She held many positions in the church, including President of the ward and stake Relief Society. Among her favorite callings was teaching in the Primary and Nursery. She and Paul served a mission together in Nashville, Tennessee, and were Home Teaching companions. For many years, she served as an ordinance worker in the Provo Temple and continued this service until the time of her passing. She is survived by her husband, Paul Larsen; nine children (five sons and four daughters): Gregory Paul (Karen) Larsen, of Sandy, Utah; Rochelle (Leo) Lindquist, of Balaton, Minnesota; Kevin Maland (Taralyne) Larsen, of Orem, Utah; Leslie (Richard) Graham, of Springville, Utah; Blake Leonard (Char) Larsen, of Springville, Utah; David Scott (Lauri) Larsen, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Randall Glade (Linda) Larsen, of Spanish Fork, Utah; Millicent (Bart) Bunker, of Mapleton, Utah; Camille (Blade) Mecham, of Spanish Fork, Utah; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Wilma Rowell and Joyce Tanner. Mom had a great talent for making quilts. She made sure all her children and grandchildren received one. She was also a great cook. For birthdays and when new babies were born, she would provide a nice hot loaf of bread to friends and neighbors. Lorraine was very active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for many years and was instrumental in placing the historical plaque in front of the Mapleton White Church, where the funeral will be held. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Maxine Johnson, of Spanish For; daughter-in-law, Sandy Larsen; and grandchild, David Reed Lindquist. Special thanks to the ICU doctors and staff at Mountain View Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the White Church in Mapleton, Utah, 31 W. MacNaughtan, Warnell Warnell MacNaughtan Lehi - Warnell Gleason "Mac" MacNaughtan, 86, of Lehi, died December 11, 2004. He was born March 8, 1918, in Heber City, Utah, son of James and Emily Howarth MacNaughtan. Mac graduated from Wasatch High School with his classmates of 1936. As a young man, he worked in the Park City Mines and for the Park City Cleaners. Later, he worked with structural steel as an ironworker and was a member of Ironworkers Local 27, for 60+ years. He was proud of his trade and his associations with his "Iron-buddies." He loved his garden. His testimony of the gospel was strong and constant. He was a man of great love and spirit. He was sensitive to the needs of others, a loving husband and father. Mac is survived by his son, James; two daughters, Bonnie and Brenda, of Utah; his son, David LaMont; daughter, Mary Elizabeth, of Fresno, California. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 7 step-children, 28 step-grandchildren, 1 step great-grandson. Mac was preceded in death by his second wife, Shirley; son, Sonny, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by his wife, Diana; his nieces, nephews, and cousin, Zella Mair, and many members of his large family; and, Ida and Inky, his two pampered cats. Martenson, Brett Micheal Brett Micheal Martenson, born in Seattle, Washington, March 28, 1965, passed away peacefully, at his home in Orem, on December 9, 2004. Brett will be remembered for his love of fishing Strawberry Reservoir andthe Weber River. He alsoloved music andanimals, especially his many cats and pet bird. They loved him in return. After graduating from high school in Seattle, he attended community college in broadcasting and was aDJ in Seattle before moving to Utah. He worked at Stogie's, where he made many friends who will dearly miss him. Hewas preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother and a sister. Sumsion, Margaret May Thomas Margaret May Thomas Sumsion Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margaret Sumsion, died peacefully from congestive heart failure, December 9, 2004, at age 89. Margaret was born on May 26, 1915, in Heber City, Utah, to John Ernest and Lizzie Clyde Thomas. She married Frederick Frank Sumsion on December 8, 1936. Their marriage of 65 years was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1961. Margaret faithfully and selflessly cared for Fred with great love and devotion during his eleven-year battle with Parkinson's Disease and strokes. Margaret was his primary caregiver, providing a wonderful example of marital love to her family. Margaret was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many positions, including ward and stake Relief Society President, and fulfilled many teaching assignments. Her great examples and a firm testimony of the gospel were an inspiration to her family and many friends. She was very generous with her time and means. She was a wonderful homemaker and never wasted a minute. She was known for her wonderful meals, served on clean, white linen, china and crystal. She would let the grandchildren "help" knead the bread dough and continued making "Grandma's" rolls long after she lost most of her eyesight. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; daughter, Madeline; three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children: Frank Sumsion Jr. (Earla Gay), Ann Clarke (Wayne), Ernest Ray Sumsion (Terri), Mark Thomas Sumsion (Jan), son-in-law, James Westover; and brother, Oran Thomas (Louise); plus twenty-two grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank all those who helped Mom in her later years: her boys in the basement; her 12th ward friends who continued to visit her; her friends and staff at "Cove Point;" her physician, Dr. Vaughn Welch; and the compassionate employees of Harmony Health and Hospice, who provided her with loving care to the end. Viewings will be held at Berg Mortuary (185 E. Center Street, Provo), Friday evening, December 17, from 6:30-8:00 p.m.; and, Saturday morning, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Funeral services will also be at Berg Mortuary and will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 18. Interment at the Evergreen Cemetery (1997 South 400 East, in Springville) will follow the funeral.
