She was born July 11, 1927, in Herning, Denmark, to Jens Christian and Tahora Andrea Hall Mouritsen. Mariane emigrated to the United States in 1965, and lived in the San Francisco area. She moved to Pleasant Grove, Utah, in 1968, for about two years when she married Henry Elmer and moved to Birdseye. In 1977 she moved to Provo where she bought a house and worked as a cook at the Utah Valley Hospital until her retirement in 1988. In 2001 Mariane moved into a relatives home in Salt Lake City when she was too ill to take care of herself. Mariane will be greatly missed. She leaves behind two sisters-in-law, 11 nieces and nephews, plus 26 grand-nieces and nephews. She was a loving and important member of our family. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2004 - 10:00 A.M. in the Union Park 7th LDS Ward, 7500 South 700 East, Midvale. Hofheins, Cloyd C. Cloyd C. Hofheins passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, December 27, 2004. He was born on November 17, 1924 in Levan, Utah to Clarence Lee Hofheins and Minnie Elease Hofheins, the third of six children. He attended Salt Lake City public schools and graduated from West High School in 1942. He continued his education at the University of Utah where he courted and married his High School sweetheart Lucile Joan Lloyd. He received a Baccalaureate degree in Biological Sciences and finished a Medical Doctorate in 1948. He was successful in a wide range of private and military professional positions and activities. He was admired by patients and colleagues alike. As the Director of the Student Health Center at Brigham Young University, he initiated programs that benefited countless students. He retired from full-time medical practice in 1988. His love was his family. As a father of seven sons and three daughters, he supported his children in all of their endeavors including education, sports, music, and business. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he diligently fulfilled many callings and with his wife served medical missions to the Philippines, Brazil and an LDS Social Service mission in Utah. He was preceded in death by his oldest son Steven. He is survived by his wife Joan, and his children Christine (John Donaldson), Bryan (Arden), Carolyn (Fred Howard), Timothy (RuthAnn), Leonard (Deborah), Lucile (Allen Anderson), Gordon (Rebecca), Clarence (Kristyn), and Nathan (Lisa). His brother Grant A. (Carol) Hofheins, sister Joanne (Stan Vaughn), 47 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillside LDS Chapel, 1960 North 1500 East, Provo, Utah. Born August 11, 1916, Hennifer, Utah, married Lyman LaVere Kidman October 28, 1936 in the Salt Lake Temple. Lived in Hennifer, Salt Lake City, Pocatello, Idaho, Logan, Hyrum, Holliday, Riverdale, Spanish Fork and St. George, Utah. She was educated in Salt Lake City being one of the first class to graduate from South High School. Studied at Excelsis Beauty School while working as a cashier in two movie theaters in Salt Lake, opened her own beauty shop in Salt Lake City and worked as a medical receptionist in Pocatello. Served as a helpmeet to her husband in his business activities. She loved to knit, crochet and quilt. Her greatest love was spending time with her family at home or at Pine View Reservoir and at Lake Powell. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in which she served as a teacher and for many years as Relief Society president. Survived by her husband and four sons, Gary (Donna) Kidman, St. George, Utah; Richard (Shauna) Kidman, Page Arizona; Dennis (LaVonya) Kidman, Idaho Falls, Idaho and Brent (Kayleen) Kidman, Spanish Fork, Utah. Blessed with 24 wonderful grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. Also Survived by two brothers, Marvin O'Brien (Elaine) of Redding, California, Keith O'Brien of Salt Lake City, Utah and Beverly (Gary) Fein of St. George, Utah. Preceded her in death by her parents, brother Ralph, niece Jackie and great-granddaughter McKayla. Published in the Daily Herald from 12/29/2004 - 12/30/2004. Lassiter, Ralph Donald Ralph Donald Lassiter passed away the morning of Sunday, December 26, 2004 at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 4, 1940 to Ralph Donald Lassiter and Venla Sorenson in Bancroft, Idaho. Ralph is survived by his six wonderful children: Ben (Jennifer) Lassiter of Saratoga Springs, Lori (Paul) Helton of Springville, Luke (Tiffany) Lassiter of Springville, Jill (Bret) Erickson of Mapleton, Emily (Matthew) Baker of Provo, and Amy Lassiter of Springville. He is also survived by his ex-wife's: Judy Lay (of 27 years) of Mona, and Janet Lassiter (of 5 years) of Orem). Ralph has two sisters of Boise, Idaho: Louise Mencer and Sherry Lloyd; and three brothers: Sonny Shreve, Orie Shreve, and Gerald Dean Greer. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Kelsey and Andrew (Jimmy) Lassiter, Hailey Helton and Cody Erickson. Ralph was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Donald Lassiter; step-father, Henry Shreve; and mother, Venla Sorenson Shreve. Ralph served a mission in the Cook Islands for almost three years. He married Judy in 1970 in the Los Angeles Temple. He graduated from BYU in accounting and worked for the "Y" for 31 years. He has always been an excellent athlete and coached all of his kids in baseball, basketball, and soccer in Springville. His family loves him so much! He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh, which he did all the time at home. We would like to thank Dr. Robert Taylor, Dr. Brian Tudor, and Shirley Ellsworth for their many years of service and care for dad. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 31, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 672 North 250 West, Springville. Lee, Anna Dorothea Andreasen Anna Dorothea Andreasen Lee, 91 of Mapleton, passed away Monday, December 27, 2004. She was born December 15, 1913 in Elwood, Utah to Casper Andreasen and Caroline Anderson Andreasen. She married Kelsey Lee February 8, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Dorothea taught in both Sunday School and Primary. She served as Relief Society work director and second counselor in the Relief Society as well as visiting teacher for 58 years. She served as librarian and kept the missionary book for the Mapleton Stake for 13 years. Dorothea was a member of the D.U.P. camp union. Her hobbies were flowers and houseplants, crocheting lace handkerchiefs and doilies. She also quilted for many years. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Lee Losee of Mapleton; three grandchildren: Terri (Michael) Simpson of Spanish Fork, David Losee of Sandy, and Mike Losee of Leggett, CA. She also has nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters as she was the youngest in a family of 10 children. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the Mapleton North Stake Center at 475 North 1600 West in Mapleton. There will be a viewing Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 82 West 400 North in Mapleton at Thursday at the church one hour prior to the services. Provstgaard, Richard (Dick) Richard (Dick) Provstgaard passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones, on Monday, December 27, 2004. He fought a courageous battle with cancer. His passing will leave a great void in our family. Dick was born on May 12, 1937 to Don and Burl Frost Provstgaard in Payson, Utah. He attended Peteetneet Elementary School, Payson Jr. High and graduated from Payson High School in 1955. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. He married his high school sweetheart, Marian Jermain, on September 17, 1955 in Payson. They are the parents of three daughters and three sons. He worked as a drywall contractor for 40 years. He loved to farm, hunt, fish and spend time with his family. He is survived by: his wife, Marian; five children, Bobbie Dawn (Kevin) Norton, Orem; Chris (Debbie) Provstgaard, Payson; Bart (Stacy) Provstgaard, Santaquin; Greg (Hillary) Provstgaard, Silverton, Oregon; Michele (Bryan) Smith, Kelso, Washington; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother and two sisters, Robert Provstgaard, Murray; Peggy Warr, Ogden; and Mary Lou (Boyd) Johnson, Springville. Waiting to greet him on the other side are his parents, Don and Burl Provstgaard, and infant daughter, Stepahnie. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 30, 2004, 12:00 noon, at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, where friends may call Wednesday, 6-8:00 p.m. and Thursday, one hour prior to services. Thurman, Jeane Lucille Jeane Lucille Thurman, 79, a long time resident of Orem, and Provo, Utah died December 25, 2004 after a long battle with Alzheimer's in Annapolis, Maryland. She has been living with and cared for by her daughter Janice Mott Wilson in Annapolis, Maryland, since 1997. She was born April 16, 1925 in Trinidad, Colorado, a daughter of John & Lucille Myers and raised on the Myers Farm and Cattle Ranch in Hoehne, Colorado. She married Joe Ben Thurman on June 14, 1946 in Fort Collins, Colorado who preceded her in death in 1978. He was a prominent Veterinarian in Orem, Utah for about 30 years. She was a member of the Orem Community Congregational Church and later converted to the LDS Church. She was a member of the Grandview 7th Ward which is now the Grandview 4th Ward in Provo, Utah. In Annapolis, Maryland she attended the Broadneck Ward and Severna Park Wards of the LDS Church. She held positions and was a contributing member of the churches she attended. She graduated from the Las Animas County High School in Colorado with a graduating class of 21 students. She also was a student at Colorado State University in Fort Collins where she met her husband. Jeane was a member of the Utah Alcoholism Foundation, American Veterinarian Association of Utah County and Utah State. She was involved with the Girl and Boy Scouts of America, worked in the PTA, was a homemaker and assisted her husband in his career. In her later years she worked for Burrelles Press Clipping Service for about 12 years. In 1997 she was given a retirement party from Burrelle's at age 72. Survivors include her children, John A. Thurman of Fairfax, Virginia, Lynn & Joene (Thurman) Cluff of Woodland, California, and Mark & Janice (Thurman) Mott Wilson of Annapolis, Maryland; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; her sister Alberta Hargrove of Salem, Oregon. Her brother George Myers of Raton, New Mexico preceded her in death in June 2003. Visitation will be Thursday, December 30, 2004 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at which time services will be held at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary in Orem.
