Verdin was born in Escalante, Utah, April 20, 1914, to Don Carlos and Elizabeth Armelia Wilcock Liston.His mother died when he was just 5 years old.His father married Hazel Riddle. They moved to Cedar City when Verdin was in his 3rd year of high school.He graduated from high school in Cedar City and also graduated from the junior college, which was known at that time as the B.A. C.(Branch Agricultural College).There, he met his sweetheart, Marie Hall. They were married November 26, 1935, in the St. George Temple.They moved to Orem to 934 South 800 East, where they resided for over 60 years until they moved over to their present home on the family farm. He was a cement finisher, a carpenter, and a home builder. Many families will remember him as the man they got their Christmas tree and pine nuts from.Most of all, Verdin was an artist. He made many beautiful things out of rock and wood, which he shared with others when they came to visit. All his posterity has a rock clock and a sphere to remember him by. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, and their seven children: Sandra (Kendall) Baker, Paul (Patty) Liston, Spanish Fork; Sherril (Sherry) Liston, Joyce Groom, Orem; Elaine (Joseph) Ford, Lehi; Larry (Madelyn) Liston, Payson; Janice (Delwin) Hemingway, Hollister, CA.; 40 grandchildren, and 70 great grandchildren.He is also survived by his only sister, Myrth Burr, Provo. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the Hillcrest 8th Ward Chapel,1035 South 800 East, Orem. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State, Orem; and, Tuesday, from 10-10:45 a.m., at the church prior to the services.Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery. Markham, Bradley Dixon Bradley Dixon Markham, age 20, wonderful, gentle son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and incredible friend passed unexpectedly from this life, Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at his home. He was born June 23, 1984 (on Grandma Juneces Birthday) to Kevin and Lisa Markham in Richmond, Virginia. Bradley was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.He was an Eagle Scout.He attended Provo Schools and graduated from Provo High School, where he had excelled in sports. He loved his football teammates and coaches.He was currently attending UVSC, studying pre-medicine, with dreams of entering the medical field. He worked as a dental assistant in his fathers pediatric practice and was affectionately known as the big bear .He will be sorely missed by the young patients whose lives he touched. Bradleys life was full of adventure.He lived and loved life fully. His greatest passions were times spent with his family, including Lake Powell houseboat vacations, Gustavus, Alaska, fishing trips and motorcycling in Southern Utah with his dad and friends. His marvelous quick wit and sense of humor entertained and delighted all who were privileged to know him.Our family feels a tremendous void because of his passing.Bradley, we love you and youll be in our hearts forever. We would like to thank all the medical doctors who have given exceptional care and love to our son during the past 2 years.Your efforts have been greatly appreciated by our family. Nash, Inez Emma Newell Boulter Inez Emma Newell Boulter Nash passed away Thursday, November 11, 2004, in Cedar Hills, Utah, at the age of 94. Through the graciousness of the Lord, Inez has filled her mission here on earth, with diligence and love for the Savior and His Gospel. She has no further need to tarry in mortality and has returned to her creator with eagerness to meet loved ones and continue her services through the eternities. Inez was born February 17, 1910, in Orem, Utah, to Arthur and Ella Millet Newell. She married Kendall William Boulter (Tom) on December 26, 1928, and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Tom died June 6, 1947.Seven years later, she married Fred Nash on March 26, 1954. She has served in many organizations in the LDS Church, especially Relief Society, and also served three missions: Ohio/Tennessee, St. George, Utah, and Florida. Inez was preceded in death by Kendall Boulter; Fred Nash; a daughter, Lois; a son, Kendall; her parents, seven siblings, and Lynn Nash.She is survived by two sons, Kay and Terry Boulter; Fred Nashs children: LaDene Hoglund, Carol Lund Carr, and Fred K. Nash; two sisters, Bernice and Arthella Dearing, 25 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Her family was her first love and concern, then neighbors and friends. She loved life and enjoyed studying the gospel principles and helping others to be happy. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at 1 p.m., at the Manila Ninth Ward Chapel, 1270 W. 3540 North in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Nelson, Maxine Dover LEHI ¥ Maxine Dover Nelson passed away November 12, 2004, in Provo, Utah, at the age of 81. Maxine was born January 11, 1923, in Los Angeles, California to Wilford and Inez Harris Dover. She grew up in the Los Angeles area as the second child and only daughter. She was married to Josiah Earl Nelson, March 12, 1948, and spent the next years of her life raising her three children and in service of her church. The last years of her life were spent tirelessly searching for her roots, doing what she felt was her lifes work ¥ genealogy. She is survived by her three children: Kathryn Suzanne (John) Brake, Nancy Ellen (Randy) Julian, and Daniel Earl Nelson; eight grandchildren: Sean Thomas Brake, Jennifer Brake, Mathew Brake, Derek Olds, Virginia Nelson, Jesse Nelson, Jacob Nelson, and Rachel Nelson, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at 10 a.m., in the Lehi East Stake Center Chapel, 900 N. 1200 East. Painter, Reese NEPHI ¥ Leslie Reese Painter, age 91, our loving father and grandfather, passed away peacefully, November 12, 2004, at his home in Nephi, Utah, surrounded by his children and grandchildren, as he went home to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father and his eternal companion. He was born May 24, 1913, in Levan, Utah, to Charles Alfred and Persis Hughgene Rudd Painter. He spent his early years in Levan and attended the Levan School. He worked with his father on the family farm and also on the WPA. In 1941, he was one of the first young men drafted into the Army from the Juab area. He served in WWII as a Medic at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. He married Maxine Sperry on June 13, 1942, at Fort Lewis, Washington. Upon his release from the army, they returned home to Levan. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on June 13, 1959. He was one of the original founders of the Painter Motor Company, which was started in 1945. He and his brother, Fred, worked together for many years. Painter Motor is still in business today. Reese worked on the Utah State Road for fourteen years. He enjoyed working with the men and made lasting friendships with them. After his retirement, he continued to farm, raise cattle, and restore vintage cars. One of his favorite pastimes was restoring old homes with his sons and grandsons. Dad loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent many hours reading, playing cards, and coloring with them. He was the patriarch of a very special family and was respected by all of us. Dad was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. Survived by his five children: Blair (Susan), Duane (Diana), Donna (Loren) Callaway, Robert (Beverly), and Kathryn, all of Nephi; nineteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, of 59 years; parents; brothers: Fred, LaRaine, Henry, Charles; sisters: Sadie Bowers, Nina Chappel, Deon Phillipsen, and Edna Painter. A special thanks to Janet Johnson for the care she provided our father. Her kindness will forever be appreciated. Additional thanks to Eileen Edwards, and the home health care and hospice providers. Ned Tennis Ned Poulson, 72, went home to his Heavenly Father, November 13, 2004, surrounded by those who loved him most and those whom he loved most.He was born March 18, 1932, in Duchesne, Utah, to Tennis Alma and Fern Adell Osborn Poulson.The family moved to Orem in 1948, where Dad graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950.He married his high school sweetheart, Eunice Nuttall, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 26, 1951.Eunice preceded him in death in 1994. He later married Evelyn Muir Miles, a friend he had not seen since their early school days in Duchesne. Dad has been a member of the Utah Firemans Association for 42 years and served on the Mapleton Fire Department for most of those years.Dad served as Elders Quorum President, was a councilor under three consecutive bishops for 11 years, and was then Bishop for the Mapleton 2nd Ward for five years. He then served as a Stake High Councilman for many years. Dads name is almost synonymous with Bennion Creek.He worked hundreds of hours in the development of the campground. Dad loved the outdoors, he spent much of his time in his yard and gardens.Some of his most enjoyable times have been while camping with his sons and grandsons during the elk and deer hunt seasons.For many years, he took his family camping to Moon Lake; and, the tradition will continue along with the memories. Dad is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and six children: Annette (Dale) Hoyt of Bunkerville, NV; Mark (Paula) of Springville; Raymond (Christine) of Brigham City; Alan (Diane) of Springville; Marvin (Monti) of Orem; and Maxine (Robert) Bona of Springville.He is also survived by 29 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Vonzaa (Doug) Stubbs; three stepchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife, and one sister, LaDene Donnell. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at 11 a.m., in the Mapleton Red LDS Church located at 1215 North 1000 West, Mapleton.Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville; and, 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to services at the church.Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
