She was born October 1, 1922 in Springville Utah, to Arnold Glen and Freda Evelyn Johnson Harrison. She married Wesley George Dever in Los Angeles, CA. He preceded her in death. Fern Later married Ralph Lee Allen March 29, 1958 in Las Vegas Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles L.D.S. Temple. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to travel, bowl and cook. Her greatest loves were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved and was an active member of the Relief Society. She is survived by her husband Ralph Lee Allen of Salem Utah; one sister, Evelyn Marie Henniger (Stan) of California; children Dolly (Larry) Ostler, Patsy (Gus) Orellana, Darlene (Martin) Houck, Arlene Murray, Danny Lee (Leah) Dever, Wesley George (Toni) Dever; 25 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Thursday November 18, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Salem Utah West Stake Center, 695 South 300 West Salem. Campbell, Gertrude Valate Bagnell Coates Gertrude Valate Bagnell Coates Campbell Gertrude Valate Bagnell Coates Campbell, age 94, passed away Nov. 14, 2004 in Bountiful, Utah due to natural causes. She was born June 8, 1910 in Coalville, Utah, to William and Gertrude Valate Bagnell. She married Luther Carlos Coates on Sep. 12, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Dec. 28, 1983. She later married Reed Campbell. She was a LDS stake seamstress, held many callings in the church and especially loved Relief Society. She loved to crochet, quilt, and make doilies to give away to friends and relatives. Survived by a son, Verl B. (Sharon) Coates, Tooele; 2 daughters, Janice (Lavon) Bullock, Midvale; Lorna (Richard) Kieffer, Bountiful; 8 step-children; 16 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and 1 brother, Jake Bagnell. Preceded in death by 2 husbands; 2 children, Carlyn and Vaughn; 1 grandchild, Bruce Dansie; 5 brothers; and 3 sisters. Carlile, Michele Michele Carlile Our loving wife, mom, grandma Michele Maureen Blake Carlile, age 50 passed away on Nov. 14, 2004 in Salt Lake City as a result of blood cancer. Michele was born on Aug. 5, 1954 in Long Beach, California to John And Josephine Hessel Blake. She married Richard Carlile on April 17, 1975 in the Provo LDS Temple. For the past 11 years Michele had been working as a Media Specialist at the NUES Center. She adored her family and appreciated her many friends and neighbors. During her life she served faithfully in her church callings. Survived by her husband; Richard of Heber; children; Blake (Mary Ann) of Denver; Christie (Charles) Balch of Ogden; Nolan of Logan and Anne of Heber. 2 grandchildren; Brielle and Brooke. 3 sisters. Chipman, Stephen McKinney Stephen McKinney Chipman "Mack" Stephen McKinney Chipman, 68, returned to his heavenly home Nov 14, 2004. He was born in Ferron, Utah to Ralph Southwick and Mary Kaziah McKinney Chipman, Apr 7, 1936 but grew up in American Fork. He married Rosemarie Schmidt on June 23, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. Served as a water master, bus driver and taught 6th grade for 7 years. Loved the outdoors and was active in sports, farming and livestock. He was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his family. Active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings including as a Bishop, as a missionary in Western States Mission and with his wife in the Springfield, Missouri Mission and most recently as a temple worker in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. Survived by his wife, 4 sons and 4 daughters: Alan (Tammy) Chipman; Brian (Brenda) Chipman; Calvin (Tisha) Chipman; Darin (Kristin) Chipman; Elaine (John) Watson; Francine (Todd) Carter; Gaylyn (Brent) Worthington; Heidi (Casey) Mitchell; 26 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; and a sister Helen Hatch. Fisher, David Merrill David Merrill Fisher David Merrill Fisher, 94, a resident of Pleasant Grove, UT and formerly of Missoula, MT and Fort Wayne, IN, died on Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 at Beehive Home in American Fork, Utah. A retired university professor from the University of Montana at Missoula and the Purdue-Indiana University extension in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Was formerly the Managing Director of the Ft. Wayne Civic Theater. Before WWII he served in the Utah National Guard and was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served a mission in the Northwestern States Mission. He was a graduate of LDS High School, University of Utah and Ball State University. Born on December 25, 1909 in Salt Lake City. He was the son of Joseph Armstrong Fisher, a Utah pioneer and Margaret May Merrill. On October 20, 1938, at Kaysville, Utah, he married Dorothy Gay Hood who preceded him in death on April 5, 1987. On February 11, 1989 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he married Mary Christina Millan who survives at home in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He is survived by a sister Bathsheba Robeson of Salt Lake; son, David Merrill (Jacqueline) Fisher Jr. serving as senior missionaries at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; daughter, Gaye (Lou) Blize; Missoula, MT; son, Richard (Beth) Hood, Rockport Center, Long Island, NY; Eight grandchildren, Seven great grand children and eleven nieces and nephews. Sister-in-law Ruth Fisher. He is also survived by Mary's children; Grace (Donald) Campbell, Victor (Nancy) Stark, Frank (Carol) Stark, and Christopher (Judy) Stark. Eight grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Richards, Cathleen Whitlock Cathleen Whitlock Richards 5/11/1945 - 11/14/2004 Our beloved mother and grandmother, Cathleen Whitlock Richards, age 59, passed quietly away November 14, 2004, surrounded by her family, as a result of complications following surgery. Cathy was born May 11, 1945 to Royal Carl Whitlock and Geraldine Rosenvall Whitlock in Bennettsville, South Carolina and raised in Gunnison, Utah. She married Dr. Paul Burton Richards on January 28, 1967 in the Manti Temple and together they were the parents of one daughter and five sons. Cathy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She devoted many years to tutoring and teaching disabled children. Cathy loved reading and was well versed. She always took time out from whatever she was doing to listen to and counsel her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her five sons: Robert (Stephanie) of American Fork, Mark (Emily) of Draper, Bryan (Rachel) of Sandy, Stephen (Denise) of Riverton, and Michael of Draper; ten grandchildren: Brittney, Shey, Kinsey, Gabrielle, Joshua, Abbey, Benjamin, Dax, Paul, and Nicholas; mother: Geraldine (Robert Larson) of Gunnison; and brother: Carl of Gunnison. She was preceded in death by her father, Royal, and her daughter, Teresa. She was born May 17, 1934 to Reed and Ileen Rebecca Neilsen Reynolds in Widtsoe, Utah. She grew up in Benjamin and graduated from Spanish Fork High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at Kimball Electronic's for 25 years before she retired. She loved dancing and traveling and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as a Librarian in the church. She is survived by her three children, son Brian (Puyong) Ashby, son Kent (Cindy) Ashby and daughter, DeAnn (Brent) Riggs, a sister, Faye R. (Richard) Moore, brother's, Jerry (Lynette) Reynolds, Lindon (Joy) Reynolds, and Boyd (Janet) Reynolds. Carol has 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Benjamin Ward. Published in the Daily Herald on 11/16/2004. Stiffler-Cook, Anna Mae (Micki) Anna Mae (Micki) Stiffler-Cook Micki passed away peacefully early Sunday morning at Orem Timpanogos Hospital. She was loved by us all and will be deeply missed. Born March 15, 1922 in Windber, PA to Harry C and Mary E Custer. Micki married John Stiffler on June 14, 1943. John died Oct 23, 1973. She married Arnold C. Cook January 3, 1990. Micki was active and spent time working at St Mark's Lutheran Church in Provo, UT. She played the organ for church, was the choir director and helped John with music for the Sunday School. She never stopped talking about starting another parochial school at St. Mark's. She enjoyed painting, quilting, crocheting, working in the garden and most of all her music. She played the organ, piano, and her new guitar. She passed her love and care for animals on to her daughter and granddaughter, and always shared her laughs and giggles with everyone, right through her last days with us. Her greatest joy was her three generations of daughters and her wonderful new great-granddaughter Caymien Olivia. She had a big part in raising her granddaughter Carissa, and will be greatly missed by her. Preceded in death by her first husband John, 2 sisters and 5 brothers. Survived by her husband Arnold, 3 sisters, 2 daughters Deborah (Hinman), Karen (Smith), 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Wallace 1956 ~ 2004 Wayne Loyd Wallace, age 48, passed away November 11, 2004, in Salt Lake City, Utah, due to complications following an accident. Born May 21, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Homer L. Wallace, Jr., and Treva Lance Hales. Married Connie Douglas on May 20, 1978, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Wayne "Gator" graduated from Dugway High School in 1974. He worked in the petroleum industry for many years. Survived by his wife; his mother and step-father, Doug Hales; a brother, Bruce (Debra); a nephew and two nieces; two step-brothers; a step-sister; and his beloved pet, Wiley. Preceded in death by his father, and a step-brother. Westphal, Mark Craig Mark Craig Westphal Mark Craig Westphal, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, November 13, 2004, at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. He was born March 27, 1952 in Provo, Utah to Roy and Norma Westphal. He married Gloria Curtis on September 10, 1977 in Springville. Mark managed the local Hi-Spot Drive-ins for many years. He began his career working as an insurance agent in 1989. In 1996, Mark and Gloria began their own insurance agency, C & W Premier, located in Orem, which has grown into a successful family business. Mark had the unique ability to make everyone around him feel of worth, and put everyone at ease with his knowledge and self confidence. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, their sons Shawn, 22, and Kasey, 17; his mother, Norma Westphal, and one brother, Steve Westphal. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy, his brother, Brent, and his father and mother-in-law, Don and Goldie Curtis. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and associates.
