He was born February 7, 1931, in Portland, Oregon, to Franklin Lufkin and Lovenia Ellen Miller Davenport. Howard's family moved to Provo, Utah, when he was eight years old. He attended Timpanogos Elementary School, Dixon Jr. High and graduated from Provo High School in 1949. As a young man he built race cars that were raced at the Bonneville Salt Flats. In 1952 he married Janice Spencer. They later divorced. On June 24, 1960, he married Dee Ann Adamson in the Salt Lake Temple. He attended BYU for one year, then went to work at Geneva Steel for a summer and stayed 37 years. He was a member of the Army National Guard - 28-932720 118th Engineer Co. - American Fork - for three years and 28-932720 116th Engineer Co. - Springville - for three years. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, serving in many positions over the years. He was a jack-of-all-trades' handy man. He loved to garden and many people enjoyed receiving the vegetables he grew. He hunted, reloaded his own gun shells, collected guns and rode his motorcycle out in the west desert. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dee Ann, a son, Terry Davenport, three daughters, Shar (Richard) Christensen, Colette (Cory) Nielson, Deniece (Jared) Oates, 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, one brother, Edmund (Sharlene) Davenport and one sister, Alice (Paul) Wright and many loving nieces, and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law and one brother, Byron. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 22, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sharon Park 1st Ward, 310 North 100 East, Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held in his honor, Sunday, November 21st, 2004, at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, and at the Sharon Park 1st Ward one hour prior to the services. Farnworth, Joan Rebecca Joan Rebecca "Becky" Farnworth Joan Rebecca "Becky" Farnworth returned home to her Heavenly Father and the welcoming arms of her mother and father, Monday, November 15, 2004. She was born December 22, 1940, in Provo, Utah. She married Virgil Steggell on April 16, 1958. They were later divorced. She had a big heart, full of love for all those around her. The great loves of her life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. We will all miss her great smile and loving eyes. Joan loved music and had a special gift for playing the organ and piano. Her hobbies included traveling and helping the needy. She had a special testimony and loved the gospel. She is survived by three sons and three daughters: Ty Farnworth, Virgil Steggell, Rob (Virginia) Steggell, Teressa (Franciso) Sanchez, Cindy Childs, and Georgianna Kinkle; her brother, Blaine (Merlene) Farnworth; her sisters: Rita Hales, Eileen (Dale) Bott; 20 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, Burt and Bryron "Mugs" Farnworth; and a grandson, Cody Steggell Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 23, at 11 a.m., in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, where friends and family may call Monday from 6-8 p.m.; and Tuesday morning, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Published in the Daily Herald on 11/21/2004. Ivory, Jean Crowther Jean Crowther Ivory Jean Crowther Ivory, 90, passed away peacefully, November 19, 2004, at her home in Springville, Utah. She was born December 14, 1913, in Fountain Green, Utah, to Thomas James and Sarah Johanna Petersen Crowther. She married Howard Murel Ivory, December 29, 1934, in Salt Lake City, and they were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple, January 4, 1935. Howard died July 15, 1996. Jean was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully all her life in many organizations. She loved music and was a member of the Musettes for 22 years. She loved being with her family and enjoyed a good party. She made many quilts, porcelain dolls, and was a wonderful cook. She is survived by two sons and four daughters: Thomas (JoAnn) Ivory, Springville; Keith (Pat) Ivory, St. George; Maurine (Larsen) Boyer, Springville; Mary (Philip) Brown, Murray; Karma (Craig) Karren, Bountiful; Kathryn Stokes, Springville; 26 grandchildren and 72 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dora Spencer, Bountiful. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Howard; a granddaughter, Brooke Karren; two brothers and four sisters. She will be missed by all of her family and friends, numerous nieces and nephews; but, is rejoicing with her husband, parents, and others. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 24, at 11 a.m., in the Spring Creek South 9th Ward, 55 North Main Street, Springville. O'Connor, Johnny Ray Johnny Ray O'Connor Our beloved Husband, Father, and grandfather, age 59, returned home to Heavenly Father, and parents on Friday November 19th, 2004. He has gone to paint murals in heaven and build a mansion for the rest of his family. Johnny was born to Timothy Ray and Ilora Block O'Connor on August 18th, 1945, in Globe, AZ. Johnny was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in the Hill Cumorah mission. He returned home and graduated from Northern Arizona University. Johnny married Martha Joann Montgomery in the Mesa Temple on January 27th, 1968. Johnny could often be seen painting, building, designing, reading, fathering, telling stories to his grandchildren, and serving everyone in which he came in contact. Johnny is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Martha, children, Reid (Sae) O'Connor, Jason (Susan) O'Connor, Joseph Aaron O'Connor, Boyd (Jessica) O'Connor, Maureen (James) Crismon, Merideth O'Connor, and ten grandchildren. Zobell, LaMar James LaMar James "Jim" Zobell LaMar James "Jim" Zobell, 81, of Provo, died peacefully in his sleep on November 19, 2004, at the Trinity Mission Health and Rehab of Provo. He was born October 22, 1923, a son of Oluf Homer and Marie Johanna Christensen Zobell in Provo, Utah. LaMar was a member of the LDS Church and graduated from LDS Seminary on May 11, 1941, and from Lincoln High School on May 14, 1942. LaMar served his country in the US Army during World War II. LaMar later became a painter for Rasmussen Paint Co. He loved animals and enjoyed playing music. He played by ear and was self taught on the piano and organ. Survivors include two sisters: Florence Elenora (Charles Robert) Gossard, of Orem; Maurine Hazel Ivie, of Orem; and also, a special nephew and niece, Larry and Michelle Ivie. Jim spent the last few years of his life in their care. Jim held a special place in their hearts. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Delroy Homer Zobell; a sister, Elda Marie Zobell; and a brother-in-law, Wendell Raymond Ivie. Jim's family would like to thank the staff and residents at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab Center in Provo for the loving care and kindness they showed to Jim during his stay there. Services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at 11 a.m., at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary 495 South State Street, in Orem. Family and friends may call from 9:45 -10:45 a.m. before the services. Burial will follow at Orem City Cemetery, with Military Rites performed by District #4 of the VFW.
