She was born December 22, 1940, in Provo, Utah, to Byron E. and Grace Walker Farnworth. She married Virgil Steggell on April 16, 1958. They were later divorced. She had a big heart, full of love for all those around her. The great loves of her life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. We will all miss her great smile and loving eyes. Joan loved music and had a special gift for playing the organ and piano. Her hobbies included traveling and helping the needy. She had a special testimony and loved the gospel. She is survived by three sons and three daughters: Ty Farnworth, Virgil Steggell, Rob (Virginia) Steggell, Teressa (Franciso) Sanchez, Cindy Childs, and Georgianna Kinkle; her brother, Blaine (Merlene) Farnworth; her sisters, Rita Hales, Eileen (Dale) Bott; 20 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Burt and Byron "Mugs" Farnworth; and a grandson, Cody Steggell Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 23, at 11 a.m., in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, where friends and family may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.; and, Tuesday morning, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to East Lake Care Center and her many, many friends there, especially her patio buddies. Killpack, Dean Williams Dean Williams Killpack Our kind, gentle, and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Dean Williams Killpack, passed away November 21, 2004, at the age of 88. He was born in Ferron, Utah, July 8, 1916, to Llewelyn and Eva Williams Killpack. He married Fawn Christensen, August 2, 1941, in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized October 9, 1953, in the Manti LDS Temple. Dean graduated from South Emery High School in Ferron. He attended college at Southern Utah State College in Cedar City, and BYU in Provo. Dean was a captain and pilot in the Air Force in World War II and the Korean War. He flew transport planes over the Himalayan Mountains from India & Burma to China. He taught high school at South Emery High School in Ferron, and Diesel Mechanics for 18 years at UVSC in Provo and Orem. He was a heavy-duty mechanic on road construction for Whiting & Haymand, Fife Construction, and Staker Paving. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding the position of High Priest and 2nd Councilor to the High Priest Group Leader. He was also a home teacher and went to the temple regularly with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Fawn; and two sons: Roger and Sandra Killpack and family, of Ferron, Utah; and Scott and Vickie Killpack and family, of Orem; two brothers: Ben, of Castle Dale; and Dwight, of Ferron. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Billy Dale, June, Kent, Max, and Dr. James L.; two sons: one at birth, and Don L. Killpack, who passed away on November 14, 1992. Brief funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at 10 a.m., in the Wheeler Mortuary chapel located at 211 East 200 South, Springville. Friends and family may call on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary; or, one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Ferron City Cemetery. Stringham, Marelda Sturgill Marelda Sturgill Stringham "101 Years" Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marelda Sturgill Stringham, age 101, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2004. Marelda was born June 14, 1903, to John Isaac and Mary Stevenson Sturgill in Baker City, Oregon. She married Walter J. Stringham on June 29, 1927. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. They had two daughters, Marcia (Ted) Wight, of Provo, and Barbara (Russ) Peterson of Fruit Heights, Utah. Marelda was a wonderful homemaker, cook, gardener, musician, and teacher. She was very active in the community of Elgin, Oregon, where she and Walter owned and operated the City Drug Store until 1965, when they moved to Orem, Utah. She was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge affiliate, Order of the Eastern Star. After joining the LDS Church in 1950, she held many leadership positions and contributed greatly with her teaching and musical abilities, and she and Walter served a stake mission. He preceded her in death in 1970, leaving her widowed for 34 years. During that time, she traveled the world, worked in the Provo Temple and continued to serve in her Orem 29th Ward. Marelda is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, 10 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved and cherished being in her life. She was an inspiration to and greatly enriched the lives of her family and all who knew her. Marelda and her family have been very appreciative for the services of Alpine Home Health Care and Hospice and especially to the staff of Summerfield Manor, where she has resided for two and a half years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 24, at 11 a.m., in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, where friends may call from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Whitney, Vilate Meeks Vilate Meeks Whitney Vilate Meeks Whitney, 93, of Springville, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2004, of heart failure. She was born in Mt. Carmel, Utah, on May 17, 1911, to Alfred Randall Meeks and Malinda Vilate Covington. She married Frank Johnson Whitney on November 26, 1934. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in 1966. Vilate attended schools in Orderville, Utah. She was active in the LDS Church, serving in various callings; her favorite being in Primary. She loved to sew, cook, and tell stories to her grandchildren. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was a great example of love strength and endurance to all. She will be greatly missed. Vilate is survived by three sons: Mardean (Lois) Whitney, of West Valley City, UT; Garth (Darlene) Whitney, of Prescott Valley, AZ; and Ranell (Karen) Whitney, of Spanish Fork, UT; two daughters: Charlene (Tom) Cornell, of American Fork, UT; and Leanne Whitney of Springville; one brother, Dellas Arthur Meeks, of Salt Lake City, UT; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, two brothers, and one grandson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at 11:30 a.m. in the Hobble Creek West Stake Center, located at 555 South 600 East (Averett Ave.), Springville. A viewing will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
