He was born December 18, 1979 in Payson, Utah, son of Masel Leroy Elder and Charlene Trotter. Jamie lived in Springville and Cedar Valley, and graduated from Lehi High School. He was an Elder in the LDS Church and worked as a safety inspector for McLaughlin Swine and Mink Farms. Jamie really enjoyed race cars and sports and he loved music. He especially loved life, people and his family. Survived by his parents, Masel and Jackie Elder, Santaquin; Charlene Trotter and Ryan Wagner, Cedar Valley; grandparents, Charles and Maureen Trotter, Cedar Fort; brothers, Cody Elder and Gage Trotter, both of Cedar Fort; Klay (Angie) Eva, Jared (Shawnda) Eva, and Landon Eva, all of Santaquin; sisters, Ashley Elder, Santaquin; Tanya (T.J.) Davis, Hurricane, UT; Teresa (Jeff) Harward, Santaquin. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Butch and Arlene Elder, and uncle, Mike Elder. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedar Fort LDS Chapel. Friends and family may call Friday evening at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Gay, Virginia Scott Virginia Scott Gay, age 85, passed away at her home in Payson on Wednesday, March 30, 2005. She was born May 22, 1919 in Nephi, Utah to Sidney and Effie Bartholomew Scott. She married James Gay, October 15, 1937 in Provo. He preceded her in death May 13, 1983. Virginia was a member of the Daughter of the Utah Pioneers, a 4-H leader and scout leader. She served in various callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed being with family and friends. Her joy was in service to others. Survivors include: her son and three daughters, J. Clyde (Wilma) Gay, Salem; Connie (Dale) Saunders, Payson; LaVonna (David) Partridge, Salt Lake; Betty (Lynn) Benson, Payson; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Byron (Melba) Scott, Nephi; Maynard (Helen) Scott, Payson; and Edith (Wesley) Smith, Washington State. She was preceded in death by: her parents; a brother, Keith (Beth) Scott; and a granddaughter, Shaleste Partridge. Funeral services will be Saturday, April, 2, 2005, 11:00 a.m., at the Mtn. View Chapel located at 681 East 500 North, Payson. Published in the Daily Herald on 4/1/2005. Mitchell, Iretta Ann Pierce Iretta Ann Pierce Mitchell, 68, of Pleasant Grove passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2005 from complications of diabetes. She was born May 17, 1936 in Spanish Fork to Henry LeRoy and Roseybell Lisonbee Pierce, the youngest of nine children. She married Walter James Mitchell on June 10, 1953 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Walt passed away in 1983. Iretta grew up and attended schools in Spanish Fork and Provo. After her marriage to Walter, they made their home in Pleasant Grove where they raised their four children. Iretta enjoyed the outdoors camping, hunting, fishing and traveling with her family and friends and looked forward to all family get togethers. Iretta had an extensive spoon collection and was an avid reader. She is survived by her four children: Susan K. (Mike) Miller, Lehi; Steven W. (Rosemarie) Mitchell, Riverton; Sandra A. Wright, Levan; and Mike S. (Julie) Mitchell, Levan; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two brothers. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Published in the Daily Herald on 4/1/2005. VanWagenen, Elva Fern Elva Fern Ferguson Palfreyman Scott VanWagenen passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 28, 2005, in Washington, Utah. She was born August 1, 1915 in Provo, Utah, to Earl and Fern VanWagenen Ferguson. She married Dennis Blake Palfreyman on September 15, 1933, in Provo, Utah. Blake died in a tragic automobile accident on December 21, 1935. She married Mark J. Scott on September 16, 1937, in Provo, Utah, and enjoyed forty years of life with him until he died on March 14, 1978. She married Everett VanWagenen on February 14, 1984 in Provo, Utah. Everett was deceased on March 31, 2002. Elva grew up in Provo and graduated from Provo High School in 1933. She later attended Brigham Young University. She moved to Lakeview, Utah in 1937 and lived there for over 60 years. She was a resident of Prestige Assisted Living in Provo from 1999 to 2002. The past three years Elva has been in assisted living care in St.George/Washington, Utah. Elva enjoyed spending time with her family and one of her greatest joys was travel. She was an excellent homemaker and loved hosting her family in her home for Holidays and special occasions. Elva volunteered many hours of community service as a Pink Lady at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Lakeview Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by one daughter and two sons: Max (Irene) Palfreyman of Santa Clara, Utah; Sandra (Tom) Carbotti of Columbia, Maryland; and Richard (Georgia) Scott of Portland, Oregon; one brother: Boyd (Elaine) Ferguson of Fresno, California: 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2005, at 11 a.m., at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Walker, Kurtis Ray Kurtis Ray Walker, 24, of Pleasant Grove passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005 from complications of pneumonia. He was born July 2, 1980 in American Fork to Jim and Sandra Tolman Walker. Kurtis grew up in Pleasant Grove and attended school there. He served as Student Body Vice-President of Pleasant Grove Jr. High and graduated from Pleasant Grove High in 1999. He later attended UVSC where he was active in student government and received an Associates Degree in Business. Kurtis spent the last two years living and working in Las Vegas as a Magician's Assistant. Kurtis was a musician, artist, and photographer. He is survived by his parents Jim and Sandra of Pleasant Grove; siblings: James (Patricia) Walker, Provo; Christina Carling, Pleasant Grove; Rebecca (Brandon) White, Tooele; Elder Brian Walker, currently serving a mission in South Carolina; two nieces and three nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden Second Ward Chapel, 396 North 1100 East, American Fork.
