Jean was born June 7, 1921, in Harrisville, Michigan to Samuel Tyson and Nora Mabel Jennings Tyson. Jean's Michigan State College Education was interrupted by teaching school in Glennie, Michigan for two years. She then enlisted in the US Army Medical Corp where she served as a Physical Therapist during and after World War II. After release from active duty Jean returned to Michigan State University and received her degree. On July 21, 1951, Jean Marie Tyson and Virgil Lee Holley DuVal were married in The United Methodist Church in Glennie, Michigan. They were blessed with two children, Deborah Lynne DuVal and Gregory Scott DuVal. The DuVal Family were converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1962. Jean served in many positions in the LDS Church primarily in Relief Society and Mutual in both ward and stake. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Deborah. She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, son, Gregory, his wife, Pamela, granddaughter, LeAnn DuVal Johnson with husband, Trey William Johnson and greatgrandson, Connor William Johnson, grandson, Gregory Thayer DuVal, and granddaughter, Paige Mikel DuVal. Funeral arrangements were made at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home of Orem, Utah. Interment, after Graveside services, will be in the family plot in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Groveland, California. Fackrell, Dorcie Rogers Dorcie Rogers Fackrell "Together Again" Our beloved mother and grandmother returned to her Heavenly home April 1, 2005. Dorcie was born Sep 1, 1931 in Snowflake, AZ to Amos P and Dora Freeman Rogers. She married David Lloyd Fackrell on Sep 13, 1948. David died Aug 14, 2001. She always put her family first, was an excellent seamstress and loved crafts. Survived by her 7 children, David Lloyd Fackrell, Jr, of Am Fork, Dorcie Jean Fackrell of Am Fork, Leonard (Vickie) Fackrell of Orem, Kenneth W. Hooper Preston Thomas Hooper, 90, of Mapleton Utah passed away April 4, 2005. He was born February 12,1915 to Albert Edward Hooper and LaPreal Groesbeck. He married Ruth Wiscombe on March 4,1935 in Springville Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on September 3,1952. Pres lived in Mammoth Utah until the age of eight, and then moved to Springville, due to the failing health and eventual death of his father. He held many jobs that included the C.C.C. Camps and W.P.A. because of the depression years. He worked for Anderson Lumber Company for 27 years and then retired from Nebo School District, where he was employed as a custodian at the Springville Middle School. He was an active bowler and an avid fisherman. He participated with the Mendelsohn Chorus, and the Utah Valley Opera Association, for the better part of his life. He has served as president of the Mapleton Jaycees, and was a member of the Lions Club. He was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was widely known for his woodwork and crafts, and his various fruits and vegetables that he grew and sold. He is survived by his children: Jolene (Tony G.) Kogianes, Provo; Raymond (Mary) Hooper, Ogden; Tom (Lorraine) Hooper, Hesperia CA.; Vicki (Cem) Murphy, Elko NV; Shelby (Denise) Hooper, Payson; Trisha (Danny) Hall, Payson; 24 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren, two sisters; Marie Kari and Rosalie Killpack, and half-siblings; L. Wood Haymond, Beverly Christian and Dean Haymond. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, an infant son Bert N. Hooper, and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held April 7th 2005 at 11:00 a.m., in the Mapleton White Church on the corner of Main and Maple. Nostaja COKEVILLE, WYOMING - WAYNE J. NOSTAJA, 98, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2005 at the South Lincoln Medical Center in Kemmerer, Wyoming. He was born August 24, 1906 in Teluride, Colorado to Nestor and Lizzie Anna Ojala Nostaja. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had lived in Cokeville for the last several years to be near his children. Wayne is survived by one daughter, Betty Hansen and one son Bob Nostaja both of Cokeville, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three wives, Nina, Elizabeth and Aleta, a son Jack, and two sons-in-law, Don Allen and Vernon Hanses. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, at 1:00 PM in the Cokeville LDS Chapel where friends may visit with family that day from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. Olson, Marilyn Marilyn Olson Our dear, sweet, daughter, sister, and mother left this earth April 2, 2005. She was born July 2, 1970, in Provo, Utah, to Ralph P. And Linda A. Olson. Marilyn attended Bonneville Elementary, Orem Jr. High, and graduated from Mountain View High School. She will best be remembered for her caring service to the disabled and elderly. She had a great love for these people, the outdoors, and especially her daughter. She was currently working for Provo School district at Canyon Crest Elementary. She is survived by her daughter, Brandee, Highland; her father, Provo; siblings, Ralynn (Ron) Schaefer, Pleasant Grove; Terri (Stu) Ray, Denham Springs, LA; Jeanni, Orem; Juleen (Wayne) Sears, Highland; Darren, Provo; Brad, Provo; many nieces and nephews. Peel, Eden Pauline Eden Pauline Peel After bravely enduring worsening brain seizures and mental illness and after a heroic struggle to accept her condition and peacefully sacrifice most of her life goals, that were no longer possible, with very little complaint, no bitterness, and no self-pity, Eden Peel, was lovingly taken from mortality, as she slept, on April 2, 2005. She is survived by her parents, Thomas F. and Muriel Murley Peel, her sister, JaNae Ayala, and niece, Dazhay Ayala. Eden was born August 27, 1975. She was a graduate of American Fork High School and of LDS Seminary. She loved her work, as a CNA, in nursing homes and received many letters of thanks and appreciation for her cheerful, thoughtful care. On Sundays, she enjoyed working with the youngest children at church. The illness and her inability to serve a full-time mission were the greatest devastations in her life. Eden will be remembered for her magnificent, generous, helpful heart, enthusiasm, and friendly smile. In her youth, she participated in softball and in track and field events in which she competed, at the national level, twice. Recent interests were hiking, cycling, and collecting rocks and shells. She was devoted to her family. She and her niece were very close. There will be viewings on Thursday, April 7, at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 N., American Fork, Utah, from 6-8 pm., and April 8, at the American Fork North Stake Chapel, 965 N. 60 E., from 9:45 -10:45 am., followed by the funeral at 11:00 am. Poulsen, Glen Martin Glen Martin Poulsen On Monday, April 4, 2005, Glen Martin Poulsen, 68, loving husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully returned home to his Father in Heaven. Born on December 2, 1936 in Spanish Fork, Utah, Glen was raised and attended school in the Spanish Fork area. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School and served six years in the Utah National Guard. He attended Brigham Young University where he obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Instruction with a double minor in Sociology and Human Development/Family Relations. He married Arlene Peterson, also of Spanish Fork, on August 11, 1961. They were later married and sealed to their children for all time and eternity in the Provo Temple on August 11, 1978. He taught fourth and sixth grades in Payson, Utah, at Taylor Elementary, Peteetneet Elementary, and Payson Middle School. During his career as an educator for nearly 37 years, Glen taught countless numbers of students in Math, Reading, and Social Studies. Because of the myriad of lives he touched while in the classroom, his positive influence for good is immeasurable. As a member and High Priest of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he faithfully served in his Elder's Quorum Presidency, as a Webelos Leader, and as a temple worker. Glen enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, doing family history, and most of all the company of his grandchildren and family, who were always the focus of his efforts and the source of his joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Poulsen and Vera May Johnson; and one brother, Ralph J. Poulsen. He is survived by his wife; three children: Steven (Kara) Glen Poulsen of Spanish Fork, Darren (Cathleen) Ray Poulsen of Lehi, and Melanie Poulsen of Spanish Fork; and eight grandchildren: Kaila, Sierra, Jada, Necia, Rachel, Emma, Erika, and Jordan. He is also survived by two brothers: Blaine A. Poulsen, Spanish Fork and Neil J. Poulsen, West Valley. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 8, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Spanish Fork West Stake Center, 360 North 650 West. Roberts, Wanda Ruth Andrus Wanda Ruth Andrus Roberts Wanda Ruth Andrus Roberts passed away March 31, 2005. She was 90 and a blessing to the end -- and still. Born Nov. 6, 1914 in Holladay, Utah, to Clarence Loyal Andrus and Ruth Viola Christensen, she was the eldest of nine children. Wanda attended Irving Grade School, Granite High, (she was the first female "cheerleader," there) and graduated from BYU in 1939. On June 6, 1940 she married her BYU sweetheart, Charles Henry Roberts. The couple raised 6 children and taught school for 39 years in the Big Horn Basin area of Wyoming, before retiring to Lehi. Wanda is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and always served faithfully in church organizations and in the community. These past few years she agonized over her memory loss, but she never forgot her testimony of Jesus Christ. She never forgot to keep His commandments and express gratitude. She never forgot her positive attitude and cheerful disposition. Proverbs is true. "... for her price is far above rubies . . . Strength and honour are her clothing;" Survived by children, Duane (Susan) Roberts, Springville; Kurt (Jackie) Roberts, American Fork; Ruth (Jim) Dunn, Orem; Reese (Diane) Roberts, Kaysville; Maralee (Zeke) Francis, Moab; Gerald (Candice) Roberts, Bartlesville, Oklahoma; 32 grandchildren (3 serving LDS missions); and 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence Andrus, of Draper; Willis Andrus, of Murray; James Andrus, of Glenwood; and Jay Andrus, of Price. Jack was born February 22,1924 in Riverton, Utah to Nicholas and Minnie Brown Silcox. He graduated from Jordan High School where he excelled in basketball and football. Jack served in the Navy during World War II. He married Myrl Beckstead on October 10,1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. Jack and Myrl lived nearly their entire married life in Riverton, Utah. He coached young men basketball and softball for many years. Family outings, hunting trips, and looking for a deal on a good used cow or new vehicle were his favorite things to do. Jack served on the Riverton Town Council. He was the self-employed owner and operator of "Jack's Used Cows" and Silcox Raw Milk Depot. He and Myrl spent the last few years in Payson, Utah. Jack had a great love and concern for his family and enjoyed people. He is survived by his wife, Myrl, five children: Jay (Cathy), Riverton; Marie (Wayne) Steadman, Salem; Nadine (Kyle) McKee, Herriman; Roy (Cathy), Salem; and Brad (Julie), Payson; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Ballard, Draper. Strong, June Engberson June Engberson Strong 1908 - 2005 "TOGETHER AGAIN" June Engberson Strong, age 96, passed away on Sunday, April 7 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She was born June 30, 1908 in Driggs, Idaho, the daughter of Eve & Alma Engberson. June attended school in Driggs and graduated from Teton High School. She married William A. Strong on Dec. 23, 1931 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Jan. 11, 1984. She attended Ricks College before she was married, and later received her Bachelor's degree from BYU in 1959. She was an elementary school teacher for five years before her marriage, then for 19 more years from 1953 to 1972. June was an active member of the LDS Church. Her first church calling was at age 14, to help teach a weekday Primary class. She also served as a Sunday School secretary and teacher, stake Relief Society secretary and counselor, stake Primary counselor, stake MIA counselor, and as a temple worker in the Provo Temple. She served as a visiting teacher for over 50 years. She was a member of the PTA, Idaho Education Association, and Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was nominated by her family in 1971 as a candidate for Idaho Mother of the Year. She is survived by her children, William J. (Charlene) of Provo, John (Jennie Lin) of Provo, Genevieve Smith of Kaysville, David (Gaye) of Palmdale, CA, Maurine (Robert) Miles of Pleasant Grove, Mark (Jasmine) of Provo, Ralph (Laurel) of Riverside, CA, a daughter-in-law, JoDeane Ricks of Driggs, ID, and a sister, Christina Yates of Brigham City. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A Strong, a son, Melvin, a daughter, Emma, a son-in-law, Paul Smith, five brothers and five sisters, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant View 4th Ward, 650 East 2900 North, Provo.
