He loved Lake Powell, camping, hiking, hunting, snowboarding, wakeboarding, sports, his dog, good dutch oven, friends, family, and comedy. He had many friends and was always a loyal friend. His greatest joy was making others laugh and giving us his perspective on new technology, everyday occurrences and people's strange customs. He chose to join his friends on the other side and is survived by his parents: Lyle and Connie; siblings: Jeff and Amy Mitchell; Robert and Robyn Lamoreaux, Sarah Lamoreaux, Nick and Amy Lamoreaux, and Dillon and Laura Beutler; nieces and nephews: Kate, Hunter, Tucker, Abraham, Taft, Amelia, and Gabriella; grandparents: Bonnie Lamoreaux, Odin and Darlene Knutson and many loving extended family. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 18, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Old Lindon Chapel, 25 North Main, Lindon. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Monday one hour prior to services. Published in the Daily Herald from 4/16/2005 - 4/17/2005. Powell, Arthur Thomas Arthur Thomas Powell Arthur Thomas Powell, passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2005. He was born on December 4, 1910 in Pleasant Grove, Utah, the oldest of six children born to James Thomas and Lydia Mary Humphries Powell. He married Alta Bell Sunderland, November 7, 1934, in the Salt Lake Temple. They have 4 children, 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Arthur started Lehi Block Company in 1945. He introduced many new ideas and technology, and was instrumental in desigining and building some of the equipment and specialty processes. At age 83 Arthur designed ArtStone, an interlocking retaining wall system and he received the patent rights to this product. Arthur was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held various church callings, one of which was scout master for many years. He was a faithful home teacher up until age 90. Arthur was an example to his family of integrity, service, humor and hard work. Children are Alda Mae (Charles) Porter, Mac Arthur (Barbara), Lorin (Carol), and Terry (Betty). He was preceded in death by his wife; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be Monday, April 18, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lehi Stake Center, 200 N. Center. Family and friends may call Sunday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, and Monday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery. She was born January 11, 1920, a daughter of Henry and Maria Diederen Crapels in Heerlen, The Netherlands. She married Karel Wanders November 18, 1947, in Brunssum, The Netherlands. Elly was an excellent wife, mother, cook, gardener, flower arranger, painter, crocheter, and knitter, giving much of her crocheting and knitting to rest homes. She liked to play bridge, go to church, host bridge and family parties, go camping, square dancing and sew clothes for her family. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Karel Wanders; her children: Betty (Paul) Moore of Provo/Castle Dale; Carl (Lesa) of Lehi; Nance (Evan-deceased) Johnson of Castle Dale; grandchildren: Elise (Rob) Bean of Saratoga Springs; Chad (Michelle) Wanders of Lehi; Kyle & Kristie Johnson of Castle Dale; her great grandchildren: Colton & Nicole Wanders of Lehi; Brendan Bean of Saratoga Springs; her sisters: Mia Kole and Agnes Henraath of The Netherlands. A Celebration of Mass will be held Monday, April 18, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Francis Catholic Church, 65 East 500 North in Orem. Friends and family may call one hour prior at the church.
