Scott B. Hickman Scott B. Hickman, age 21, passed away April 20, 2005, at his home in Lehi, Utah. He was born December 31, 1983, in American Fork, Utah, to Harlin Brent and Nadine Andress Hickman. Scott was happiest when hunting with his best friend and brother, Brad. He loved to fish and hunt with his dad, brothers, family, and friends. He had a big, tender heart, and a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed people and liked to laugh, and he had a lot of friends. He loved hanging out with his family and teasing his nieces and nephews. Scott dreamed of being a pro bass fisherman. He won the Doug Miller contest when he was 13 years old with a 42 lb. lake trout he caught at Flaming Gorge Reservoir. Survived by his parents of Lehi; grandparents, Rex and Katheryn Hickman; two sisters, Andrea (Corvin) Deus, Riverton; Stephanie (Chad) Colfack, Cedar Hills; two brothers, Blake (Shana) Hickman, Sandy; Bradley Brent Hickman, Lehi; nieces and nephews: Shaylyn, Ryan, and Allison Deus; Nicole and Cody Hickman; and Tyler Colfack; and a special friend, Chyann Houghton. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the Lehi East Stake Center, 900 N. 1200 East. Family and friends may call Monday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Hill, Juanita Ray Juanita Ray Hill 1957 - 2005 Juanita passed away peacefully on April 21, 2005 in her home in Orem, UT, after a long battle with cancer. Born August 9, 1957 in Mesa, AZ, to Irving J and Ethlyn Andersen Ray, she was the sixth of ten children. She married her eternal sweetheart E. Jeffrey Hill on May 5, 1976 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. Their posterity presently includes 3 sons, 6 daughters, 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and one more on the way. Juanita will be remembered for her genuine virtue, unpretentious example, love of children, willingness to work, diligence, and devotion to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Juanita chose to dedicate her time, energy, and talents to her family in the home. She was a world-class homemaker. She enjoyed athletics, reading, walking, a clean house, ice cream, spontaneity, and kissing her husband in elevators. Juanita was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints every day of her life. She had a strong testimony of the restored Gospel and served enthusiastically in the leadership of every auxiliary. Her favorite calling was Primary chorister. Juanita was welcomed with open arms into the Spirit World by her father Irving J Ray, her daughter Heidi Ethlyn Hill, and the Savior Jesus Christ. She will ever be remembered and cherished on earth by her mother Ethlyn Andersen Ray, Mesa, AZ; her husband E. He had a great love for the outdoors. He leaves behind two sons, Justin Dean Johnson, of Spanish Fork; and, Jayson Quaid Johnson, of Provo; his mother, Carole Kay Johnson, of Provo; two brothers, Brandon Kyle Johnson, of Provo; and, Steven Leon Johnson, of Helper; a sister, Yvonne Johnson, of Spanish Fork; and grandfather, Elmer White, of Spanish Fork. He is preceded in death by his father, Melven Leon Johnson; grandfather, William Helge Johnson; grandmothers, Tressa F. Johnson and Phyllis White, all of Spanish Fork. Merill will be greatly missed. Mattinson Melva Sanderson Mattinson Osborn Melva Sanderson Mattinson Osborn, 94, died Friday, April 22, 2005, in her home in Pleasant Grove. She was born to Neils Samuel and Sarah Roxena Chatwin Sanderson, April 2, 1911, and was one of 14 children. She married Ned Black Mattinson, September 13, 1930, in Salt Lake City and was later sealed, November 14, 1966. Ned passed away April 25, 1968. Melva then married John Osborn, August 3, 1974, in the Provo Temple. John passed away in January of 1990. Melva was a homemaker with interests and hobbies that included quilting, knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading, camping, and flower gardening. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints and held many positions, such as visiting teacher, Primary teacher, Relief Society president, Cub Scout leader, temple name extraction, genealogy and temple work. She is survived by two sons, Evan B. (Beverly) Mattinson, Pleasant Grove; Scott (Julie) Mattinson, Tremonton. She has 11 grandchildren: Paul, Dana, Tucker, Kyle, Chase, Knowell, Mackay, Mckensy Mattinson, Lisa Mattinson Harris, Elaine Mattinson Warner and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leland Sanderson, Eureka; Norman Sanderson, Pleasant Grove; sister, LaVerne Briskey, Chino Hills, CA. She was preceded in death by son, Ned Lee Mattinson; grandson, Jared Mattinson; and great grandson, Caleb Warner. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the Pleasant Grove Timpanogos 6th Ward Chapel, 500 North 400 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Preston, David Allan David Allan Preston David Allan Preston, 24, of Orem, Utah, passed away April 21, 2005. He was born April 29, 1981, the son of Dr. William and Maxine Preston. He attended Mountain View High School in Orem and he enjoyed playing hockey and lacrosse. Dave had his EMT certification and was attending UVSC. He played lacrosse for UVSC and was named to the 1st Team All Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference for Attack in 2004. For several years, Dave worked as a medical assistant at his dad's medical office and he enjoyed interacting with people. Dave had a special ability to make friends wherever he went and his friends were very important to him. He loved to hang out with his friends and attend movies. He adored his nieces and nephews. His friends and family will greatly miss him. Dave is survived by his parents, Bill and Maxine Preston; and his family: Jill, John, Jackson and Alyxandria Phippen: Mark, Kristen, Karlee, Brooke, and Marcus Preston; Sarah, Brandon, Breea, Kahri, and Halle Silva; Jen, Joe, Makenna, Madelyn, and Seth Johnson; his grandparents, Ira and Vivian Bourne, and Allan and Jeannine Jensen. Wilder, Shirley Marie Shirley Marie Wilder Shirley Marie Wilder, age 82, died on Thursday, April 21, 2005, at the Beehive Home #5 Assisted Living in Orem, Utah. Formerly, she and her husband, Bud, lived at the Cove Point Retirement Community in Provo; and, on Palisade Drive in Orem. They moved to Utah in 1987, following Bud's retirement from Raytheon Company in Waltham, Massachusetts. Shirley was born in Burley, Idaho, on March 13, 1923. Raised an only child, she moved to San Diego, California, with her parents, when she was five years old. She graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in 1942, and then secured employment with Consolidated Aircraft as a saw operator during WWII. Outside of work, she volunteered as a hostess for the U.S.O. Shirley met John Wilder while he was stationed in San Diego, serving in the U.S. Navy as an instructor for the West Coast Sound School. They were married on December 8, 1945, and soon afterwards moved to Braintree, Massachusetts, where Shirley raised two children and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As an original member of the first branch in Weymouth, Massachusetts, she contributed in many ways by serving faithfully in the Relief Society, MIA and Primary organizations. She was especially known for her compassionate service with the elderly sisters in her ward. In Orem, she was a member of the DUP, assisted with humanitarian projects and served in Relief Society and her ward library. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd S. and Olive E. Elmer; and her husband, John Wilder; and survived by her son, Steven (Ruth) Wilder; a daughter, Beth (Vern) Dillenbeck, both of Orem; eight grandchildren and three great-grandsons. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 25, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Cascade 5th Ward Chapel, 1051 East 200 North, Orem. Visiting hours will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will take place on Cuttyhunk Island, a Wilder retreat located 14 miles off the coast of New Bedford, Massachusetts.
