Whitehead, Elizabeth Johnston Elizabeth Johnston Whitehead Our loving wife and mother, Elizabeth Whitehead returned to the waiting arms of our Heavenly Father on Friday, April 23, 2005, at the Timpanogos Regional Hospital following a life-long fight with heart disease and numerous other serious health problems. She was born August 16, 1960, to Robert Jerry and Carmen Johnston of Ramah, New Mexico. She is the mother of Christy Anderson of Provo, Utah; Calvin Matthew Robert (Whitney) Whitehead of Orem, Utah; and Ashlee Marie Whitehead (Corey) Burton of Salt Lake City, Utah, and grandson, Jack Edward Robert Burton. She is survived by her grandmother, Luella Lambson Clawson; her parents, and siblings: Dee Dee (David) Whitlark of Highland; Shirley (John) Harris of Eagle Mountain; Bob (Mely) Johnston of Ramah, New Mexico; Natalie (Kyle) Larsen of Salt Lake City; Lester (Emily) Johnston of Ramah, New Mexico; numerous nieces and nephews, many aunts and uncles; and countless friends who are very special to her. Elizabeth married Robert P. Whitehead on October 7, 1984, and they were later sealed as a family in the Jordan River Temple, along with Calvin who was adopted by Robert in 1984. She excelled at all sports in high school, achieving the award of Female Athlete of the Year in 1978. More recently, she focused on 2-on-2 Beach Volleyball. She has received numerous metals and awards at the Utah Summer Games and other tournaments, including a #1 ranking in the State for her age group. Her unsatiable appetite for reading blessed not only her life, but that of her family's as well. She had read all nine volumes of The Work and The Glory more than a dozen times. Once, she did so aloud as her husband and children listened. Every morning she would prepare breakfast but she would not eat until after having read a chapter of scripture out loud to her family. It was not uncommon to find her up at night studying and pondering over the Book of Mormon. Lately, she developed a passion for poetry. She has written many, beautiful, personalized poems for friends and family. Here is a sample of a poem she wrote to her husband during a very difficult period in their lives: "For Rob To the man that I married The love of my life My world began In becoming your wife Now our children are grown And have lives of their own We've done all we can The true path we have shown I'm so sorry, Dear Rob, No words can reveal How I long to reach out Touch your wounds, help you heal This time in our lives Is the hardest, that's true But, we must hang on For it's just me and you Brought together by God Of that I am sure Now sealed up forever If we but endure." --Elizabeth Whitehead (2004) Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at the Timpview Stake Center, 1000 North 600 West, at 11 a.m. Friends may pay final tribute to Elizabeth at Berg Mortuary, 185 E.
