She was born December 31, 1911, to Chester and Nellie Clark Davis in West Warren, Utah. She married Ray Averett on June 17, 1939, in Ogden, Utah. They have three children: Sharon (Marion) Gren of Springville, Dale (deceased), Janet (Ellis) Russell of Riverton; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her son, Dale; her parents; two sisters and two brothers. Mom was especially happy when she was surrounded by her family and friends. She was kind, compassionate, and loving to all she met. The family wishes to thank Art City Care Center and Comfort Care Hospice for their loving way in which they cared for our sweet mother. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 South 400 East, Springville, with a viewing from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah. Griffith, Clarence Clarence Griffith slipped suddenly from this life on August 18, 2005. He began his wonderful life, June 22, 1933, in Chandler, AZ, as the youngest of six children of Dio and Myrtle Griffith. He attended Chandler High School and loved to swim. In 1954, he joined the Navy and served as a lifeguard. While in the Navy, he met his eternal love and companion, Phyllis Hambleton, whom he married in the Los Angeles Temple. Clarence worked for the city of Chandler until he moved to California, where he worked as an assembly-line worker for Ford Motor Company for 18 years. He retired and worked for the LDS Church as a building custodian. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church. He served in scouting and as a ward clerk. He was serving as president of the Sunday School at the time of his death. Clarence s life was spent centered around his family. He will be remembered for his barbecues and early morning pancakes. He loved to take the family camping. Clarence leaves behind his wife, Phyllis; his five children: Lee, Dave, John, Beth, and James; his two brothers, Delbert and Dean; and 14 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Tuesday, August 23, at 9:30 a.m. in the Heatheridge 1st Ward Chapel located at 620 E. Heather Road in Orem. Schmidt, Merle Anne Merle Anne Schmidt (nee Miller) 1922-2005 Merle Anne Schmidt, our beloved mother, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2005, at her oldest daughter "Heather and Dan s" home in Rhode Island. Merle was born on June 21, 1922, in Stanger, Natal, South Africa. She was an accomplished seamstress and pianist. In her younger day, she enjoyed playing golf and always enjoyed watching the golf tournaments on TV. Mom was not only a very loving mother but a loving grandmother to her 24 grandchildren (she was known as GOGO to all of them), and six great grandchildren; she knew them all by name and would keep close watch on their progress. Mom had a very good sense of humor and was well informed on any subject, right to the very end. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by her children: Nigel, Malcolm, Heather, Stuart, Gaye, and Lynette. She was preceded in death by her son, Brian. Thank you to all the caregivers at the Rhode Island Hospital (who nicknamed Mom the "little peanut"); also, the Bay Tower Nursing Home, RI; and the kind people of Hospice. Singer, Ariel Rachel Mary Ariel Rachel Mary Singer drowned in the early morning of 18 August 2005, along with three of her friends. Ariel was born 5 April 1987, in Princeton, New Jersey, but lived, since she was two months of age, in Orem, Utah. Ariel attended American Heritage School, Meridian School, and Orem High School, from whence she graduated in 2004. Our beloved Eo, as her little brothers called her, loved to sing, dance, hike, read, cook, and love. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by David and Valerie Hudson Cassler, Eric G. Singer, five brothers: Ben, Joe, John, Tom (her favorite), and Jim; grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends. She struggled valiantly with incredible emotional challenges, and she was the song of our hearts. A viewing will be held 23 August, from 6-8 p.m., at Walker-Sanderson Mortuary, 646 E. 800 North, Orem. Funeral services will be held at Noon, 24 August, at the Cascade First Ward Chapel, 481 E. Center, Orem, with viewing from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
