Fern was born December 31, 1918 in Wallsburg, Utah to Mark and Mertie Heward Mecham.Fern grew up on a farm with her two brothers and four sisters where she loved to work alongside her father. She met Joseph Bates Allman on a blind date and married him on February 11, 1937. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on August 5, 1962. He Preceded her in death May 28, 1997. Fern enjoyed spending time with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved to crochet and work in the garden with her husband. Her beautiful flowers, fruits and vegetables will be missed. Fern learned how to bake pies from her grandmother and the pies that she made were something her family always looked forward to. She traveled around the country with Joe enjoying the time they spent together. Fern was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in the primary. Fern will be greatly missed by her children, Mary (William) Ewell, Joyce (Eldon) Smith, Dianne (Fred) Farley, Joseph Glenn "Sam" (Teena) Farley, VernaLee (Mervin) Atwood, Sandy Lamoreaux, her 23 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and her sisters Pearl Fennena and Evelyn Lucas. Sister-in-law LaDean Mecham, brother-in-law Paul Fowler. Fern was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Bates Alllman, brothers Russell Mecham and Orval Mecham, sisters Thelma Sullivan and Bearnice Fowler, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem. A viewing will b held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services on Saturday. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Beckstead, 81, of Springville, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2005. He was born on September 30, 1923 in Spanish Fork, UT to Moses William Augustus and Mary Annie Christina Kramer Beckstead. He married Thelma Olene Peterson on May 2, 1947. She later died in a car accident. He then married Alice Price Muir in 1962. They later divorced. He then married Allie Sudweeks (Goble) on May 7, 1988. Robert worked as a brick mason at Geneva Steel for 35 years and also at the Provo temple for 15 years. He was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean wars. He was a High Priest, enjoyed working on genealogy, and loved to travel. He is survived by his wife, Allie; children: Marsha (Gilby) Gilbert, Mary (Randy) Bird, Janet Nelson, Diane (Brian) Robinson, and Susan Robinson; step-children: Dahl Goble, Gwen (Slade) Mathews, Linda (Mack) Hatfield, Dennis (Lynda) Goble; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children: Donald Beckstead and Marylin Cardall; step-child, Jean Goble; and his brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Main Street LDS Chapel, 55 North Main, Springville. Friends and family may call on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, or at the church one hour prior to services. Cruze, Ruth Alta Spears Ruth Alta Spears Cruze, age 81, of Provo, Utah returned to Heavenly Father on Tuesday August 23, 2005 surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was born February 5, 1924 in Cookeville, TN, daughter of Charlie Denton and Frances Joanna Sherrell Spears. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dearly loved only son, Stephen LeGrande Cruze and a great-grandson, James Michael Adamson. Also gone on before Ruth are her beloved siblings, five brothers, and six sisters. She is survived by her husband Union Jerome Cruze who she met in Knoxville, TN, and later married on March 8, 1946. She is also survived by her five daughters, Phyllis and Jay Adamson of Orem, UT; Carolyn and Robert Eyre of Orem, UT; Marilyn and James B. Sorensen of Kaysville, UT; Debbie and Tim Tingey of Provo, UT; and Victoria and Mark Kowalk of South Jordan, UT; 26 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her dear brother Aubrey Hosea Spears of Sparta, TN. Ruth is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She graduated in 1943 from Pleasant Hill Academy in Cumberland, TN. Soon after she was a "Rosie the Riveter" in Phoenix, AZ. She fulfilled many church callings in the Relief Society and Primary organizations. She especially enjoyed teaching the spiritual living lessons in Relief Society. She served an LDS Mission to Wales England in 1984-85. She served faithfully in the Provo Temple for 23 years. As a mother, she instilled a love of the gospel in her 6 children. Being a mother was her most important priority. She considered her home the Garden of Eden. She loved to garden and enjoyed the outdoors. Ruth loved to visit her birthplace of Tennessee and the Great Smokey Mountains. She was known for her beautiful, sweet smile and her positive attitude and outlook on life. She will be remembered for being a devoted wife and mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by those she left behind and joyfully received by those who have gone on before her. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m., in the Edgemont 12th Ward Chapel, 350 East 2850 North, Provo. Lundell, Anna Laura Mortenson Anna Laura Mortenson Lundell died Aug 23rd 2005 surrounded by family. She was born in Ephraim, Utah on Nov 9, 1929 to Rulon and Elda Mortenson. She was the only daughter and baby of the family with 4 older brothers. Anna was preceded in death by her husband Floyd. Parents Rulon and Elda and brothers Darrell, Roy and Ray. Married to Floyd A. Lundell Sept 6th 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Anna had many wonderful stake and ward callings. Graduated from Snow College and BYU. She taught elementary school for 12 years in Nebo School district, never missing a single day of saying the pledge of allegiance and a morning prayer, before retiring with health concerns. She is survived by her children Terry and Stephanie Lundell, Tuscon, AZ. Rod and Karen (Cherry) Andrew, Spanish Fork. Bruce Lundell, Buckeye, AZ. Roger and Camille Maher Lehi. Paul and Kathy Lundell, Spanish Fork, Darrel Lundell Spanish Fork. 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. And her brother Clark Mortenson Provo. Domanick Lowell Strasburg, infant son of Travis Lowell Strasburg and Kira Gail Mitchell, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at Primary Childrens Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, of heart complications. He was born on August 11, 2005 in Salt Lake City. Survivors include his parents, Travis and Kira, a brother: Christian Leon Parker; Grandparents: Joe & Lisa Strasburg, of Orem; Steven Parker, of Spanish Fork; Laurel & Stephen Martin, of Provo; Joe & Deanna Durbin, of Payson; Great Grandparents: Linda Peterson, of Orem; Virginia Strasburg, of Utah; Carol Parker, of Spanish Fork; Marva Tucker, of Nevada; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Vance, John Abram John Abram Vance was born April 22, 1932 to Byron and Jennie Van Orman at Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. He peacefully returned home on August 23, 2005, age 73, while his wife and other family members surrounded him. John married Mary Emily Zaugg on March 28, 1937 in the Cardston Temple. John is the father of five sons, Allan, Byron, Robert (deceased), David and Michael and 1 daughter Shirley.He has 23 grandchildren. John attended school at Rosemary, Alberta, Canada. He then served his mission in Australia from 1953 to 1955. John is successful in many occupations including Farming, Sales, Business, Theatre Management (Towne Cinema) and Real Estate. He served in many church callings including Seminary Teacher, Branch President, 1st Counselor to the Mission President, High Counselor, Elders Quorum President and Temple Worker. His favorite activity is playing with his 23 grandchildren. Other favorite activities include Scouts, Gymkhana, Rodeos and 4-H. The family would like to thank Dr. Odgen, Dr. Stephanez, and a special thank you to Divta Dialysis. Thank you for the kindness you have shown our mother and father through the years. Walker Our husband, father, brother, grandpa, and 'grandpa-great', Glade D Walker, 76, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2005. Glade was born February 4, 1929 in Lindon to Arnold Arthell and Luella Swenson Walker. He married LaRue Fautin on August 11, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Glade grew up in Lindon and attended school in Pleasant Grove, graduating from Pleasant Grove High in 1947 where he served as Varsity quarterback and Senior Class President. He attended BYU and was a life-long Cougar fan. Glade was an active member of the LDS Church and served as Bishop of the Pleasant Grove 9th Ward. He and LaRue served a Family History Mission in Salt Lake City at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building from 1995-96. He worked at Geneva Steel for 44 years and retired in 1995. Glade enjoyed his family, working in his garden, associating with friends, golfing, and traveling with LaRue. He is survived by his wife LaRue of Pleasant Grove; children: Sherri (Layne) Atwood, Pleasant Grove; Shauna (Robert) Robinson, University Place, WA; Stephanie (Brent) McAllister, Pleasant Grove; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers: Arlo (Dorothy) Walker, Howard (Jeanne) Walker, Sterling (Anna Lee) Walker and sister-in-law, Verla. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Lloyd. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove Stake Center, 275 East 500 South, Pleasant Grove.
