Willis James Willis Moon, a well known Uintah Basin sheep rancher and Provo apartment owner, passed away on 27 August 2005, at age 93. He was the fourth child of Nephi and Melinda (White) Moon. His mother passed away when he was eight, and his father married Etta Fuller when he was fifteen. Willis spent his early years with his parents on a homestead in Hanna, Utah, where he helped establish the family sheep ranching business, high in the Uintah Mountains. He married Pearl Foster in the Salt Lake temple on 1 April 1938, and together they raised seven children. Pearl passed away on 4 July 2000. Willis and Pearl maintained homes in both Hanna and Provo. Willis was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Eastern States Mission and as Bishop of the Hanna Ward for twelve years. Willis rarely met a person without telling them a joke or a story or reciting some quote he remembered. Willis and Pearl s seven children are: Elaine {D-deceased} (Lowell {D}) Lowry, Lamar (Diane), Lamont (Gay), Richard (Marcia), Rachel {D} (Lynn) Baadsgaard, Ruth (Tom) Rogers, and Helen (Roger) Gourley. They have 34 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Willis has twelve siblings: Arnold {D}, Myrthen {D}, Laretta Payne {D}, Phillip {D}, Dora Riley {D}, Marjorie (Robert) Kent, Emily Jones {D}, Floyd (Sally), Wayne {D}, Merrill {D}, Milton (Karen) and Roger (Lana). Betty Glad, a close and devoted friend, and Leon Moon, a nephew, were especially helpful during Willis' last few years while he resided at Courtyard assisted living center.. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 31 August 2005, at 1 p.m., in the Provo Utah Stake Center, 1315 East 900 South, Provo, Utah. Viewing from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, 30 August, at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah; and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the services at the stake center. Interment, Provo City Cemetery. Published in the Daily Herald on 8/29/2005. Nielson, Caroline Holmes Caroline Holmes Nielson passed away on Friday, August 26, 2005, at her home in Pleasant Grove. Caroline was born October 20, 1951, in American Fork, to Ferris E. Holmes and Cleo Barberi Holmes Adams. Caroline married her sweetheart, Doyle, in the Salt Lake Temple, June 11, 1971. Doyle was her best friend and treasured companion and together welcomed five children into their home, and delighted in watching their family grow. She graduated from Lehi High School and attended UVSC. The most important career she had was a wonderful wife and mother. She also worked as a librarian for the American Fork City Library and owned and operated a successful business, Credit-Facts. Caroline was a faithful member of the LDS Church. She served in many leadership positions including Relief Society President, Young Women s President, and Stake Primary President. She loved to serve in every capacity she could find and was incredibly creative and talented in many areas. Caroline was a beautiful seamstress and accomplished musician; however, her true love came from serving those she loved, as well as anyone in need. She is survived by her loving husband, Doyle Lars Nielson, Pleasant Grove; five children: Michelle (Don) Lewis, American Fork; Aubrey (Ian) Crawley, Ft. Hood, TX; Bryan (Kimberly) Nielson, Orem; Chris Nielson, Pleasant Grove; Jeff Nielson, Orem; nine grandchildren: Dylan, Evan, Aidan, McKay, Moira, Aspen, Cheyenne, Kurstyn, and Bryton; parents, Ferris Holmes, Cleveland, UT; and Cleo (Charles) Adams, Lehi; and siblings: Eldon, Angie, and James. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Curtis Ian Crawley. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the Grove Creek Tenth Ward Chapel, 475 North 700 East, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove; and, at the church, on Thursday one hour prior to services. Phoenix, Rhoda Nerine Rhoda Nerine Phoenix was born December 29, 1924, in Spanish Fork, UT, to her parents, Robert Warren Merrill and Rhoda Ann Allred, the first of seven children. She married Oliver Phoenix on July 5, 1942, and has been a long-time resident of Orem. She passed away at the age of 80, on August 27, 2005, at her home in Orem, UT, surrounded by her family. She was a member of the LDS Church and was a Primary teacher in the 1960's. She was an LPN at Utah Valley Hospital for several years. She also loved working in her garden, traveling, crocheting, oil painting, and bird watching; and, especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Oliver; son, Harold; daughters, Faye Wettstein and Louise Meeks; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Clyde; granddaughter, Sheila Phoenix; and great grandson, Jaxon Bosworth. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2005, at 2 p.m., at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State, Provo. Friends may call on the family at the cemetery.
