She was the daughter of Joseph Elam Mecham and Mildred Annie Ottesen Wanlass and was born on December 2, 1935 in American Fork, UT. She was named after her two grandmothers. Her siblings are Leo Jack Mecham (Joy), Lynn Niles Mecham (Joanne), Crosby Elam Mecham (Janet), Karen Lillian Johnson (Mike) and Samuel Robert Mecham (Kathy). Her children are Michael Gene Hooley (Nola), Lehi, UT; Lynette Harrington (Timothy), Healdsburg, CA; Cynthia Hansen (George), Midway, UT; Sandra Lynn Hendricks (John), North Salt Lake , UT. She was married to Gene Hooley on June 21, 1954, later divorced. She then married Karl B Clark, August 12, 1960, later divorced. She has 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Her parents, a brother Jared David Mecham and a grandson Clayton Hansen preceded her in death. She was employed by International Harvester for over 20 years. She enjoyed needlework and created many cherished items for her posterity. Her viewing will be held Friday, Dec 2, 2005 from 6-8 pm at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E 100 N, American Fork, Utah. Clyde, Hazel Arlene Savage December 24, 1917-November 27, 2005 Our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, Hazel Arlene Savage Clyde, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2005 joining her eternal companion William (Bill) Russell Clyde who passed away on December 22, 2002. She was born December 24, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John LeRoy Savage and Anna Helena Hedman Savage. Hazel graduated from Springville High school in 1936. She married Bill on June 24, 1938 in Tooele, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, Hazel and Bill spent their lives in Springville, Utah enjoying their eight children, forty-six grandchildren, and sixty-nine great-grandchildren. Hazel spent many hours serving others in church callings, 4-H, the community and as a friend. Hazel was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and a former member of the Pari Passu Club and the Musettes. She enjoyed square dancing and participating in community plays. Later in life Hazel and Bill traveled with dear friends to visit family throughout the United States, Canada, and Asia. Hazel was a gifted homemaker. She loved to sew, quilt, can and bake. Hazel loved to spend time in her beautiful gardens. She loved a productive fruit tree, a bountiful harvest and a blossoming rose bush. She listened patiently, chided playfully, instructed wisely, reprimanded sternly, and loved eternally. At her home there was always an extra bed, an extra plate, and an extra hug. There was always enough Jello, enough cake, and enough cream for all. No one was ever turned away. Her love for her Heavenly Father permeated every aspect of her life. Hazel had charity for every soul. Not only a beloved mother, Hazel was a dear, dear friend. We loved her and she will be missed. Hazel is survived by her children, Wilford Russell (Anne), Harold Leon (Aty), Marietta (Norman) Young, Joan (Ross) Whicker, William Dale (Ellen), Steven LeRoy (Pam), Helene (Larry) Arnett, and Warren Dean (Cindy), as well as her all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are two sisters, Janet (Terry) Selin and Marcille (Ted) Woodhouse, and in-law's Lena Savage, Louise Clyde, Edna Clyde, Vernon Cook, David Salisbury, and Blake Gammell. Hazel was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence, Roy, Robert, and John Savage, and daughter-in-law, Lucila (Nena) Clyde. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hobble Creek LDS Stake Center, 455 South Canyon Drive, Springville. Friends may call at the at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 2nd South, Springville from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 4 and from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the service in the Relief Society Room. Guymon, Frances Elaine Frances Elaine Guymon, 81, died early Tuesday morning, November 29, 2005, at her home in Bountiful, Utah, from causes incident to age. She was born March 31, 1924, at Mt. Pleasant, Utah, the daughter of John Franklin and Edith Boletta Madsen Mower. She graduated from Provo High School. She was married to Garth Lafe Guymon on May 5, 1943, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She loved to attend the temple and served as a worker in the Provo Temple for two years. She was a great example to her children and posterity, earning many awards for her quilting and humanitarian services. She endured to the end and will be missed by her family and friends. She is survived by three sons: Wayne (Cindy) Guymon; Kent (Janet) Guymon; and Paul (Paula) Guymon; three daughters: Joan (Mike) Willis; Gwen Sullivan; and Ann Minnick; 26 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garth; a daughter, Mary Edith; and a grandson, Chad Sullivan. Funeral services will be at 11:30 am, Saturday, December 3, 2005, at the Timpview LDS Church, 2900 North 650 East in Provo. Massey, Ferrel Alvin Ferrel Alvin Massey passed away November 29, 2005, of cancer, at the age of 88, at his home in Orem, Utah Ferrel was born to George Ova and Elizabeth Maud Orgill Massey on April 10, 1917, in Mountain Dell, Utah, near Vernal. He was the sixth of eleven children. Being born into a farming family, he learned the value of hard work at a young age, a tradition that continued throughout his life. Ferrel graduated from Uintah High School, and then served an L.D.S. mission in the Southern States from 1939-1941. Following his mission, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving for four years with the 116th General Hospital Unit, as an x-ray technician. During World War II he was stationed in England and Germany. While in the service, he enjoyed the opportunity of playing trombone with an Army dance band. While stationed in England he met his wife, Kathleen Margaret Dunn, where they were married on April 2, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on August 21, 1946. Ferrel graduated from B.Y.U. in 1950, in Business Management. He worked at Geneva Steel for many years as he began his photography career in his home. Ferrel, Margaret and the children worked together in the business. Ferrel continued actively working in photography until the age of 86. Ferrel has served faithfully in many callings in the L.D.S. Church. He served as an ordinance worker in the Provo and Mount Timpanogos Temples for over 20 years. He and Margaret also enjoyed serving a mission at the Oakland, California Temple in 1981-82. Ferrel spent several years as a member of the Mendelssohn Chorus. Ferrel always looked forward to family get-togethers, summer barbecues, and the annual Christmas party. Ferrel is survived by his wife, Margaret, six children and their spouses, Michael (Earlene), Adrian (Valerie), Sherwin (Loretta), Larraine Nelson (Gordon), Lanore Whiting (Larry), Loretta Oborn (William), 31 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren. Two grandchildren preceded him in death. He is also survived by sisters, Golda Carroll, Illela McKinlay, brother, George, Floyd (Geneva) and Valda Massey. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeview Stake Center, 400 West 1800 South, Orem. Viewing Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Berg Mortuary, 185 E. Published in the Daily Herald on 12/1/2005. McGhee, George Walter Provo - George Walter McGhee, beloved husband and father passed away peacefully on November 29, 2005 in Orem, Utah. He was born on July 20, 1939 in Otsego, West Virginia to George & Clara Gallant, McGhee. He married Paulette D Picard on October 14, 1995 in Seabrook, New Hampshire. George was in the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. He was also a life member of the D.A.V. and Trench Rats. George took great pride in his position as Commander of Chelsea, Massachusetts Chapter of the D.A.V., and will be remembered for the many acts of kindness he rendered to his community. He is survived by his wife and son, Anthony McGhee of Provo Utah, also survived by two stepsons Kenneth and Leon St. Martin of Rhode Island and a grand daughter Amanda of St. George, Utah. Michael, Lillian Walker Lillian Walker Michael, 96, passed away peacefully of natural causes at her home in American Fork on November 29, 2005. She was born August 5, 1909 in Illinois. Lillian married Roy Michael. She and Roy lived in California until 1992 when they moved to Utah to be closer to their family. Lillian loved crossword puzzles, her rose garden and the laughter of little children. Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Joy and daughter, Barbara. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2005 at 10:00 am. at the Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call a half an hour prior to services on Friday. Steele, Ray Bradley Ray Bradley Steele passed away on November 25, 2005 in Hurricane, Utah. He was born August 29, 1960 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Paul and Grace Ann Vanderhoof Steele. He is survived by his 2 children, Brandon Ned and Desire`, his father and 4 siblings, Roger, Richard and David Steele and Paula Stevens and his 2 previous wives, Kathleen Mangels and Mary Steele. He was preceded in death by his mother. Ray served four years in the Army, mostly in Germany. He worked hard as a truck driver for many years and acquired several hundred thousand miles on the road. He loved to fly hang gliders and also airplanes. He had a commercial license and an instrument rating which he earned at the Provo Airport. He worked as a crop duster pilot in Texas for a short time. His friends had a nickname for him of Raybird. He was loved and will be missed. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson. Wentz, Deanna Lucinda Gillies Deanna Lucinda Gillies Wentz passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at her home in Spanish Fork, Utah, of natural causes. She was 67 years old. She was born in Beaver, Utah on October 1, 1938 to George Elmo Gillies and Jeneva Shipp Gillies. She married Robert Wells Wentz on December 10, 1953 in Springville, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on December 23, 1954. They had three sons, two of which died shortly after birth. They later divorced. Deanna then married Gordon Maxwell and they had one son. They divorced and she married Paul John Kowacich. After he passed away she remarried her first husband, Robert Wells Wentz on July 19, 1990. Deanna attended elementary school in Beaver and high school in Springville. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in the Relief Society and especially loved doing temple work. She ran a day-care for 16 years in Roosevelt, Utah and worked as a waitress for many years, particularly enjoying being of service to others. She was a "people person", a very special spirit and loved by everyone who knew her. She loved children, horses, crafts, jewelry making, her flower garden and collecting things. She is survived by her husband, Robert Wells Wentz; sons: Ron M. Wentz (Delly) of West Jordan, Utah and Rick G. Maxwell (Jodi) of Vernal, Utah; sisters: Shirley Gillies Rockwood (LaVar) of Lindon, Utah; Ida Rene Gillies McDowell (Dave) of Fairview, Utah; brother, Bonner Elmo Gillies (Diane) of Springville, Utah; stepchildren: Robin Page Wentz Allred (Carl) of Trout Creek, Utah; Kimberly Val Wentz Williams (Mont) of Spanish Fork, Utah; Utahna Myree Wentz Jessop (Shem) of Rocky Ridge, Utah; Race Wells Wentz (Marci) of American Fork, Utah; Banner Lane Wentz (Autumn) of Nephi, Utah; Christian Colt Wentz (Traci) of Spanish Fork, Utah; 28 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two babies Robert Wells Wentz, Jr. and Steven Gillies Wentz. Funeral services will be held at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville, Utah on Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 11 a.m. There will be a viewing at the mortuary Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the services.
