Pleasant - Carroll Milton Farley, 91, passed away December 3, 2005, in the Sanpete Valley Hospital. He was born December 1, 1914, in Orem, UT, to Carroll "Carl" & Mary Jane "Jennie" Terry Farley. Graduate of Lincoln High School in Orem, UT. He married Betty Kathleen Jensen on June 1, 1941, in Mt. Pleasant, UT; later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on April 15, 1964. Betty passed away May 3, 1998. Served in the Navy in WWII as a Machinist 1st Class. Was manager of Bradshaw Auto Parts in Mt. Pleasant from 1936-1980. A charter member in the Mt. Pleasant Lion's Club and also a Life member of the VFW. Carroll and Betty loved the mountains, camping, fishing, hunting, traveling, sports; and, snowbirding in their retirement years in the southwestern states. While he was in high school, Carroll won the BYU Invitational in doubles tennis. He is survived by his three daughters: Carol Jean (Dean) Corcoran, of Cedar Mountain, UT; Lynda Ann (Ralph) Bench, of Fairview, UT; Leslie Kay (Earl) Pack, of Spring, TX; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers: Merrill A Farley and Weston L. (LaVon) Farley, both of Orem, UT. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; grandson, James Dean Corcoran; sisters: Melda Hacking, Jessie Johnson, Lucille Collins; brother, Stanley T Farley. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the Mt. Pleasant 5th Ward Chapel (55 S. State). Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary in Mt. Pleasant (96 N. 100 West); and, Tuesday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Published in the Daily Herald on 12/5/2005. Francom, Sterling Sterling Johnson Francom (73) passed away December 3, 2005, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born June 6, 1932, in Palmyra, Utah, to Marlyn Francom and Wanda Johnson Francom. He married Colleen Carter on June 6, 1952, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Provo Temple. Sterling was an officer in the Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge. He spent his life serving others. He is survived by his wife; son, Sterling Mark Francom; daughter, Kathy Ann Smith; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Cynthia Jill. He loved hunting, fishing, repairing things, and being kind to everyone. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m.- Noon on December 7, 2005, at the LDS American Fork 7th Ward, 500 North 700 West, with funeral services, at Noon, at the same location. We would like to express gratitude to the Huntsman Cancer Clinic, IHC Hospice staff, and all others who comforted him. He endured to the end with honor. Ricks, Jennie Merrell Jones (Jane) 1916 - 2005 Our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Jennie (Jane) Merrell Jones Ricks, 89, passed away on December 3, 2005, in Fruita, Colorado, where she was recovering from a hip injury. A resident of Provo, Utah, for more than 20 years, Jane was born May 9, 1916, in Millcreek, Utah, to Daniel Brooks Jones and Rhoda Ann Merrell Jones. She graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City and moved to Davis, California, where she met her husband, Marc Ricks, who was studying at the University of California at Davis. They resided in California for nearly 50 years, before moving to Utah after her husband's retirement from his medical practice. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many capacities in Primary and Relief Society; and, was a worker for many years in the Oakland and Provo Temples. She and her husband, Marc, served a mission in the Washington D.C. Temple Visitors Center. She loved keeping in touch with family members and friends. She is survived by her husband, Marc Ricks, of Provo, Utah; daughter, Susan (Calvin) Baker, of McCook, Nebraska; sons: Bruce Marc Ricks (Susan), of Fruita, Colorado; Paul Grant Ricks (Linda), of Fremont, California; and Stephen David Ricks (Shirley), of Provo, Utah; 27 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters; her daughter, Kathleen Ricks Western; and a granddaughter, Ruth Baker. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at 1 p.m., at the Oak Hills 2nd Ward Chapel, 925 East North Temple Drive, Provo, Utah. Family and friends may visit on Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Oak Hills 2nd Ward, prior to the service. Interment will be in the East Lawn Cemetery.
