Many of her beloved family were blessed to spend precious time with her in the hours before her passing. Thank you, Mother. Though tears are shed at the thought of not hearing her kind words, encouragement, and wisdom; or the touch of her gentle hands, we find peace and hope in our knowledge of a sweet reunion to come! Mary Margaret was born to Florence and Andrew Christensen on October 16, 1913, in Provo, Ut. The second of eight children, she is survived by two twin brothers, and her dear sister, Gloria Kuhni. After her education, she married her sweetheart, Arthur L. Duckett, in the Salt Lake Temple. They have four children: Mary Lynne Clark, Steven A. Duckett, J. Colette Merrill, and Michele Walker; sixty-eight grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In 1971, Arthur passed away. In 1974, she married Theo Anhder. Theo became a beloved member of our family and wonderful grandfather. In later life, they served as workers in the Provo Temple. During her life, Mary worked at BYU in the College of Continuing Ed., and as the secretary to the Mayor of Provo. She was dedicated in her church service, in community affairs, and had a great desire to assist when family, friends, or neighbors needed help or spirits buoyed. A talented artist, she wrote poetry, and painted with oil and watercolors. One of her greatest loves was nature itself. Her knowledge of horticulture was vast and her gardens showed it! She loved travel, reading, politics, and fashion. She taught us things important and elegant. She loved with all her heart. Her strength, her grace, her delightful humor, and her tremendous love ... Mary, our matriarch, our friend, our teacher - we are forever grateful. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 15th, at Noon, in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem. Petersen, William Carl (Bill) William (Bill) Carl Petersen Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, William (Bill) Carl Petersen, age 65, returned to our Heavenly Father on February 11, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife and children, who all adored him. Bill was born January 2, 1940, in Ogden, Utah, to Alfred J. and Nina Beebe Petersen. He graduated from Ogden High School, earned a B.S. at Weber State College, and a Master's degree at BYU. He married Linda Hoffmann, on January 12, 1959. Their marriage was solemnized March 27, 1967 in the Logan LDS Temple. After his service in the USAF, he and Linda made their home in Riverdale and Roy, Utah, until 1971, when they moved to the Provo-Orem area to attend BYU, where, except for a period in St. George, they lived until moving to Cedar Hills last Fall. His employment included working for Union Pacific RR, HAFB; and, finally, the State of Utah as a teacher for the blind. He and Linda were also the original owners of Granny's Donut Shop in Orem. Bill's life was one of devotion and service to God and his family. His church service included ward and stake callings in both teaching and leadership positions, and at the Provo Temple. He recently completed an LDS Church service mission. Bill was a hard worker, honest, kind, and a good example. Though he lost most of his vision while in the Air Force, through his courage and determination, he accomplished many things, including his education, building several homes with his sons, running two marathons, backpacking in the High Uintahs with his sons and grandsons for 25 years, including hiking King's Peak three times, and golfing with his sons even in heat waves and snow storms. Bill's daughters always think of him as "Daddy" and he adored them. He was "Pops" to his sons. They were all best friends. He thought all his grandchildren were perfect. He taught his children how to work, how to play, how to love. He was a tease; he was tenderhearted. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. Bill and Linda were true partners in life for 46 wonderful years full of love and service to each other. They learned to meet challenges and find enjoyment in everything they did, including making homes, traveling the world, going to BYU plays, and just being together. Their lives were centered around their six children: Judi (Kyle) Rollins, Provo; Bill Jr. (Stephanie), Orem; Mike (Sallie), Logan; Jill (Vic) Steiner, Sandy; Matt (Angel), Orem; Mark (Heather), Lehi; and their 24 grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers: Gordon, Leonard (Carla), Ronald (Linda), Dan (Delores), and Alf (Michelle) Petersen; his step-mother, Carol, and eight brothers and sisters-in-law who loved him as their own: Denny (Joan) Hoffmann, Mike (Carol) Hoffmann, Shanna (Ron) Bingham, Merrill (JoAnn) Hoffmann, Rick (Kathy) Hoffmann, Dave (Lynda) Hoffmann, Susan (Jim) Tudor, Marilee Hoffmann, and over 50 nieces and nephews who lovingly called him Uncle Bill. He was greeted in heaven by his parents, Nina and Alfred Petersen; and parents-in-law, Ken and Vera Hoffmann. The family knows they will be together forever and they are eternally grateful to those responsible for bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ into their lives.
