Gammell, age 80, of Phoenix, Arizona, died Wednesday, January 5th, 2005 in Kingwood, Texas. He was born June 24, 1924, in Springville, Utah, the son of William E. Gammell and Grace (Gallup) Gammell. He married Elizabeth (Beth) Howe on February 14, 1951 at her home in Provo, Utah. He attended public schools in Provo and Orem Utah. He attended college at the University Of Washington and the Tarrant County Community College, Graduating with a Mid-Management Degree and also becoming a member of the "PHI THETA KAPPA" National Honor Fraternity. He served with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Utah and Idaho. During World War II he served in the Pacific Theater as an Infantryman and served in Vietnam in the Intelligence Field. He retired from the Army as a Sergeant Major on July 1, 1975. After retirement he became a partner in a Real Estate Company and later worked for the Better Business Bureau in Fort Worth, Texas as the Director of Arbitration. Upon moving to Phoenix, Arizona, he worked for the BBB as a membership representative. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two children: David J. Gammell of Kingwood, Texas; Richard W. Gammell of Bay City, Texas; brother, George H. Vincent of Helendale, California; and sister: Marilyn Salisbury of Bountiful, Utah. In addition, there are four grandchildren. Born February 23, 1916, daughter of Ben and Carrie Coarsen, St. John; in Marengo, IL. Educated in Marengo public schools. Met and married Vincent S. Graham, in 1943 in California. Attended UVCC; worked as a Psych Tech for 17 years at Utah State Hospital. Founding member of Orem Community Church. She enjoyed all sports. Survivors include children: Barbara (John) Patrick, of Salt Lake City; James (Chris) Graham, of Orem; and Jon Graham. Grandchildren: John Patrick and Carrie Graham. Preceded in death by husband, Vincent S. Graham; and five brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at 11:30 a.m. in the Orem City Cemetery. Celebration of life will be held following, at Orem Community Church. Ivers, Beverly June Beverly June Harding Scott Ivers In loving memory of Beverly June Harding Scott Ivers, loving wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend, who passed away peacefully on January 6, 2005 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. She was born on June 13, 1926 in Provo, Utah to Claude and Eva Clara Clarke Harding. She was the eldest of three children, brothers include, Paul and Clark Harding. Beverly was baptized a member of the LDS Church at the age of 18. She attended Provo High School, where she participated in several sports programs. She later attended BYU for a short time. She married Jack Vincent Scott Sr. in 1950, they were married for 27 years, prior to his death in 1977. She resided in Provo where she met and married her old high school sweetheart, Harold W. Ivers. They married on July 21, 1997. Throughout her lifetime, she enjoyed working at the Provo Theatre, Granite Furniture, and then for First Security Bank, from where she retired after 20 years of service. She continued working for 7 years after retirement at R.C. Willey. Beverly is survived by her husband, Harold W. Ivers of Provo; a daughter, Ann Marie Robinson of Enterprise, UT; sons, Jack Vincent (Shellie) Scott Jr.; and Gregory H. (Kim) Scott; brothers, Paul (Sally) Harding and Clark (Kay) Harding; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 10, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., in the Pioneer 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 376 North 700 West, Provo. Johnson, Beth Madsen Urie Bell Beth Madsen Urie Bell Johnson of Provo passed away January 5, 2005 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was born April 11, 1915 in Goshen, Utah to Clifford LeRoy and Ruby Stevens Madsen. She spent her early childhood in Charleston, Utah, and has resided in Provo since 1942. Beth married D. Ross Urie and bore two sons: Ross M. Urie and J. Clifford Urie. Married Junius Wm. Bell and bore one daughter: Fairy Wanda Bell. Married Glen Johnson, later divorced. Beth was "Mom" to all her children's friends. The Provo High School Football team of 1953 enjoyed her homemade breads, jams, and cakes usually twice a week. Beth worked as a cook and chef for most of her career: cooking for Provo School Lunch, head chef at the private dining room at Geneva Steel, and working at Elliott's Cafe with her good friends Carl and Ann Elliott. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After retirement from Elliott's Caf , she lived with her daughter Fairy and helped raise Fairy's children and her great-grandchildren, becoming "Mom, Grandma, and G.G." to all who knew her. Beth is survived by her son Clif Urie and daughter Fairy Morehouse (Don), sister Wanda Chaiko (George), and sister Bonnie Newkirk, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Ross Urie, sister Vyonne McClellan, and brother Keith Madsen. The family wants to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the wonderful care givers at the Art City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Springville, Utah. Loock, Darlene Ann Darlene Ann Loock, 65, of Acampo, California, passed away January 1, 2005, at her home, surrounded by loved ones. Darlene was born July 10, 1939, in Fargo, North Dakota. She married James Harlan Loock in 1956 in Fargo, North Dakota; they then moved to Los Angeles, California, where they started business in their first muffler shops in 1968. Darlene and her family then moved to Utah in 1971, where they lived until moving to Acampo, CA, in 1985. Darlene was the owner of the Muffler Man in Lodi, Stockton, and Sacramento. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church of Lodi; she was past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lodi and in Pleasant Grove, Utah #3372; and she was the former treasurer of N.A.M.I. San Joaquin County. She loved gardening, dancing, traveling, bowling, and she was an avid Elvis fan. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Quintal, of Fortuna; and Sandra Loock-Duro, of Galt; her sons: James A. Loock and John Loock, both of Lodi; her brothers, James Reynolds, of Fargo, ND; and Bernard Reynolds, of Moorhead, MN; her twin sister, Delores Moss, of Orem, Utah; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harlan Loock, and her parents. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m., January 14, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Fargo, North Dakota. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Sabin, MN. Published in the Daily Herald on 1/9/2005. Meredith, Leah Woodward Warnick Leah Woodward Warnick Meredith completed a splendid life on January 7, 2005, surrounded by her family. She often expressed her love and gratitude for parents, siblings, children, and grandchildren, and she was beloved by all of them. She was born July 25, 1919, to Cecil and Bertha Tryphena Woodward in Franklin, Idaho. She was one of eight children in an industrious farming family and spent a busy and hardworking childhood in Franklin. She learned duty and honor early and these principles served her well through eighty-five years of service and loving care for others. She met Keith Warnick while attending Utah State Agricultural College. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 30, 1939, and were blessed with four sons: Richard, Stanley, Glen, and Alan. A foster son, LaMar Hatch, also became a part of the family during his teenage years. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to the Manila Ward in Pleasant Grove, Utah, and raised their family among friends and extended family. Leah often commented that the people in the old Manila Ward really knew how to have a good time, and she loved and cherished her association with them. Keith preceded Leah in death by thirty-one years; and, ten years following his death, she married Kenneth Meredith, a family friend. Kenneth suffered from muscle degenerative disease, and Leah cared for him during most of their ten-year marriage. They lived in American Fork and she remained living there until her death. Leah was preceded in death not only by Keith and Kenneth, but also by her son, Glen. She is survived by her sons: Richard (Alaine), of Tabiona, Utah; Stanley (Linda), of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Alan (Helen), of Logan, Utah; LaMar Hatch (Debby), of Alpine, Utah; and a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Warnick, of Tremonton, Utah. She is also survived by her brother, Boyd Woodward (Margaret), of St. George, Utah; her sister, Ruth, of Provo, Utah; and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leah possessed a rock-solid testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and rejoices today to be with family and friends on the other side. Funeral services will be held in the Pacific Drive Ward chapel at 700 West 500 North in American Fork, Utah, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, January 12, 2005. Penrod, Nancy Elizabeth Drennon Nancy Elizabeth Drennon Penrod died January 7, 2005, in Payson, Utah. She was born October 30, 1929, in Blount Springs, Alabama, to Carl and Tressie Geneva Stewart Drennon. Nancy loved to read, cook, feed the birds and all the neighborhood stray animals, work in her yard, and can fruit and vegetables. She enjoyed the outdoors and traveling to the deserts of Utah and Arizona to collect semi-precious rocks, arrowheads, and antiques left by early settlers. Nancy worked in the dietary services with the Utah State Developmental Center in American Fork, where she later retired. She was a member of the Elberta Stake Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by her children: Samuel H. Corbin, Deborah K. (Kevin) House, Kathy J. Marchant, Kristy (Dallas) John, Candy S. Jenkins, and Randall F. (JoAnna) Hall; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Mary Livingston and Bill Livingston. He was born July 17, 1961, in Long Island, New York, to the late Harry Rhodes and Ann Westerback Rhodes. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Marjorie Mortensen, March 16, 1985, in the Provo LDS Temple. They later divorced. Hal attended the University of Utah. He worked in art and design. He loved the outdoors, was an avid fly fisherman and loved to meet new people. He had endured many surgeries during the past 15 years and pain was his shadow. He lived life to it's fullest, the best way he knew how. He is survived by his mother; and brother, Mark Rhodes, both of Santaquin; sons: Bevan, Daniel, and Jay Rhodes; and his ex-wife, Marjorie, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Hal, we love you and miss you. Moyes Schurtz St. George, UT - Velora L. Moyes Schurtz, born November 5, 1919, in Murtaugh, Idaho, to William R. and Minnie B. Moyes, died January 7, 2005, in West Jordan, Utah. Velora married Rudger C. Schurtz on November 21, 1935, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had five children and one foster son. She was a member of the LDS Church and she held many positions throughout her life. She worked hard and had many jobs during the years that they lived in Provo. Velora loved her family, and she loved to camp, fish, hunt, and do all sorts of cooking and crafts. Velora and Rudger lived many years in Provo, Centerfield, Hurricane, and Cedar City, Utah. She moved to West Jordan, in November 2004. She is survived by her three sons: Sherrel (Arlene), West Valley City, UT; Duane, El Paso, TX; and Dennis (Marilyn), Cedar City, UT; two daughters: Barbara (Silviano) Gonzales, Payson, UT; and Kay Lynn (Daniel) Garfield, Las Vegas, NV; and foster son; Russel (Lynda) Wilson, Redmond, UT; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, her parents, four brothers, two sisters and four grandchildren. West, Janice Cook Brimhall Janice Cook Brimhall West passed away January 7, 2005, in Roy, Utah, at the age of 75. She was born October 25, 1929, in Orem, Utah, to John McKinley and Chloe Susan Reynolds Cook. She married Wendell Roland Brimhall; they later divorced. She married Clifford "Jack" Everest West, July 2, 1958. He preceded her in death in August of 1977. Janice was very gifted with her hands and used them all her life to create handiwork. For many years, she was employed at various sewing factories, where her skills were admired by many. Janice's most treasured hobby was that of making and teaching the art of porcelain dolls. She was a loving mother and caring grandmother. She deeply loved her siblings and enjoyed family time with them. Janice will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children: Michael Brimhall, of Las Vegas, NV; Susan Frandsen, of Clearfield, UT; Danny Brimhall, of Mesa, AZ; and Anthony West, of La Quinta, CA; step-daughter, Patricia Welch, of Sacramento, CA; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Renon Wilkerson, Gloria Hicken, Mack Cook, Carol Myrup, and David Cook. Preceded in death by her husband, Jack; step-daughter, Jaclyn Smith; and by two sisters, Elaine Brereton and Maxine Cook; and by grandson, Scott Michael Frandsen.
