She was born July 1, 1919, in Beaver, UT, the daughter of John Hyrum and Lydia Debra Dunning Pollock. Always grateful for things great and small, she believed that life and its blessings were gifts from a loving Father in Heaven. During her childhood in Salt Lake City and all her life, she imparted her love of music to adults and children alike. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren still sing the songs she taught them. Her adult life was spent in Albuquerque, NM and Orem, UT. She blessed the lives of countless people as a mother, as a member of the LDS Church, President of the Albuquerque Association for Retarded Children, member of the PEO educational sisterhood, through her work at Bandelier Food Market, Hanna's Super Market, Corrales Market and Valley High School and through her constant goodwill as a neighbor and friend. After moving to Utah in 1975, she continued her years of service in the Alpine School District, the Utah Association for Retarded Citizens, the San Diego LDS Mission and with "Kids on the Move," a pre-school early intervention program in Orem. In the days preceding her death, she knew her family was near and she listened to expressions of love from her grandchildren. She wore a Chinese ring inscribed "I Love," that was acquired while traveling the world during retirement with her sister, Marjorie Komadina. Throughout her life, her heart went out to the people she met. Whether in China, Sarajevo, Africa, India or her own neighborhood, she saw the divine goodness in others and wished only good for them. Among loved ones who have gone before, she is welcomed by her youngest son, Phillip Hanna, who died in 1978. Published in the Daily Herald from 1/13/2005 - 1/14/2005. Jensen, Howard L. PROVO Howard L Jensen, 94, wrapped in the loving arms of his children, returned to his Heavenly Father, Monday, January 10, 2005, at his daughter's home in St. George, UT. Howard was born October 29, 1910, in Magrath, Canada, to Lehi and Christiana Andersen Jensen. It was in Canada, that he learned the value of hard work as foreman on his father's ranch and the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, taught to him in his home. Both traits grew ever stronger as he happily went through his mortal life. Howard loved living and found great joy in his existence. He became a self made poet and loved to rhyme words. He found every book, worth reading and never missed an opportunity to learn. He had a singing voice that would melt your heart, danced like Fred Astair and a whistle that was as gentle as the wind or could pierce the evening air, to call his children home. Although he had only an 11th grade education, he became masterful in many areas. He learned to build houses and many did he erect. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called him on numerous missions. The first as a teenager to his kindred land of Denmark. Then again he was called as Purchasing Agent to the British Isles. There he took his wife and family and served happily at the office in London, helping in the course of creating chapels. He was also set apart as a temple sealer, at the London Temple. He worked diligently in the area to bring about the conversion of many people, to the gospel that he loved. Howard immersed himself with the English citizens and became one with them. Many a dear "Brit" still calls him friend. After returning to the U.S. he went to work for McDonald-Douglas, in their space program. Moving his family to California, he worked as Purchasing Agent for the building of a man-orbiting laboratory (MOL). There he was called to another mission and again was instrumental in bringing about many conversions. His spirit was strong and his testimony of his beloved gospel equally fervent. Eagle scouts soured when Howard was their scoutmaster. His enthusuasm with his brother-in-law Eldon Nelson put together (according to their scouts) the "best team ever." They took the boys from A to Z and Timbuktu and back, what an experience for all. Scouting did not stop there it went on for decades, wherever Howard went. In his later years he became a land developer. He developed much of the left fork of Springville Canyon, sections in Duchesne County, near Fruitland, that Howard named Valley del Padre. And dabbled in real estate all around Utah. He loved the outdoors and never failed to exclaim, "what a beautiful world we live in." Howard always felt blessed with what his Lord had imparted to him and he freely shared to all who came in need. Howard met his sweetheart Thelma Nelson on Valentines Day 1932. He was returning from his mission to Denmark, with his companion Elder Eldon Nelson. A prank was to ensue and Howard was to knock on the front door and Elder Nelson, would slip in the back door to surprise the family. As he knocked at the door and it opened "the most beautiful girl I ever saw was standing there." Thelma and Howard were married May 1, 1935, in the Salt Lake Temple. She preceded him in death December 1994, after 59 years of happiness. He met Elaine Parcell and they were married May 1, 1997. From that union came an extended family that he loved as his own. He and Elaine found joy together for the time that was theirs, they called their home, "the laughing place." Howard is survived by his children, Kairle (Glade) Terry, Provo; Karma (Gary) Fryer, St. George, Sharon (Brent) Fryer, St. George; Tamara (Bill) Dyet, St. George; Paul Jensen, Reno; David (Joan) Jensen, Orem, his sister Roxy Crossley, twenty-five grandchildren and fifty-six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma, their baby daughter Jane Ellen Jensen, father and mother Lehi and Jana, his brothers Chester and Donald Jensen and sister Velva Stay and granddaughter Ane Christiana Jensen. Howard's family extends their love and heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Odyssey Hospice Care in Provo and St. George, especially his angel Susie. Their kind care and support will never be forgotten. Dad couldn't have made it without you. Nether could have we. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January, 15, 2005 at 11 am at the Bonneville 4th Ward at 1289 E. 300 S. Provo. Friends and family may visit at the chapel Friday evening from 6pm-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Indian Services, 1902 N Canyon Rd #100, Provo, Utah 84604. Published in the Daily Herald on 1/14/2005. Thompson, Richard B.
