Wolsey, Robert Bruce Our beloved Robert Bruce Wolsey, 85, of Orem, Utah, completed his journey through this mortal life on January 22, 2005. He returned home with honor into the waiting arms of his Heavenly Father and Mother. Bob was born on the 11th day of May, 1919 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, the seventh of thirteen children born to Luther Justin and Mary Eliza Spence Wolsey. Dad grew up in Cardston and was schooled there. One of his best teachers was Nathan Eldon Tanner, who later became an Apostle in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dad's was a very loving and close-knit family. They learned to work hard and play together. When he was just 13 years old, his father passed away, leaving his mother to raise the children on her own. As always, the family pulled together to help each other and their mother. In 1939 Dad came to the United States and attended barber school in Salt Lake City. Upon completion of that schooling he moved to Provo and opened his own shop. "Bob's "Y" Barber Shop" was well known for over 60 years, and he was "famous" among the missionaries for that perfect cut. In May of 1941 Dad met the love of his life, Lyle Sharp, at a church dance. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in September of that same year. They spent 62 wonderful years together before Mom's passing in 2003. Daddy's life was one of service. Service to his country during World War II. Service to his community through his chosen profession, and the Jaycees and Kiwanis Clubs. Service in many callings as a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Sunday School, in his priesthood quorums, in the Young Men's program, as a worker in the Provo Temple, and as a Scouter extraordinaire. Dad loved the scouting program and spent many years in many different facets of the program. He is an Eagle Scout and has received the Silver Beaver, Silver Crest and Provo Peak Scouter Awards. He was trained at Philmont, and also served as the chairman of The National Eagle Scout Association for the Utah National Parks Council. His greatest calling and service was that of husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. We love and honor him for his life and ours, and for his example for all of us. Welcoming him home are his parents, his dear wife Lyle, his son Robert, his granddaughter Christena, and his brothers and sisters with the exception of Sarah and Heber who remain here. He also leaves behind five children and their spouses and families. His daughter Sharlene (Paul) Thomas, their 5 children and 14 grandchildren, his son Bruce Eldon (Shanna), their 4 children and 10 grandchildren, with one more coming this year, his daughter Marilyn (Steve) Johnson, their 4 children and 7 grandchildren, his daughter Sherri (Aaron) Shepherd, her 3 children and 7 grandchildren, his son Howard Brent (Evelyn), their 2 children and 4 grandchildren. As a family we wish to express our love and deep appreciation to everyone at The Seville and his branch there; to Applegate Hospice, Dr. Sean Curzon, Janice, Myken, Matt, Kory, Ron, Barbara, and all others who have assisted and supported us during this difficult time. There will be a celebration of Dad's life on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m., at the Orem Park Stake Center, 195 West 300 South, Orem, Utah. Family and friends may visit at the Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah on Tuesday, January 25, 2005, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in the Provo City Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the American Legion, Post 72.
