All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ut/utfiles.htm *********************************************************************** Source: Daily Herald http://www.daily-herald.com Barth, William Henry "Bill" William Henry "Bill" Barth 1926 ~ 2005, born November 19th, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to William Henry Barth Sr. and Emma Marie Barth, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, in Salt Lake City, Utah, on January 29th, 2005, surrounded by his family. Bill served valiantly in the United States Navy during World War II. After being honorably discharged, Bill married his long-time sweetheart, Harriet "Charlie" Mae Hooper, on March 31st, 1948. Harriet passed away on April 4th, 1996. Bill later married Alma Warner of Spanish Fork, Utah, on March 21st, 1998. Bill moved to Provo, Utah, in 1948, with his wife, Harriet. Bill began a long and successful career in sales, including advertising for the Daily Herald, as well as KOVO and KEYY radio stations. He then became an automobile sales professional for Naylor Auto, where he retired 1996. Bill served as a volunteer in capacities such as PTA President, Boy Scout leader, and at the Spanish Fork Senior Center. He was a volunteer for the Girls Scouts of America, as well. He was also a Freemason. Bill enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling; and dancing, which is how he met and fell in love with his second wife, Alma. Bill was an avid fan of University of Utah football, the Utah Jazz, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, big smile, and the countless friends he made. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, with a wonderful family, including his children: Vicki (Terry) Swanson, of Salt Lake City; Bill (Megan) Barth, of Bountiful; Sandra (Craig) Stark, of Salt Lake City; and Michael (Connie) Barth, of Draper. He is also survived by five stepchildren and their spouses, thirty-nine grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Friends and family may express their condolences on Tuesday, February 1st, from 6-8 p.m., at Walker Mortuary in Spanish Fork, located at 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah. A memorial celebration of Bill's life will also be held Wednesday, February 2nd, at the Leland Ward Chapel, 400 North 650 West Spanish Fork, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Bill requested that donations be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, or Disabled American Veterans Association. Binder, Joy Davis Joy Davis Binder passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2005, at the Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Provo, Utah. She was born May 10, 1949, in Payson, Utah, to Sterling N. And Leora E. Davis. She married Julius Binder on August 1, 1973, in Provo. They were sealed June 26, 1997, in the Provo LDS Temple. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings. Joy was a very loving and special person; and, along with her husband, enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. Survivors include her husband, and mother, two sisters: Carol (James ) Allred, Gay (Mark) Pulham; and one brother, Robert (Ronda) Davis; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, and one sister, Connie Nelson; and a niece, Tia Pulham, whom she loved and who loved her. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the Rivergrove 3rd Ward Chapel, 450 North 1200 West. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 85 East 300 South, Provo, Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m.; or, at the church, Wednesday, from 10-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo. Jordan, Ella Rose Newman Ella Rose Newman Jordan, 85, of Orem, passed away Friday, January 28, 2005, at the American Fork Hospital. She was born April 22, 1919, in Fayette, Utah, a daughter of Henry LeRoy and Roseybell Lisonbee Pierce. She was the second oldest of nine children. She lived her early years in Spanish Fork, Utah. She married Earnest Leander Christensen, and they had four children. She later married Richard Cullimore Newman. They moved to Orem, Utah, where they spent many happy years. Together, they had two children. They were sealed in the Manti Temple, July 2, 1963. He passed away December 8, 1970. She married Charles Kennith Jordan in 1982. He passed away in 1995. She has six children: Dennis Leander Christiansen, Patrica Rose Thomas, Marcella Jean Shepherd, Joyce Laurel Tomaino, Ronald Lee Newman, and Keith Richard Newman; 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, two sons, five brothers, two granddaughters, and one great granddaughter. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, February 1st, at Noon, in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, 600 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove. Nelson, Howard Raymond Howard Raymond Nelson, 89, of Orem, Utah, our caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, and friend, passed away January 29, 2005. He was born August 4, 1915, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, to Raymond and Anna Hansen Nelson. He married Glennes LeeMaster on August 30, 1939, in the Salt Lake City L.D.S. Temple. They spent 65 wonderful years together! He attended school in Pleasant Grove and also Brigham Young University. He worked in the Scouting program for 24 years... starting with the Cub Scouts, then Boy Scouts, and Explorers. He served as Field Commissioner of Exploring; he was on the staff of Explorer Woodbadge #12, and spent two summers at the Philmont Scout Ranch, on the staff. He was an instructor for the Red Cross in first aid and swimming. During these years, he earned many awards, including his Silver Beaver. He loved working in his shop; and, all of his family, big and little, plus many friends, received many beautiful gifts to remember him by. He enjoyed the fourteen years he and his wife worked in the Utah Valley Visitor Center and treasured all the friends they made and helped. He loved the outdoors and fishing, but more than anything, being with his family and friends. Howard was known by many names including, "Pop", "Dad", "Howie", "Mr. Blue Eyes that never stopped twinkling", "Silver Fox", "Gramps", "Grandpa Great", to name a few. Howard will be remembered by his contagious smile and his great stories. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Keith; and his son, Wayne. Howard is survived by his wife, Glennes; and their five children: Leland (Kathy) Nelson, of Orem; Karen (Kelley) Fowler, of Denver; Karl Nelson, of Heber; Steven (Launa) Nelson, of Springville; and Sheri Nelson, of Springville. Howard is also survived by his sister, Dorothy (Hyrum) Bradley, of Fruit Heights. Howard left a wonderful heritage behind - 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the Cascade Chapel at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary. Friends and family may call from 9:45-10:45 a.m. before the service.
