She was born in Los Angeles, California, January 17, 1925, the older of two daughters of Robert C. Davis and Vonnie Bertha Burnett. She attended BYU and was married in 1949, after which she lived in LA as her four children arrived. A Master Teacher in the LA City School District for over 30 years, she received her M.Ed. in 1974, and moved to Provo in 1989, after retirement, to be near her grown children. She treasured her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was a source of satisfying involvement all her life: she served in Primary and Relief Society presidencies, was a brilliantly-prepared Sunday School teacher, and could carry out with pride the duties of all positions in the Provo Temple, where she worked from the time she moved here. She was an avid genealogist. She had many other loves: swimming, at the beach or in the pool; big band music and dancing; study; travel. She traveled the world over, from Russia to New Zealand, from Egypt and Israel to Europe and Hawaii. Her family loves to wear the beautiful sweaters she knitted and crocheted for them. She was always busy, always upbeat, always clear about how things should be and strong in the faith that they could be as they should be. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lockey Elizabeth. She is survived by her sister Millie (Fred) Lange of Orem, son Jeff (Nick) W. Nichols III (Julie) of Provo, son Robert Burke Nichols (Annette) of Salt Lake City, daughter Victoria Lyn (Lance) Pierson of Etonville, Washington; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at the Edgemont South Stake Center, 350 East 2950 North, Provo at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and neighbors at 1:00. Graveside services at East Lawn Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. June 29, 2005. Published in the Daily Herald on 7/3/2005.
