She had fought a courageous fight with Leukemia. She was born January 18, 1929, in El Camino, California. Her parents were Lee A. Morris and Evaline Hancock Morris. Married Elwood C. Hunt on Feb. 17, 1950, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in various callings, including 3 full time missions with her husband. She is the mother of 10 children. Craig (Sheila) Hunt, Kathy (Randy) Sermon, Marsha (Doug) Bennett, Randy (Lisa) Hunt, Tim (Tonya) Hunt, Arnold (Janine) Hunt, Sharlene (Randy) Fuja, Judy (Dave) Nolan, Robert (Carol) Hunt, David (Melinda) Hunt. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharlene. She has 41 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 18, 2005, at the Lehi 5th Ward Chapel, 300 North 500 East at 11:00 a.m. The viewing will be Sunday, July 17th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary in Lehi. Published in the Daily Herald on 7/14/2005. Monk, Banks Banks Monk Banks Monk, 84, lifetime resident of Palmyra, Utah passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at his home.. He was born to David William Monk and Mary E. Banks on June 6, 1921. Banks married Marva Bethers on June 12, 1977 in Ely, Nevada. Their marriage was later sealed in the Provo Temple on November 19, 1983. Banks was an active member of the LDS Church, most recently being an ordinance worker in the Provo Temple. Dairy Farming was his life. He also served on the West Field Irrigation Board for many years and was a charter member of the Diamond Fork Riding Club. Banks is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; stepson, Paul Farrell; and two brothers, Frank Monk and Dean Monk. He is survived by five stepchildren: Dean (Diane) Farrell of Washington, Susan (Dennis) Casper and Bruce (Cindy) Farrel of Spanish Fork, Burt Farrell of Payson, Bart Farrell of Arizona; 10 step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Edward Monk of Mt. Pleasant, Roy (Jolene) Monk of Palmyra; one sister, Preal (Lynn) Zufelt of Pleasant Grove; and many nieces and nephew to whom he was like a grandfather. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Palmyra Ward Chapel, 1866 West 5000 South. Friends and relatives may call at Walker Family Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, Thursday, July 14, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Friday, one hour prior to services. Smith, Malin Ross Malin Ross Smith Malin received a new calling and obediently left this earth on July 13, 2005. He was born on Nov. 18, 1909 in Lund, Nevada to Heber A. Smith and Lillie J. Burgess. He was educated in Lund and learned the lessons of hard work on the ranch working beside his father and siblings. Malin was the second of eight children. He is survived by two sisters, Irma Rae Fairbourn and Iona Hatfield, two brothers Kay Smith and Curtis Smith. Jay, Vonda and Belva preceded him in death. He married Marval Atwood on July 14, 1933 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of four children: Kent and Gordon of Boise, Idaho, Steven of Tremonton and Jo Anne of Salt Lake City. They raised their children in Lehi. Kent died as a teenager in December of 1949. Malin was trained as an electrician and worked for Geneva Steel for many years. He was also a building contractor and had great pride in the homes he had built in the valley in his spare time. Malin took his church callings seriously and served in many capacities including as a member of a bishopric. He and Marval served a mission in New York after his retirement. Malin and Marval are the grandparents of eleven grandchildren and have numerous relatives with whom he felt a strong connection. Farewell and funeral services will be held on Friday July 15, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the LDS Chapel located at 1250 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Tolman, Margaret Mina Margaret Mina Hartvigsen Tolman Margaret Hartvigsen Tolman, 80, passed peacefully from this life on Friday evening, July 8, 2005. Margaret was born May 8, 1925 in Genola to Margaret May Thomas and Arthur Lorenzo Hartvigsen. She spent her early years in Genola and Santaquin. During World War II she worked in California as an aircraft riveter. In 1945 she was employed as a teacher in Dragerton (Carbon County). That is where she met, and on December 24, 1945, married Vaughn Cyril Tolman. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Salem where they raised their four children. They were later divorced. Margaret lived in Salem, Utah; LaVerkin, Utah; and in Salem, Missouri. During her 80 years, she was a mother, homemaker, teacher, and nurses aide to the elderly. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church serving in many callings. She especially enjoyed teaching literature lessons to the Relief Society sisters. She wrote many poems over the years as well as many tributes to friends and relatives. She loved crossword puzzles. Margaret is survived by her siblings: Arthur, Asa Curtis, Randall (Sybil), Mary Lou Durrant, Thomas, Shirley (Bob) Peterson, Marda (Kay) Mendenhall; sister-in-law, Jesse Hartvigsen; her children: Tom (Mary Beth), Barbara Ann Chenault, Don (Amber), Larry (Celeste); 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her former husband; parents; and siblings: Winifred (Lester) Gee, Jim (Doris) Burraston, Elvira Hartvigsen, Marjorie Peterson Taylor, Ruth (Lloyd) Mills, John Hartvigsen, Melvin Hartvigsen; sister-in-law, Norma Hartvigsen; and brother-in-law, Jim Durrant. As a family, we wish to thank the staff at Art City Nursing and Rehab in Springville; as well as Comfort Care Hospice for their very professional and caring service to Mom. A special thanks also to Bishop Vaud Hanks, the Salem 1st Ward Relief Society, and Salem 1st Ward Members. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Salem 1st Ward Chapel, 60 South Main. A viewing will be held Friday, July 15, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Family Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, Utah, and on Saturday morning at the church one hour prior to the services.
