She was born August 7, 1947 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Harold "Hap" LaMar and Thelma Elizabeth Jacobson Allen. Linda was a kind and loving person who devoted her life to taking care of others. She loved animals, especially her dogs. She is survived by a brother, James (Nancy) Allen, Salem, Oregon, two sisters, Pat Nielson, Provo, LuAnn Brito, Holladay, and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be held Monday, July 18th at 11:00 a.m. at the Santaquin City Cemetery. Chruma, Arthur S. "Jeff" Arthur S. "Jeff" Chruma, 94, longtime resident of Lehi, Utah passed peacefully away Wednesday, July 13, 2005, in the presence of his loving family at the American Fork hospital after respiratory complications due to pneumonia. He was born February 8, 1911 in Phillips, Wisconsin and married Donna J. Nelson on December 23, 1940 in Redding, California. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Utah Valley. Jeff served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, afterwhich he had a long career in construction and iron work, primarily at Geneva Steel, until retirement in 1976. Jeff will be remembered as a beloved family patriarch who loved camping, fishing, hunting, baseball, reading, and just being with his family. He will be sorrely missed. The family wishes to thank the medical and nursing staff of American Fork Hospital for their care and kindness during the past few weeks. Published in the Daily Herald on 7/15/2005. Danner, Robert Max Robert Max Danner Robert Max Danner, age 74, passed away July 11, 2005 in Casa Grande, Arizona. He was born August 20, 1930 in Provo, Utah to Arnold C. "Jack" and Grace Arline Lewis Danner. He married Betty Louise Anderson, she preceded him in death on June 9, 2004. Robert retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He also retired from Pittsburgh Des Moines. He enjoyed collecting scale model cars, and traveling with his wife. He is survived by four children: Carla Farley of Clinton, Utah; Jack Danner of New Castle, Indiana; Gary Danner of Orem, Utah; and Lisa Scott of Orem, Utah; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Olsen of Buckeye, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife, and by his brothers, Donald and Richard Danner. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 18, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo. Holien, Phyllis June Hilton Phyllis June Hilton Holien, 88, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. She was born May 7, 1917 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Joseph Clarence and Gladys Muriel Richins Hilton. She married Raymond Richard Holien on September 28, 1947 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Phyllis loved to travel and lived with her family in Germany and many states in the U. S. She was an accomplished pianist who played in dance bands and served as organist in her ward. She worked in several capacities as a secretary and was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Phyllis loved the beauties of nature and enjoyed the birds and plants of her desert and mountain homes. Our mother, grandmother, and sister was loved by all who met her. She had a beautiful sweet spirit which served as an example to all. We will miss her more than she could know. She is survived by her three children: Julie Peel, Salt Lake City, UT; Richard (Deborah) Holien, Queen Creek, AZ; Raymond Scott (Deborah) Holien, LaVerkin, UT; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings: Barney Hilton, Salt Lake; Claire Huish, Provo; Joseph, John and Glade Hilton all of Pleasant Grove. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond in 2004. Published in the Daily Herald on 7/15/2005. Holley, Clara Jane Clara Jane (Carpenter) Holley died peacefully at Logan Nursing Facility on July 13, 2005 of complications due to a brain tumor. She was born in Duluth, MN on August 13, 1914. She graduated from high school and started college at 16. As a young adult, she was very adventurous and worked all over the country, including Alaska and Washington DC before finally settling in California. She moved to Provo, UT in 1972, where she took a job at BYU as LaVell Edwards secretary, retiring in 1980. Clara was loved by all those whose lives she touched. Although we are very happy for her, she will be sorely missed by her husband, Earl H. Holley, her children, Betty Christenson, Melinda DeWit, Jeff Hanes, Maureen Waters, Leah Gifford, Cherryl Muhlstein, Cliff Holley and her 42 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by Bruce Holley. A memorial service will be held to honor her on Monday, July 18, 2005 at 11:00 AM, preceded by the viewing at 10:00 AM in the River Ridge 1st Ward building located at 1120 East 600 North in Orem, UT. Published in the Daily Herald on 7/15/2005. Jakeman, Duella Opal Duella Opal Jakeman passed away July 13, 2005 in her home of respiratory and congestive heart failure. At the time of her passing, she was under the watchful and loving care of her husband and hospice staff. Duella was born June 24, 1919 in Aurora, Utah the last child of Ezra Artemus Stevens and Maud McDonald Stevens. She married John Kenneth Jakeman in Coalville, Utah on February 26, 1947 and later solemnized the marriage in the Salt Lake Temple. Duella had five children: Glenn Jakeman (Yakima, WA), Kenneth Jakeman (Murray, UT), and three from a previous marriage, Gloria (Hanks) Galloway (Saratoga Springs, UT), Larry Hanks (Ogden, UT), and Gregory Hanks (Aloha, OR). She also has 32 grandchildren, 65 plus great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Her parents, two older sisters Reva and Dicie and an older brother Don preceded her in death. Not only are her talents in the arts of music and painting renowned but she is also recognized for her abundant capacity to make others feel loved and appreciated. Scores of times has she walked up to a stranger, began a conversation and left making them feel better for having met her. We will sorely miss her. She and Dad served an LDS Mission to Adam-ondi-ahman, in Missouri. One of her paintings of Adam-ondi-ahman still hangs in the missionary meeting room. Services will be Saturday, July 16 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden Stake Center, 1028 West 1000 North, Pleasant Grove. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services. Zabriskie, Gladys Maurine Gladys Maurine Van Wagenen Zabriskie, age 81, of Provo, passed away July 12, 2005, at the Orchard Park Care Center in Orem. She was born May 29, 1924 in Benjamin, Utah to Roscoe David and Bessie Mae Hedenberg Van Wagenen. She married Merrill H. "Brick" Zabriskie on May 29, 1947 in Provo, Utah. "Brick" preceded her in death on October 31, 1995. Maurine lived most of her life in Provo. She was employed by Albertson s as a Variety Manager, and retired in 1989. She returned to work, and was employed by Food For Less, until her official retirement in 2002. In addition to working full time, she was a loving and fun wife, mother and grandmother. The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to the staff at Orchard Park Care Center for their loving care of Maurine. She is survived by her three daughters: Dianne Reynaud of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. Rick (Julie) Brown of Provo, Utah; and Mrs. Bert (Sherrie) Durrant of Provo, Utah; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, David, and by a great-grandson, Jordan Beardall; and also by four sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 18, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
