Shannon was born January 9, 1966 the daughter of Richard Zeman and Jeanne Terwilliger. She was raised in La Crosse, WI and the surrounding area. At twenty she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and moved to Utah. She married her missionary love Kenneth C. Abel on May 27, 1988. They have two children Megan Ardelle (12) and Kenneth Mitchell (6). They had called Pleasant Grove home until two years ago when events arose that separated Ken and Shannon. Shannon had her unfair share of life's struggles and battled them courageously. Her recent return to her family in WI had been positive and she was on the road to healing. Shannon loved her children and always did everything she could for them; even after returning home to Wisconsin she spoke with her kids everyday. She did her best to stay involved in their lives. They will miss their mom. Shannon s service to those around her in the neighborhood and in the Church was always a joy for her. She served in many areas including the Young Women, Primary, and Relief Society. She always made sure that new mom s and their family s were provided a turkey dinner on the arrival of their new baby. Shannon s funeral was held on Friday July 15 in Viroqua, WI. She was buried next to her brother, Richard "RJ" Zeman in La Crosse, WI. A celebration of Shannon s life will be held for friends and family on Thursday July 21 at 10:00 am in the Battlecreek 2nd Ward Chapel located at 1250 E 200 S Pleasant Grove. Published in the Daily Herald on 7/17/2005. Andrews, Barbara Wasden Barbara Wasden Andrews, 76, of Little Rock, Arkansas died Friday, July 1, 2005. She was born April 14, 1929 in Provo, Utah to Leland C. and Violet Powell Wasden. After graduating from Provo High School, Barbara was employed by Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah where she met her husband, Stanley H. Andrews. She worked for J.C. Penny's in Little Rock for 28 years, retiring in December of 1996. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, daughters Micki A. Sloan of Lonoke, Arkansas, Rosemary Andrews of Minnesota, sons, David M. Andrews and Thomas H. Andrews, both of Little Rock. One grandson, Logan H. Andrews, Little Rock and a sister, Carroll W. Christensen of Spanish Fork, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents. Barbara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Graveside memorial services were held on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at Evergreen Cemetery in Judsonia, Arkansas. Published in the Daily Herald on 7/17/2005. Chruma, Jeff Lehi - Arthur S. "Jeff" Chruma, 94, longtime resident of Lehi, Utah, passed peacefully away, Wednesday, July 13, 2005, in the presence of his loving family, at the American Fork hospital after respiratory complications due to pneumonia. He was born February 8, 1911, in Phillips, Wisconsin, and married Donna J. Nelson on December 23, 1940, in Redding, California. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Utah Valley. Jeff served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, after which he had a long career in construction and iron work, primarily at Geneva Steel, until retirement in 1976. Jeff will be remembered as a beloved family patriarch who loved camping, fishing, hunting, baseball, reading, and just being with his family. He will be sorely missed. Jeff is survived by his wife of 64 years, Donna; two sons, Jerry and Jack; and two daughters, Vicki Thomas and Jillian Conder; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the medical and nursing staff of American Fork Hospital for their care and kindness during the past few weeks. Logan J Haskell, 21, died July 11, 2005, in Denver, Colorado, the result of an auto accident. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 18, at 4 p.m., at the Payson Cemetery, 805 East 400 North. She was called back into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 13, 2005. Maryah was born at Allen Memorial Hospital in Moab, Utah. Maryah is the daughter of Jason Kohl-Pettingill and Candace Gene Carter. Maryah is survived by her parents of Moab, Utah; sister, Zoe; brothers: Jason, Paul, and Jordan; grandparents: Frank Pettingill of Richfield, Utah; Abraham and Bonnie Jared of Riverside, California; and Ronald and Margaret Pope of Orem, Utah; great-grandparent, Dorothy Baker of Brawley, California. Maryah also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Maryah s spirit will live on within our hearts and will never be forgotten. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2005, in the Provo 8th Ward Chapel, 502 East 200 North. Friends and family may call from 11:45-12:45 prior to the services at the church. Porter, Melva Jean Melva Jean Porter, 70, of Springville, passed away July 14, 2005, in Provo. She was born April 5, 1935, a daughter of Melvin O. and Agnes L. Rice Porter, in Helper, Utah. Melva attended schools in Helper and Price and graduated from Ogden High School. As a young teenager, Melva was diagnosed with a debilitating disease, which she suffered from her entire life. We rejoice in the knowledge that she is now free from her mortal body and able to do all those things she was unable to do in this life. Survivors include her brothers: E. Ross (Elizabeth) Porter, of Orem, UT; Lynn K. (Ann) Porter, of Ft. Collins, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Burrell R. (Rose) Porter, and Vernon W. Porter. Interment will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at 3 p.m., in the Helper City Cemetery. Rons, our beloved Dad, passed away June 13, at Heritage Care Center in American Fork, with his daughter, Gloria, and his favorite little buddy, Dude, at his side. Morris was born November 18, 1914, in Castle Gate, Utah, and was raised in the coal town of Hiawatha, where he worked in the mines until joining the Army in 1942. He was with the 81st Field Hospital that landed on Utah Beach and went on to liberate Dachau Concentration Camp. He married Leola Seguine in 1951, who preceded him in death in 1983. Also preceding him in death were his father, Alexander, and mother, Stella; and his sisters, Rose, Lydia, and Ruth. He is survived by his daughter, Gloria Roundy, of American Fork; his son, Kemit Johnson, of Salt Lake City; and his nephews, Glen & Gary Davis, Claude & John Zobell, Neil Stratton; and niece, Fawn Cole. He will also be missed by his grandchildren: Steve, Brad, Aaron, and Sarah. The family thanks all the staff at Heritage Care Center for the tender, loving care he received. Shumaker, Parker Rodger Parker Rodger Shumaker October 28, 2003 July 15, 2005 Parker Rodger Shumaker, age 20 months, passed away in his mother s arms, with his father by his side, on Friday, July 15, 2005, following heart surgery. Parker was born October 28, 2003. He lived each day of his life with a sparkle in his eyes, a smile on his face, and was always full of energy and happiness. He touched the lives of many through that happiness and his cheerful spirit. He always had the desire to learn and discover the world. Even though he had some health problems, he showed amazing strength to carry out his mission on earth. He will be greatly missed by all those with whom he came in contact. He is survived by his parents, Rodger and Lindi MacArthur Shumaker, of Orem, Utah; grandparents, Jim and Sherri MacArthur, of Orem, Utah; and Rodger and Patti Shumaker, of Stover, Missouri; two great grandparents; seventeen aunts and uncles; and thirty-five cousins. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at Noon, in the Aspen 9th Ward Chapel, 828 West 1600 North in Orem. The viewing will be Monday, July 18th, from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem; and, at the chapel on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
