Reed was born on July 17, 1917, in Hyrum, Utah. He was the oldest of three boys born to Russell Gale and Aleda Anderson Allen. Reed was raised and schooled in Hyrum, Utah. He graduated from South Cache High School in 1935. Graduated from Utah State Agriculture College in Industrial Arts in 1942, and later received his MasterŐs Degree from Utah State University. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in Czechoslovakia. He married Pearl Irene Hofler in the Logan LDS Temple on December 21, 1939. They were blessed with four children. Reed held many administrative positions at what is now known as UVSC, retiring with 33 years of service. He also helped to establish the Navajo Community College in Many Farms, Arizona. Reed enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and family genealogy. He was a great craftsman, and historian. Reed had a remarkable memory and never forgot a name or a date. He was a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers. He is survived by a brother, Charles A. Allen of Logan, Utah; children: Louise Brown of Tempe, Arizona; Kathryn (Roger) Edwards of Midvale, Utah; Reed R. Allen, Jr. of Provo, Utah; and Richard G. Allen of San Jose, California. He had 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, with one more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thair G. Allen; wife; son-in-law, Gregory S. Brown; grand son-in-law, Treavor Jolley; and a great grandson, Dylan T. Jolley. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Berg Mortuary in Provo, 180 E. Center Street. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Pleasant View 9th Ward Chapel, 2445 N. 650 East, Provo, Utah, with a viewing at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. before the funeral. Jarvis, LaRue Bagshaw Peterson LaRue Bagshaw Peterson Jarvis, our beautiful mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully, July 24, 2005, in Payson, two days short of her 91st birthday. She was surrounded by her family, of whom she was so proud. She was born July 26, 1914, to Mamie Moyes and Joseph Bagshaw in Beaver, Utah. She married John Herbert Peterson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; he preceded her in death. She married Earl Jarvis, who also preceded her in death. She worked at BobŐs CafŽ in Payson and at BYU for 15 years. She was the administrator and was instrumental in establishing the Senior Citizens in Santaquin. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was over the annual Poppy Drive for many years. She was the head tour lady for Western Pleasures Tour, and took great pleasure in arranging tours for many people. She was an avid sports fan and loved the Atlantic (Atlanta) Braves. She was a member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings. She was known for being a wonderful cook, making quilts, and her beautiful crocheting. She is survived by her children: Richard (Kay) Peterson, Mapleton; Darlene (Earl) Peterson, Spanish Fork; Jay (Carol) Peterson, Salt Lake; Gary (Nancy) Jarvis, Payson; Jolene Lefler, Payson; Joe (Bev) Jarvis, Tucson, Arizona; Paul (Darla) Jarvis, Santaquin; Bonnie (Brad) Finch, Santaquin; Debbie (Don) Hopes, Goshen. She is also survived by five generations of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; and a sister, Leola Ross, Salt Lake. She was preceded in death by sons: Glade Peterson, Danny Jarvis; step-children: Glen, Phyllis, Dorothy, LaMar, Russell, and Bill; two sisters and four brothers, and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 28, at 11 a.m. in the Old Santaquin Stake Center, 90 South 200 East. Friends may call at Holladay-Brown Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m.; and, Thursday, at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Santaquin Cemetery.
