She was born September 4, 1930, in Lehi, Utah, to William Matthew & Elmeda Carson. She graduated from Lehi High School and was employed as a Floor Supervisor at Bayley Manufacturing in Pleasant Grove, Utah, for 15 years. She was president of the Altar Society of Saint Peter's Catholic Church in American Fork, Utah. She was a member of the Saint Francis Catholic Church. Joyce married Joseph Hauzen, January 19, 1948, in Elko, Nevada. They later divorced. Mom was very well respected and was loved instantly by everyone who met her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. Joyce had good common sense and spoke her mind freely, but never preached or judged others. She loved her family unconditionally and was the perfect mother and grandmother. Joyce always made sure that her family stayed close to each other and was happiest when surrounded by her entire family in the midst of all the noise and chaos. Her grandchildren were her life. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. "We love you Grandma Tootie." She is survived by her 5 children, sons, Joseph B. (Janice) Hauzen, Craig M. Hauzen, Mark T. (Joan) Hauzen, all of Orem, daughters, Theresa (Wayne) Luck and Mariam (Tom) Thomas, both of Orem. She has 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way, a brother, J. Robert (Lou) Carson. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 9, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the St. Francis Catholic Church, 65 East 500 North, Orem. A Vigil service for family and friends will be held Wednesday evening at St. Francis Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Family and friends may call Wednesday night and Thursday morning one hour prior to each of the services.
