Winona B. Christensen A choice and elect lady, Winona B. Christensen, left this earthly existence, to join her eternal companion, on Saturday, June 11, 2005. Her 93 years were filled with love, kindness, and compassion. She was born April 10, 1912, in Payson, Utah, to Edward and Catherine Quigley Bills, the second of four children. While spending her early years in Payson, she met her future husband. Winona and Vernon L. Christensen were married on February 14, 1933, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Payson, before moving to Provo in 1944. Vernon and Winona built and shared a uniting, strong love and devotion for one another, their family, and their church. They were blessed with five children. Most of Winona's time was spent as a caring wife and mother. She also had many hobbies, talents and interests; she enjoyed oil painting, crocheting, needlework, as well as being a professional seamstress. As a faithful and devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many positions, including stake and ward chorister and Relief Society President. She served always with love and devotion in caring for the needs of those around her; she was non-judgmental and always spoke positively of others. She had many friends who respected and loved her in return. She also served in the community as a Provo City School District PTA president. Winona's husband and faithful companion passed away on April 17, 1992. For the last thirteen years, she has longed to be with Vernon. Once again they are together - never to be separated again. Winona was also preceded in death by her son, Phillip; daughter, Charlene Billings; and brother, Reed. She is survived by Nanette (Eugene) Lassen, Vernon Eugene (Connie), LeAnn (Gary) Brimley; son-in-law Todd Billings; twelve grandchildren, and eleven and a half great-grandchildren. We want to send a special "thank you" to the caring nurses and staff at East Lake Care Center, as well as the doctors and nurses at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and IHC Hospice for their help and kindness. We would also like to thank the many BYU/UVSC students who helped to brighten her days at the care center through their friendship and thoughtful acts. A funeral to honor Winona will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the Rivergrove 1st Ward Chapel, 780 North 700 West, Provo, Utah. Friends may show their respects at a viewing beginning at 9 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will be held at the Payson City Cemetery, following the services. Squid) was taken from us on June 9, 2005, at 12:07 a.m., to return to our Heavenly Father. He was born on April 20, 1983, to Toni and Rick Swinford, in Provo, and raised in Provo, Utah. They moved to Springville about four years ago. He attended school at Independence High School, and was loved by everyone who really knew him. Brian was able to dazzle you with his smile, bring you up from down, with his wit and humor, and touch your very soul with his friendship. Squid had two families while growing up - one, at home; and, the other, was his friends. They spent some very good times together, as well as some tough times. Those members from his second family know who you are; and, we thank you for being such good friends to our son. Squid was very athletic and his favorite teams were the Miami Dolphins, the Utah Jazz, and the Atlanta Braves. He was working at Backman Foundry and was a hard working employee. He was always ready to try new things and take on tough challenges. Those that knew him were truly blessed. Squid is survived by his loving parents, Toni and Rick; two brothers, Matthew and David; two sisters, Brooke and Amy; an uncle, Rex; nieces and nephews and the remaining members of his second family and their kids. Services for his memory will be held at the graveside in the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at 11 a.m. Friends and family should meet at the cemetery.
