After a Constant and courageous battle, David passed away last Thursday afternoon June 16th 2005. In the midst of this challenge, David was happy and showed a marvelous ability to look for the positive in every situation. Through his soft spoken example he taught those around him how to find good in bad circumstance, be happy, love unconditionally and live a life dedicated to service and to our Father in Heaven. He was determined to endure well to the end and he did so. He will live in our memories until the day we are reunited as a complete family. David is the fifth of eight children of Marv and Louise Ahlstrom. He grew up in Los Alamitos, California with his seven brothers and sisters, Sandra, Paul, Karen, Marv, Tami, Jayson and Alysia. He served an LDS mission to the Philippines and was married in the Los Angeles Temple to Tonya Lynn Beers. He worked in the high tech industry for Folio Corporation, Knowlix, Peregrine Systems and Altiris. He loves his five boys Andrew, Brandon, Josh, Nathan, Ian and his baby daughter Madison. David and our entire family have very much appreciated the kindness and service of the wonderful team at Huntsman Cancer Institute. We are also very grateful to David's neighbors and ward members, his co-workers at Altiris and his many friends who have extended many kind acts of service to David and his family over the last year. Tonya and the family have asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to a donation account set up at Zions Bank. A funeral and memorial service will be held Saturday June 25th, 12:00 noon at the Alpine 9th Ward chapel, 901 Alpine Village Way, Alpine, Utah. All friends and family are invited to a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday June 24th at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center St., Provo, Utah. Interment will be in the Alpine City Cemetery. Dudley, Mervin Ralph Mervin Ralph Dudley of Orem passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at the age of 77. Mervin was the first son of five children born to Myrvin Wade and Myrtle Esther Mortenson Dudley of Spanish Fork, UT on March 11, 1928. He was married to Flora Beck on August 4, 1948 in Spanish Fork, UT. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on November 7, 1959. Mervin attended schools in Spanish Fork and at age 16 enlisted in the U.S. Navy on March 12, 1944 and was honorably discharged on January 8, 1948 as a WW II veteran. Mervin was employed at Geneva Steel in Orem for 17 years. He was an employee of Hercules, Inc. in Magna, Utah and retired after completion of 25 years. Mervin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings and positions. He was bishop of the Orem 28th Ward, Sunday School President, Elder's Quorum President, member of the Stake High Council with the responsibility of the Family History Center. Mervin particularly enjoyed serving as a Timpanogos Temple Worker and served a microfilming mission for the LDS Church Family History with his wife in Toronto, Canada. Mervin served as a home teacher to the widows of his ward for years. He faithfully served others including his family, neighbors, friends and anyone in need. Mervin was a faithful, obedient son of God who endured the trials and pains of life with dignity and endured to the end. Survivors include: three daughters, one son; Karen (Reed) Bloxham of Layton, Sharen (Dean) Riding of Boise, Idaho, Connie (John) Schindler of Price, and Darrel Lynn (Diane) Dudley of Orem. Two sisters; Leah Rose Snelson of Springville and Kathleen Marie Porter of Payson; Eighteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Flora Beck Dudley, his parents Myrtle and Myrvin Dudley, sister- Jean Hutchings, brother- Glen Clifton Dudley, Brothers-in-law- Don Snelson and John Porter. A special thank you is expressed from the family to the Orem Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Alpine Hospice for their loving, compassionate care. Also, appreciation is extended to Dr. Gerald Stephanz and his staff from the Central Utah Clinic Nephrology and Horizon Home Health for their kindhearted, respectful treatment. Mervin, before passing was a member of the Orem Geneva Heights 3rd Ward. His family is so thankful and express gratitude for the members of the ward for their expressions of caring, compassionate service for their long time friend. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2005 at the Geneva Heights Ward Chapel at 590 North 900 West in Orem. Friends and family may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the ward chapel. Dean Henderson 1914-2005 Dean Henderson passed away June 21, 2005 surrounded by his family in his home. He was 91 and died of natural causes. He was born May 3, 1914 in Arimo, Idaho to Louis Edgar Williams Henderson and Anna Eugenia Benson. He attended Utah State Agricultural College from 1932 to 1936 where he met his sweetheart, Marjorie Burrup of Downey, Idaho. Dean played on the Utah State basketball team which was made famous by defeating all tournament basketball teams in the West, upending highly favored Kansas on their home court in Kansas City and were then invited to the Olympic tryouts in Madison Square Garden. Dean and Marj enjoy many memories originating from the Bluebird Restaurant in Logan during their courtship years. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 16, 1938. Dean was a Lieutenant (j.g.) in the Navy from 1944 to 1946, and served as a Communications Officer aboard the U.S.S. Bruhle in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Dean and Marj began their careers as educators by teaching in Alamo, Nevada¥a career which eventually spanned over a combined 75 years in Nevada, Idaho and Utah. Dean was the first principal of the newly consolidated Marsh Valley High School in Arimo, Idaho before retiring from the Department of Education at Brigham Young University in 1979. Dean enjoyed traveling to see his grandchildren and great grandchildren perform in any school or sporting activity. He particularly liked playing golf with his sons, grandchildren or good golfing buddies. He was a near par golfer and played regularly through age 89. Dean and Marj have always been active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dean having served as a bishop of the Downey Second Ward. He readily accepted any calling-including a mission to the Visitor's Center in Laia, Hawaii in 1980. His favorite calling is his current calling of Greeter in the Riverside Ward. One of his greatest joys was his weekly visits to the Provo Temple. Dean is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie Burrup Henderson and their four sons: Gary, (Karen Knudsen); Jan, (Kerry Miner); Kim, (Coralee Maas); and Tad (Tamara Kimokeo) Henderson. Dean and Marj have 24 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Dean is also survived by two sisters, Ann Atkinson of Provo, Utah; Joyce (Parr) Sainsbury of Salem, Oregon; and three brothers, Boyd (Ethel) Henderson of Pocatello, Idaho; Ralph (Lenore) Henderson of Bountiful, Utah; Sidney (DonaLe) Henderson of Orem, Utah. Dean was preceded in death by his father (Louis), mother (Jean), brother (Louis) sister (Helen) brother-in-law (Chick), sister-in-law (Lena), and great-grandchildren (William & Bonnie). A viewing will be held on Friday, June 24 from 7- 9 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E 800 N, Orem. Funeral Services will be held at the Riverside Ward chapel, 3500 N 180 E in Provo beginning at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to services. Jensen, Marie M. Marie M. Jensen Jim, Marie, Rondo & Dick, 1945, Naples, Utah Marie M Jensen passed away Saturday, June 18, 2005 at the Courtyard at Jamestown, Provo. Her decline started in 1998 when her husband of 57 years died. She met Jim Jensen when she was 17. He was working for shares in the Mercur mining camp and she was living with her sister. After a 6-week courtship on an Indian Motorcycle, she promised herself to him. He went to Alaska to homestead, and she followed, but WWII drove them out. Her commitment to him was absolute and they coalesced into single organism. Marie followed him to Harvard and then BYU and was the power behind the throne of "Dinosaur Jim". Jim's death shattered her psychological universe. She withdrew into herself, and entered a continuous decline. Marie is survived by her brothers Harold and Grant Merrell of Naples, Delroy Merrell of Hurricaine, and her sons James R and Dick A Jensen of Portland, OR. Viewing will be at 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday June 23, 2005 at the Berg Mortuary, 185 E. Center Street, Provo. At 1:00 p.m. on Friday 24th, a viewing will be held at the Edgemont Third Ward, 2950 N 350 E. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. with interment at the Orem City Cemetery. She will finally be at peace, resting again beside her "Big Jim". Celebrate her passing. She has longed daily to follow him since Dec. 18, 1998. Pellegrini, Iole "Sylvia" Iole "Sylvia" Pellegrini, age 78, died on Tuesday, June 14, 2005, in Springville, Utah, after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was born on February 14, 1927, in Rome, Italy. Sylvia came to the United States in 1946 as a war bride. She married Salvador Espinoza and lived in California until 1970 when she moved to Utah. Sylvia enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, crocheting and cooking for her family. She was fluent in Italian, Spanish, and English. She is survived by her four children: Linda Morrey of Spanish Fork, Utah, Patricia Carter and Claudia Espinoza of Fresno, California, and Tim Baker of Roy, Washington; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers and one sister, all of Rome, Italy. Graveside services will be held at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, on Monday, June 27, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. Flowers can be sent to Walker Mortuary in Spanish Fork for delivery to the cemetery. Published in the Daily Herald on 6/23/2005. Woods, Aaron Charles Aaron Charles Woods, age 22 of Mapleton, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2005. He was born March 3, 1983 in Logan, Utah and came to his adopted parents Loyd E. and Beverly Redd Woods on April 19, 1983. Aaron was a musician and part of the music group Valhalla. As a student at UVSC, he was working towards a degree in business. Aaron was a friend to everyone and was always willing to help anyone in need. He had a very good sense of humor and will be remembered for his laugh and his good nature. He is survived by his parents of Mapleton; brother, Tymon Loyd Woods of Mapleton; sister, Anna Mae Woods of Provo; nephew, Chandler Robert Woods; grandma, Mae Woods of Richland, Washington; many aunts, uncles, cousins and many many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville. There will be a viewing held at the mortuary on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
