He was born December 10, 1911 in Nephi, Utah to John Henry Boswell and Mary Elizabeth Garrett and was the seventh child of twelve, having seven sisters and four brothers. He married Lucy Salisbury in 1934 in the Manti Temple enjoying 33 years of marriage together. This marriage union was blessed with two boys, Kent and Jack. Lucy passed away in 1967. Joe then met Vera Bartholomew Stokes and they married in 1970 in the Manti Temple and enjoyed 35 years together. Joe received his early education in Nephi. He then moved to Springville where he attended Brigham Young University majoring in Industrial Arts and graduating in 1940. Joe was employed in the Nebo School District and taught in the Industrial Arts program in the Springville Junior and Senior High Schools. He retired after 33 years and was loved by all his students. Joe was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings and positions. He was Bishop, Scout Master, Sunday School President and above all a faithful home teacher to many. He served faithfully in the Provo Temple for 20 years and had a close relationship with his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a World War II Veteran serving honorably in the U.S. Army in Italy where he received an honorable discharge. His grandchildren loved to sit at his feet and hear his fascinating war stories. He loved his country and was proud to serve it. Joe enjoyed numerous hobbies, including: fishing, hunting, golfing, square dancing, reading, gardening and irrigating. He was a sports fan and loved to cheer for the BYU and the Jazz. He was a great listener and always gave sound advice. He was very tender-hearted and always had a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. He was proceeded in death by his first wife, Lucy, seven sisters, three brothers and his parents. He is survived by hie wife, Vera Bartholomew Boswell, Wallace Boswell (brother) Provo; children, Kent (Sandy) Boswell, Mapleton, Jack (Kate) Boswell, Mapleton, John David (Margaret) Stokes, San Francisco, Kathleen (David) Palfreyman, Boise, Richard (Ann) Stokes, Springville, Robert Stokes, Springville and 26 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2005 at the Third Ward Chapel at 55 N. Main in Springville. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S. in Springville, and at the church 1 hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi, Utah. Nyberg, Blaine Lee Blaine Lee Nyberg Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Blaine Lee Nyberg, 74, peacefully passed away Friday, June 24, 2005 at his home in Spanish Fork. He was born December 31, 1930 in Mountain Home, Utah to Ernest Don and Ruby Helene Hansen Nyberg. He married the love of his life, Sarah Jean Rowley, on March 31, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Blaine graduated from Altamont High School and Oregon State University with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. He enjoyed building homes, carpentry, woodworking, and working in his yard. He was a private pilot and loved to fly. He also liked to hunt, fish, and travel. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership positions. He recently served a mission with his wife in the Family History Mission in Salt Lake City. Blaine is survived by his wife, Sarah Jean of Spanish Fork; his children: Linda (Doug) Taylor of Longview, Washington, Peggy Lee Nyberg of Corvallis, Oregon, Ruth (Tom) Sutton of Pocatello, Idaho, Alyce (Kenneth) Armstrong of Spanish Fork, Michael Blaine (Kari) Nyberg of Spanish Fork; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Helene Usery of Ferndale, Washington, LaVon (Garth) VanTassel of LaVerkin, and Nellie (Ray) Hyatt of Fruitland. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ethan Joseph Nyberg; two brothers, Robert Don Nyberg and Peter Albert Nyberg; and a sister, Margie Boswell. Funeral services will be Monday June 27, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Fork Wolf Hollow 2nd Ward Chapel, 870 East Canyon Road. Friends may call on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Family Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, and on Monday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Ottesen, Jarl Done Jarl Done Ottesen Jarl Done Ottesen, 81, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at his family home in Salem, Utah. Jarl was born in the same home on April 11, 1924 to Lovina Done and Andrew H.C. Ottesen. He was a lifelong resident of Salem. He attended Utah State College for several years where he met his sweetheart, Shirley Stevenson. They were married August 11, 1950 in the Manti Temple. Jarl farmed the Ottesen land and worked at the Union Pacific Railroad as a clerk retiring with over 30 years of service. He had a unique personality and made new friends wherever he went. He loved to take a quick photo of anyone he could. He was a loyal friend and brother, a loving Dad, and most of all, he adored our Mother, taking care of her for many years. He was so proud of his name and his heritage. Jarl was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years; his parents; brothers: Eldon, Sherrel, and Ivan; and a grandson, Jacob. He is survived by his children: Jarleen (Douglas) Bowen, Syrie (Steven) Farley, Andrew J. (Rexine) Ottesen, and Liz (Dan) Smith. He was very proud of fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express heartfelt THANKS to Dr. LeRoy for many years of tender care. Thorn, Ivy Catherine Williams Ivy Catherine Williams Thorn Ivy Catherine Williams Thorn, 79 of Springville, Utah, passed away June 22, 2005 in Provo, Utah, following her husband Max by only two months. She was born July 22, 1925 in Strawberry, Duchesne Co., Utah to William Edward Williams and Ivy Gertrude Baum. She married the love of her life, Max Thorn, on May 15, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 59 wonderful years together, never far apart. Her heart was broken when he passed away in April 2005. Ivy grew up on the Strawberry River in Duchesne Co. She learned to work hard on a farm and gained the skills that made her a wonderful mother. She attended BYU and then worked at the Ogden Army Depot during WWII. After the war, she met and married Max and they built their home together in Springville where they lived for almost 60 years. They loved to camp, fish, go boating, and spend time at their cabin with their children and grandchildren. Ivy was a wonderful homemaker. She was an unbelievable cook and an accomplished seamstress. Her house was always immaculate. After her children were older, she shared her cooking skills working in the Grant School lunchroom and then at the Provo Mission Training Center and the Wilkenson Center. She delighted in being around all the new missionaries and the BYU Students. She served in many church calling in Primary, Young Women's, Relief Society, and Cub Scouts. She spent most of her life looking for ways to serve others. The light of her life was found in her grandchildren. She delighted in being a part of their lives and activities. She always kept in close touch with her numerous nieces and nephews also. She is survived by two sons and one daughter: David (Laurie) Thorn of Ivins; Tom (Barbara) Thorn of St. George; Larcy (Wes) Bloomfield of Delta; two sisters: Grace Pinoli of Philo, California and Wilma Morrison of Magna, UT; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, one brother and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Center Street LDS Chapel at 355 East Center St. in Springville. There will be a viewing held Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville and Monday at the church one hour prior to the services.
