His mom and dad, Lee and Linda Swenson, and his sister Kristin are so sad and miss him so much but are comforted by his memory and the knowledge that he is at peace. Also missing him are his Grandma Jorgensen and his aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends as well as his beloved dog, Kota. Mike grew up in Duchesne, Utah and moved to Orem when he was fourteen. He graduated from Orem High School and then Dixie College. Although he was most recently employed by myfamily.com, his favorite jobs were at Herritage School and Slate Canyon because he loved people. People loved him too and those that knew him know that inside his great big body beat a great big beautiful heart. Mike had gifts, he was gifted with infectious wit and could make anyone laugh in one line or less. His artwork is beautiful and a treasure to his parents. He was also a gifted athlete, amazing us with tricks on his bike. He skied like a madman and he pinned a lot of worthy opponents during his wrestling career. After high school he took up weightlifting, he treated his body like a piece of art, and others admired his strength and dedication. His greatest gifts, however, were not the ones that he had but the ones that he gave. He gave us smiles and hugs and happy memories. He gave us hope because he had hope and his belief helped us believe. Mike loved God and his childlike faith was an inspiration. He married Laura Hart in 2001 and was an admirably loyal husband. He loved her with a love that we cannot comprehend. Michael will be greeted in heaven by his Grandpa Jorgensen, who he loved and from whom he got his sense of humor. He was also preceded by his Grandma and Grandpa Swenson and his bad dog, Chance. A memorial service will be held at Thursday, March 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Evangelical Church of Orem. The church is located at 280 South 400 East (across from Orem High School). In Lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's name may be made to Slate Canyon c/o Christ Evangelical Church of Orem or the Humane Society of Utah. Published in the Daily Herald on 3/1/2005.
