Swenson, Michael Scott Michael Scott Swenson Born on 12/13/72, Michael Swenson left this world for eternal life 2/23/05. His mom and dad, Lee and Linda Swenson, and his sister Kristin are so sad and miss him so much but are comforted by his memory and the knowledge that he is at peace. Also missing him are his Grandma Jorgensen and his aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends as well as his beloved dog, Kota. Mike grew up in Duchesne, Utah and moved to Orem when he was fourteen. He graduated from Orem High School and then Dixie College. Although he was most recently employed by myfamily.com, his favorite jobs were at Herritage School and Slate Canyon because he loved people. People loved him too and those that knew him know that inside his great big body beat a great big beautiful heart. Mike had gifts, he was gifted with infectious wit and could make anyone laugh in one line or less. His artwork is beautiful and a treasure to his parents. He was also a gifted athlete, amazing us with tricks on his bike. He skied like a madman and he pinned a lot of worthy opponents during his wrestling career. After high school he took up weightlifting, he treated his body like a piece of art, and others admired his strength and dedication. His greatest gifts, however, were not the ones that he had but the ones that he gave. He gave us smiles and hugs and happy memories. He gave us hope because he had hope and his belief helped us believe. Mike loved God and his childlike faith was an inspiration. He married Laura Hart in 2001 and was an admirably loyal husband. He loved her with a love that we cannot comprehend. Michael will be greeted in heaven by his Grandpa Jorgensen, who he loved and from whom he got his sense of humor. He was also preceded by his Grandma and Grandpa Swenson and his bad dog, Chance. A memorial service will be held at Thursday, March 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Evangelical Church of Orem. The church is located at 280 South 400 East (across from Orem High School). In Lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's name may be made to Slate Canyon c/o Christ Evangelical Church of Orem or the Humane Society of Utah. Life was a great adventure for her.The people she met along the way were the choicest parts of living in her world. As her soul mate and who accompanied Lorraine through almost 44 years of wedded bliss, I watched her suffer the pains of mortality. Yet, because of her positive nature, even when she was hurting inside, few people ever knew how ill she was. Yet, I would do it all over again because she loved me and I loved her and there was never a question about the love she had for me nor for the many friends she made along her way. Once you were Lorraine's friend, it was forever. Lorraine was born two days after Pearl Harbor on December 9, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Edwin Deppe and Edythe May Dazley Cracroft. She had two brothers, Glen Edwin Cracroft (Joy) of Draper, Utah and Paul Leroy Cracroft (Loyda) of Bountiful, Utah. She also had two sisters, Donna Margaret Bethers (Howard) deceased and Mary Kathleen Hardman (Donald) of Parkersburg, W. Virginia. Lorraine married Theodore James Thaxton Jr. on June 21, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. She had already dealt with several physical ailments, but tossed them all aside as she bore seven children whom she also spread her capacity to love across their paths. They are Christopher James Thaxton (Lynda) of Phoenix; Dr. Robert Edwin Thaxton (Rebecca) of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; Julianne Kay Elder (Dr. Scott) of Tridell, Utah; Glen Evan Thaxton (Chele) of Orem; Melissa May Porter (Michael) of Mendon, Utah; Amy Lorraine Hales (Jason) of Albuquerque; and Susan Diane Stewart (Shawn) of Vista, California. There were 24 grandchildren to come who also knew that Grandma loved them unconditionally. Everywhere Lorraine went she endeared herself to those around her. She kept her friendships alive whether she met them in Texas, in Cache Valley, in Bountiful, in Salt Lake City, or in Orem, Utah. She allowed some fifteen young people over the years to live in her home while they attended Brigham Young University. Lorraine graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah. However, following her marriage she remained at home to raise her children in the love of her faith. She has resided more than twenty-five years in Orem. Lorraine worked for many years at Brigham Young University, first in the Tanner Bldg Student Advisement Center, and later in the graduation office in the administration building.
