Garlick, Maxine B. 1920~2005 NEPHI/ Maxine Bills Garlick , age 84, passed away March 1, 2005 in Nephi, Utah. She was born April 29, 1920 in Clearcreek, Utah to James Winston and Eliza Charlotte Jensen Bills. She married Ray E. Garlick October 16, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple in 1959. He passed away December 17, 2003. She was raised in Fountain Green, Utah and moved to Nephi in 1963. She was active in the LDS Church and served in many callings. She is survived by six children, Beulah Ferry, Provo, Luana (Jack) Burton, West Valley, Arlene Cleverly, Magna, Karen (Robert) Lyman, Nephi, Linda (Robert) Talbot Palmyra; Ellis (Debbie), Payson; 29 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; brother, Boyd Bills. Preceded in death by a son Ricky Lynn Garlick; a son-in-law, Norton Cleverly; a sister, Vera Jensen and brother, Alton Bills. Published in the Daily Herald on 3/5/2005. Hunsaker, Dr. Kenneth Johnson Dr. Kenneth Johnson Hunsaker, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, died Monday, February 28, 2005. He was born in Provo, Utah on March 31, 1966, to Orvil Glade and Judith Johnson Hunsaker. He graduated from Edgemont Elementary, Timpview High School, Timpview Seminary, and from Creighton Dental School. He married Carlene Christensen November 21, 1988, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Kenneth is esteemed as one of the most gentle and selfless of friends with whom we have been privileged to keep stride. His extreme kindness and generosity were shown to countless people daily in the dental practice he had in Provo for the last 10 years. He was an eagle scout and served an L.D.S. mission to Ecuador, among many other callings in the church. He is survived by his wife and his children Alyssa and Alec, of Mapleton; his parents of Provo; his siblings Kristen Christensen (Will) of Orem, Brent (Stacie) of Orem, Melanie Prescott (Bret) of Orem, Derek (Jennifer) of San Diego, Trevor (Robyn) of Orem, Devin (Leanna) of New Mexico, and Paul (Angela) of Provo; his parents-in-law, whom he dearly loved, and was also dearly loved by them, Dr. Gordon J. (Rella) Christensen. He was preceded in death by his older brother Kurtis. Kenneth, we love you, and you will be sorely missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing and loving you. Nelson, Joan LOGAN, UTAH: Joan Nelson, 76, died Thursday, March 3, 2005 in Orem, Utah. She was born September 27, 1928 in Tremonton, Utah to Edgar and Janet H. Nelson. Her early years were spent on the family farm in Howell, Utah. She graduated from Bear River High School, graduated with a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University, and completed a master's degree in social work at the University of Utah. An excellent executive secretary and administrative assistant, Joan worked at Utah Oil Company, then as an executive secretary to President Daryl Chase at Utah State University, and later became administrative secretary to Harvey Taylor, a vice president at BYU and later chancellor of LDS Church Schools. Her last employment was as a social worker in Granite School District. A member of the LDS Church, she served as a missionary in the Texas-Louisiana Mission, taught in all of the church auxiliaries, and was president of a BYU stake YWMIA. Joan was a thoughtful and caring daughter to her widowed mother, a supportive and generous sister, a loyal and delightful friend, and absolutely the world's greatest aunt. She is survived by her brothers, Carl J and Marlene Nelson of St. George; James E. Nelson, West Valley City, a sister, Joyce of Provo with whom she shared a close and loving relationship; her nephew, Michael K. Nelson (Laurie) and their four sons, Brady, Eric, Ryan and Jeffrey, her nieces Laurie (Don) Stewart, and Lynn (Kelly) Mecham and their daughters, Amanda and Melissa, all of Bountiful. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. The family would like to thank Dr. Philip Roberts of Sandy and his two nurses, Mary and Laurel for their professional expertise and their long-time compassionate and loving care; all the staff of Canyon Breeze Senior Living in Orem for extending the love and care worthy of true saints and angels; and all at Alpine Hospice Care who cared so lovingly for Joan during the last weeks of her life. She was born April 3, 1930 in Neola, Utah to Marguerite Crozier and Harold Alva Baxter. Lilith married Duane (Skinner) Peterson, Dec. 29, 1948 in Ely, Nevada. Later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She is survived by her loving family: husband, Duane; children, Lloyd (Kim) Peterson, Leslie (Carol) Peterson, Debra (Floyd) Strasburg, and Gregg (Susan) Peterson; brothers, David and H. Adair; sisters, Vivien, Faith, Kay, and Earldean; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bruce and Brent. Strong, Beverly Faith Jensen Beverly Faith Jensen Strong, 81, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on March 3, 2005. She was born January 31, 1924 in Moroni, Utah to Frank and Faith Jensen. She married Roland Simmons Strong on September 20, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She was born and raised in Moroni, Utah and lived there until 1946, where she worked at a parachute factory during WWII and helped her dad on the sheep ranch. After moving to Provo she worked at the State Bank and later for the State Tax Commission. Beverly was an example of faithful service to the Lord as a temple worker, primary teacher, name extractor, and in various Relief Society callings. Throughout her life Beverly's main concern was for her family. Her greatest joy was being with them. She loved horseback riding in Fairview, boating at Lake Powell, four-wheeling on her ATV (their 57th anniversary was celebrated with a new Rhino four-wheeler), and road trips all over Utah with her sweetheart, Roland. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, cooking, square dancing, flower gardening, looking for antiques, and enjoying everything with her family. She never wanted to miss out on anything they were involved with, and never wanted anyone else to be left out. Because of her great love and example, we were drawn together as a family. We live, work, and play together. Beverly will be deeply missed by her family; she will continue to be a part of everything we do and are. Beverly is survived by her husband, Roland, her five sons, Scott (Janet), John (Robin), David, Randy, and Kim (Kathi), all of Orem, 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also two brothers and two sisters, Elliott Jensen, Paul Jensen, Zulla Jensen, and Bonnie Houghton. She was preceded in death by 2 infant daughters, Colleen and Diane, her brother Joe, and a grandson, Matthew. She was born January 14, 1914, in Leeton, Utah, to James Alfred and Ruth Bowen Warthen. She married George Leslie Syme on June 13, 1930, in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She attended school in Leeton, Utah, grade 1 thru 3. Janice went the full year in grade 1, but grades 2 and 3 were interrupted by the Flu Epidemic and Small Pox Scare, that ended the 3rd grade. She was allowed into the 4th grade in Springville, Utah because she could read so well. She attended the 5th grade in Spanish Fork and started High School in Spanish Fork. She finished her High School education through the Adult Education Program at Provo High School, graduating in 1953. She lived in Provo, Utah from 1930 to 1991, then moved to St. George, Utah in 1991 and lived there until 2005. She enjoyed reading, gardening, dancing, cooking, and homemaking skills. Janice was preceded in death by her husband George Leslie Syme, and a daughter Shirlee Sheets. She is survived by her children, Georgia J. Syme, St. George, Ut, John L. Syme (Joan Williams) Provo, Ut, Elmo J. Syme (JoAnn Saxey) St. George, Ut, Eileen Horton (Roger) Santa Barbara, CA, Hugh W. Troskie, Kevin John Kevin John Troskie, age 18, returned to his heavenly home to serve a mission, February 19, 2005. Kevin was born June 11, 1986 to Kevin John Troskie and Sylvia Hanes. He was preceded in death by his grandfather John Christian Troskie and his grandmother Gene Hanes. Kevin is survived by his father Kevin J. Troskie, his aunt, Marilyn Dunne (who cared for him as a mother), and his siblings, Holly & Christian Troskie, and Benny, Jessica, Crystal & Brandy Hanes, as well as many others who love him beyond measure. Wyler, Clarence Case Albert Clarence "Case" Albert Wyler passed away March 2, 2005 in Payson, Utah at the age of 86. He was born October 13, 1918 in Payson, Utah to William Wyler and Fredericka Bauer. He met Elizabeth "Beth" Beckstrom at a dance at the Arrowhead Dance during their high school years and they were later married in the old First Ward Church in Payson on May 10, 1940. He served his country as a Hospital Apprentice First Class, U.S. Navy, from December 1943 to January 1946. He later worked at Geneva Steel for more than 38 years, retiring in 1983. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his family, fishing and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Walt, Bill, Bob and Burt Wyler, Lena Christensen, and Helen Eggert; and by one grandson, Vincent Wyler. He is survived by his loving wife Beth Wyler, Payson, Utah; his children Kaye (Dick) Whisman, Sierra Vista, AZ, Steven (Debbie) Wyler, Spanish Fork, UT, Boyd Wyler, Payson, UT, and Marsha Ishmael, Salt Lake City, UT; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 7, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Payson City Cemetery, 805 East 400 North, Payson, Ut. Gertrud was born on August 20, 1910, in Liegnitz, Germany. She had two children from her first marriage to Adolf Gerlach both of whom survive her. She was married a second time to Franz Zastrow, who pre-deceased her.
