Lee was born March 27, 1922 in Greenville, TX. He was the son of Essie Lee Carleton and Ruth Bonham. Lee is survived by his lovely wife Virginia, to whom he was sealed to in the Salt Lake Temple, two children, Bruce Bonham and Karen Gay, six step-children, 27 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 4 great- great grandchildren. He worked for the Alpine School District as a bus driver, at Sego Lily Elementary as head custodian and Deseret Industries. He and Virginia served an L.D.S. Mission from 1987 to 1988 at the temple in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and served on the open seas. He was a joy to all who knew him and will be missed by many. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a cash donation to the widow would be greatly appreciated. Funeral services will be held Wed. March 9, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Harbor 2nd Ward, 600 S. 100 W., American Fork. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Boyd, Clarence Bill Clarence "Bill" Boyd, 70 of Tucson, AZ passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2005. He is survived by his wife Lillian Boyd; daughter Kathy LaSure; sons Ted (Pam) Boyd of Seattle, WA and Robert (Deanna) Boyd of Orem, UT; grandchildren Jennier LaSure, Laura (Mike Bustin) LaSure, Jessica LaSure, Josh (Brenda) Boyd, and Justin Boyd; and great-grandchildren Benjamin, Joseph, Erica, Ryan Sunset and Michael. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Lisa LaSure. Bill served in the United States Navy from March 1952 until August 1957, at which time he transferred to the reserves. Services will be held at Enchanted Hills Baptist Church, 3020 S. Mission Rd, at 11:00 a.m. on March 10, 2005, with Pastor Mike Molina officiating. Johnson, Leah Pierce Leah Pierce Johnson passed away March 6, 2005 in American Fork, UT. She was born March 10, 1922, in Vermillion, Sevier County, UT to Wilford Pierce and Alice Alvey Pierce. Leah spent her early years in Sevier County, moving to Orem in 1942, where she has resided ever since. She married Grant J. Johnson on May 31, 1947 in Las Vegas, NV. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti L.D.S. Temple. While Leah lived in Orem she worked at J.C. Penny, Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, Utah County Recorders Office, Sears, Brown Brothers, and Cox's Foundry. Leah was very active in the community. She was a member of Business and Professional Women, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary where she held local, state, and national offices, Orem Boosters Club, Orem Heritage Commission who were responsible for erecting the Veterans Memorial Monument at the Orem City Cemetery. Leah received the Walter C. Orem award for outstanding community service in 2001. Leah was an avid bowler serving as an officer on many leagues and city associations. She is a member of the Orem Bowling Association' s Hall of Fame. She spent many hours at local schools and scout troops teaching respect for the flag and love for America. Leah was an active member of the Democratic Party, running for State Representative. She traveled extensively visiting most of the United States, Japan, China, Russia, Poland, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Leah is survived by her children; Larry (Marna), James (Chris), Ann, Karen Andrus, Don, and Ron (Lori) Johnson. 13 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren, sisters and brother, Leola Peterson, Glenda (Gene) Smith, Audrey Hadaway, DeVan (Annie) Pierce, sisters and brothers- in-law, Joan Pierce, Elva Pierce, Betty (Pratt) Canfield, Jean (Dale) Elkins, Earl (Beth) Johnson, Glen (Odessa) Case, Charles Mc Carter and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Grant, brothers Arlo, Vard, Ned, sisters Wilma and Gwendona, and a granddaughter Jennifer. Millet, Anna Agness Duffin Anna Agness Duffin Millet, 86, of Orem, Utah died peaceably in her sleep March 5, 2005 in Nephi, Utah. She was born February 1, 1919 in Orem, Utah to William Henry Sr. and Mary Estella Pace Duffin. She grew up in Orem and graduated from Lincoln High School. She married Joseph Burr Millet on October 20, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. She lived in California, Idaho, and then returned to Orem to raise her family where she worked as a real-estate broker. She had many callings in the LDS church. She was a Primary Worker, and she served in the Relief Society and on the Stake Primary Board. She loved to travel. She had been to the Holy Land, Mexico and many US states. She was a patient and caring person. She is survived by her brother, Sidney A. Duffin of Arlington, Texas; children Jeanette M. (Lynn) Powell of Nephi, Mary E. Millet and J. Brian Millet of Orem. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers William Henry Jr. & LeRoy Isaac, husband Joseph Burr Millet and her children Joyce Ann, a son, and Linda Joy. Mosher, Mike "MJ" Mike MJ Mosher returned home to his Heavenly Father, Thursday, March 3, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Audra; two children, Kyler and Callie; his parents, Ron and Gwen Mosher; and his brother, David (Jodi) Mosher. He and his wife have been married for nine years. He was a loving husband, son, father, and brother. He was an LDS Sunday School teacher, who loved all of God's children. He was an avid mountain biker and outdoorsman. He will be dearly missed. Nelson, Lilly Dean Lilly Dean Nelson, 95 of Payson, passed away March 6, 2005 at the home of her daughter. Born in Mancos, Colorado, August 17, 1909, to Henry Royal Dean and Deloras Bruun. She married Harold O. Nelson ("H"ö), November 7, 1931. To this union came 3 daughters. They lived all of their married life in Mesa Verde National Park and Mancos, Colorado. She worked as a postal clerk. After the death of her husband, Lilly moved to Payson, Utah in 1975, to be near her daughters. She served as DUP Captain of Camp Sego Lily for many years and participated in Cultus Club. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints, serving in all auxiliaries. She loved sewing, creative cooking, playing board games, singing, playing the piano, crossword puzzles, her roses, neighbors, home teacher, and family, especially grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Gary) DeLeeuw, of Greenwich, Utah and Louana (Cary) Bailey of Payson, Utah. 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, daughter, Jerry Lynn and brothers, Adrian, Lynn, Bobby Roy and sisters, Coralie Rider Emma Guillet, Vivian Bone and Kate Hanner. Nielsen, Bertha Olsen Bertha Olsen Nielsen If you have lived in southwest Provo in the past 91 years, Bertha probably knew you and your parents, who you married and where you lived. She also cared about you. This corner of Provo was Bertha's world and she loved it. She left this world March 6, 2005 to join her husband, Joy Woodruff Nielsen. She was born February 6, 1914, into the Provo Second Ward in the home of her parents, Ole E. and Sarah Ellen "Nellie" Jones Olsen. Although the Provo Second Ward boundaries were divided and re-divided over the years, she spent her entire life in the Second Ward. Her brothers and sisters are: LeRoy J. and Hildred Olsen, Marion and Leona Olsen, Horace Olsen, Jack and Mabel Westphal, Bert and Elda Olsen, Leon and Ardith Nielsen, Ralph and Phyllis Olsen. Ardith, Leon, Bert and Phyllis are living. A special thank-you goes to Ardith for the kindness and care given to her sister over the years. She married Joy Woodruff Nielsen in the Salt Lake Temple. They leave a posterity of five children, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Their children are: Lewis A. "Bud" (deceased) and Hildred Anderson of Orem, DeAnn Nielsen of Cedar Hills, Brent and Pam Nielsen of Sandy, Bert and Charla Nielsen of Gridley, California, and Greg and Linda Nielsen of Lafayette, Louisiana. Bertha loved and lived the gospel of Jesus Christ. She served in many church callings including Jr. Sunday School Teacher; Teacher, Counselor and President in the YWMIA; Counselor and Secretary for many years in the Relief Society. She also served as a Temple Worker in the Provo Temple. She was proud of her pioneer heritage. Her grandfather, Albert Jones, came to Utah in the Martin-Tyler handcart company. She honored his memory as she served as an Officer in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Camp #3. Her patriotism and desire to serve was expressed as she served as a Judge of Election for many years and volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Utah Valley Hospital. While devoting most of her time to her family, she also found time to belong to the Sewaco Card Club that was formed in the early 1930s and continues to this day. She also enjoyed friends in other clubs and in the Good Sam Trailer Club. She was a great supporter of BYU sports and had season football and basketball tickets for many years. Her family wishes to extend their gratitude to her daughter, DeAnn, who saw to her every need for many years and kept her life full, fun and interesting. Pugh, Kelly Kelly Pugh, our father and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 3, 2005 of natural causes. He will be remembered for his generous nature and kind heart as he often supported his children and grandchildren on missions and other endeavors. Kelly was born on April 15, 1921 in Kanab, Utah. Kelly and his twin brother Robert were the welcome 10th and 11th children of the 12 children of Edward Kelly Pugh and Annie Christina Englestead-all of which preceded him in death. They rejoice to have their last boy home! Kelly served in the United States Army during World War II, returned with honor, and graduated from BYU with a degree in sociology. Kelly taught at Bolsa Grande High School in California for many years. He will be remembered as the driver's education teacher by his students and by their children and grandchildren. Kelly also worked for Anaheim Park and Recreation Department for many years. The people at the parks became his friends. It can truly be said of Kelly, "He never met a stranger". Kelly married Lucy May Viklund on January 6, 1949. They are the parents of five children: Craig, Maridee, Brent, Walt, and Jeff. They are the grandparents of 11 grandchildren: Walter Jr., Bradley, Michelle, and Cody Kelly; Jeffrey Taylor; Stephanie, Amy, Garrett, Karyn, Spencer, and Luke Beeston. Rasm, Evelyn Humphrey Peterson Evelyn Humphrey Peterson Rasmussen The early evening of February 27th brought to a close one branch of the Humphry line with the passing of Evelyn Rasmussen in Potomac, Maryland. She was 95 years young. Her younger brother, Hugh, preceded her in death just a few weeks before. Evelyn was born December 24th in South Salt Lake to Suzie and Curtis Humphrey. She had two brothers: Max and Hugh. Her accomplishments include six temple sealings, four missionaries, and five university graduates from her seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Evelyn married Vern L. Peterson at a very young age. From this union came their two precious boys, Robert and Bruce. When news was brought to her of Vern's death in the Park City mine she mustered her strength and lovingly cared for these boys right through high school. Bruce graduated from the University of Utah and went on to become a Marine. Bob continued his schooling and received his Ph.D. from the University of Utah. As time passed by she met and married James P. Rasmussen. From this union came a dear little girl they named JaLynn. Evelyn was an excellent cook and in those days money was very scarce. However, she always made it very special when her family came to visit her. No praise can be greater than to acknowledge she was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother. Slater, Kevin John Kevin John Slater Our loving son, brother, father, and grandfather, Kevin John Slater, age 50, passed away March 5, 2005 doing what he loved best, fishing with his father and son. He was born Jan. 20, 1955 in American Fork, Utah to Roy John (RJ) and Lorena Abbott Slater. Kevin was a truck driver for Geneva Rock. He had worked for KKAT and loved to be on the radio. He loved hunting and fishing. He adored his grandchildren. Survived by 2 sons, Steven John Slater, Salt Lake City; Travis Robert Slater, West Valley City; 1 daughter, Sharlene Ann Slater, Draper; 3 grandchildren, Devin, David, and Hailey; his parents of Mona; 1 brother, Kirk (Nicki) Slater, Lehi; 3 sisters, Kathleen (Terry) Lange, American Fork; Ann Marie Mair, Robertson, WY; Alison (Jay) Sisson, Lehi. Thoresen, William Adolph William (Bill) Adolph Thoresen, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, 82, left this life on March 7, 2005. He was born October 6, 1922, to Norwegian immigrants, Adolph Marthinius and Therese Guenia Andersen Thoresen, in Providence, Rhode Island. He spent his formative years in Rhode Island where he graduated from Central High School in 1940. He participated in football and ice hockey during those years. World War II saw Bill in the U.S. Army serving both in Europe and stateside from 1943 to 1945. It was during his stateside service, at the Ogden Supply Depot, that he met Pearl Mae Graham and married her in 1944. She was his wife of 48 years. Following the war, Bill attended Brigham Young University, graduating in Business Management in 1949. He and Pearl settled in Provo, Utah and raised their three children, Kathlene, Stephen and Patricia. Bill spent his career working for Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company, Springville, Utah, and Seattle, Washington in various positions in Operations, Sales and Purchasing. He retired from PSCIPCO after 42 years of service in 1989. He was a member of many professional organizations, and served as President of the Provo City Chamber of Commerce. Bill loved his wife Pearl, who passed away in 1992 at the age of 65. He never remarried. Bill was a family man. No father, grandfather or great-grandfather was ever prouder of or loved his family more than Bill did. Likewise, no father, grandfather or great-grandfather was ever more loved by his children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Bill was an avid golfer until ill-health precluded him from continuing playing many years ago. He loved spectator sports as well, especially professional football and golf. He regularly followed all major football and golf competitions through the conclusion of his life. Bill was a man of integrity and was always the perfect gentleman. Even in his ailing years, those who met him could see his sweet spirit and loved him. His undying positive attitude and concern for others, through decades with his infirm and aging body, are an example to all of us. The family's hearts go out to the Staff of Orem Nursing and Rehabilitation Center who loved and so tenderly cared for him on many occasions during his latter years, including helping us so lovingly through his death. Bill is survived by his sister Elsie Thoresen of Providence, Rhode Island; his children, Kathlene Christensen of Fruit Heights, Utah; Stephen Thorsesen (MaryAnn) of Orem, Utah; and Patricia Skousen (Phil) of Orem, Utah. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, and by his parents. He was born February 22, 1916 in Monticello, Utah to John Quincy and Etta May Huffman Vance. He married Susan Adeline Gladden on January 23, 1942 in the Mesa Temple. He is survived by his three sons: George (Mary) Vance Jr., American Fork; Oran (Gwen) Vance, American Fork; and John (Marian) Vance, Bluffdale; 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ines Marlow and Edith Johnson. He was preceded in death in 2002 by his loving wife Susan. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Timpanogos Sixth Ward Chapel, 425 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove. He died March 6, 2005 at the age of 94. Grant was an adored husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Grant fell in love with Blanche Hanson at the age of 18 and this love continued to deepen over the next 67 years in this life and for all eternity in their present lives. Grant was the consummate husband, father, friend and businessman. His life flourished through his untiring zest and joy of living. People of all ages and walks of life were drawn to him. Friends and family were enlivened by his expansive spirit. These attributes were reflected until the day he died. The loving staff at Courtyard at Jamestown expressed that Grant was always kind, gracious and constantly appreciative of their effort and care. Grant graduated from the University of Utah and went on to become a major presence in the coal industry. He was involved with this work for 66 years until age 93. Grant and Blanche lived 29 years in Boise, Idaho where they raised their daughters Darl and Kristen. They enjoyed a life abundant with the joy of wonderful friends, myriad hunting, fishing and social activities. Grant's love of the outdoors and the friendships born from these activities brought him lasting happiness. Their return to Salt Lake City brought them back to family and new friends who became deeply treasured. Grant's daughters Darl and Kristen, sons in law Charles and Curtis, grandchildren Tory, Cameron, and Clayton and brand new great grandson and namesake, Grant, brought him immeasurable pleasure and happiness. A brief graveside service will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive Thursday March 10, 2005 at 12:30. All Grant's friends, family and colleagues are invited to a grand celebration of his life at Cottonwood Market Street Grill, 2985 East 6580 South, from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M.
