She had many wonderful stories of traveling from Illinois to Utah in a covered wagon with her family. She liked going on picnics, making quilts, crocheting, embroidering on kitchen towels, but most of all, she liked "holding babies". She lived in Helper over 40 years, then moved to Provo. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent many years serving in the temple. Surviving family members include Bonnie (Leo) Paur, West Valley, Barbara (Ruben) Maldonato, Salt Lake, Nick (Joyce) Nelson, Elk Ridge, Don (Elaine) Nelson, Provo, Madeline (Charles) Bonomo, Salt Lake, Marilyn (Boyd) Bell, Price, Arlene (Ken) Roberson, St. George, Sheri (Paul) Reay, Steve (Barbara) Briest, St. George. She was a 6 generation grandmother with 212 posterity. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2005, at 12 noon, in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem. Carlisle, Elmo John Elmo John Carlisle Colorado City, Arizona - Announcing the graduation of a noble father, brother, husband, uncle, and friend, Elmo John Carlisle, who passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005, at his home in Colorado City, Arizona. He was born November 15, 1931, a son of Charles Luther and Margaret Gilmour Burt Carlisle. Elmo is eighth in a family of ten children, being the second born in a set of twins with Ivan James Carlisle. He was married April 19, 1957, to Nancy Lou Warnick. They were sealed for time and all eternity on May 20, 1972. Surviving family include his siblings, Ivan, Lois Carlisle Moore, David Burt Carlisle, Ila Carlisle R. Peterson, Grant Carlisle, Helen Carlisle Black, and Margaret Carlisle Wilson. He is also survived by Nancy, Naomi, and 16 children (3 daughters and 13sons); 43 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Finch; brother, Gerald Leon Carlisle; and two sons, Daniel Shadrach and Brad Newell. "We love you, Father." Born on December 1, 1940 in Honolulu, Hawaii the son of Elwood and Arva (Boothe) Christensen. He married Janet Dudley in 1966 in Cardston Alberta Canada in the L.D.S. Temple. They later divorced. He later married Eileen Skinner on Sept. 22, 2000. Their marriage was solemnized in the Timpanogos Temple in Oct. of 2004. He was a member of the L.D.S. Church. He served a mission in Japan. He was a 1959 graduate of Punahou High in Hawaii. He had a masters degree in Accounting. Avid B.Y.U. sports fan. He has practiced in the real estate industry in Hawaii, Utah and Texas since 1967. Elder, Jamie Jamie Elder CEDAR VALLEY - Jamie Lewis Elder, age 25 of Cedar Valley, Utah, died at his home March 29, 2005 after a 3 year battle with cancer. He was born December 18, 1979 in Payson, Utah, son of Masel Leroy Elder and Charlene Trotter. Jamie lived in Springville and Cedar Valley, and graduated from Lehi High School. He was an Elder in the LDS Church and worked as a safety inspector for McLaughlin Swine and Mink Farms. Jamie really enjoyed race cars and sports and he loved music. He especially loved life, people and his family. Iker, Jackie Lynn Hansen Jackie Lynn Hansen Iker A light has left our lives that can never be replaced. A wife, mother and precious grandmother has gone where we cannot follow. Jackie Lynn Hansen Iker was released from her long battle with illness early Wednesday morning. She was an amazing woman - such a source of strength and love to her family. Her optimism and beautiful spirit brought such happiness to us. Her smile touched everyone she knew - it made our lives seem so much easier to bear in comparison to hers. Her selflessness and devotion to her family will be felt long into eternity. She loved her husband and children dearly and her grandchildren were such jewels to her. Kodi, a granddaughter once said she was "just like sunshine". We are so thankful for the time we were given and the precious blessing she was. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard and children Jake, Jennifer (husband Sean), Amanda (husband Aaron John), Richard James (Camie), John, and Michael. She will be remembered and cherished always by her grandchildren Kodi, Caleb, Carter and Kayzlin. Kay, Maynard Lloyd Maynard Lloyd Kay Maynard Lloyd Kay, age 76 of Payson, passed away after a long illness on March 28, 2005. He was born on March 21, 1929, in Mona, Utah, to Walter Lloyd and Gladys Houghton Kay. He Married Jerlie N. Heaps, in Elko, Nevada on Decemcber 30, 1950. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Maynard worked for the railroad for many years and the mining industries around Eureka and Price, Utah. He spent his final years working at Trojan Powder Plant. Maynard had a love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. His true gift was with the Guitar and singing which he blessed our lives with his music. He is survived by: his wife, Jerlie; sons, Kevin (Sabrina) Kay and Karl Dee Kay; a sister Charlene Gilson; and eight grandchildren. Also two nephews that lived with them, Dallas Lynn Heaps, Montana; David Reed Heaps, Bountiful; and a special adopted in spirit daughter, Beth Woolard, of Georgia. Kelley, Linda Young Linda Young Kelley Linda Young Kelley, 53, of Pleasant Grove returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father on March 28, 2005 due to complications from colon cancer. She was a beautiful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. Born December 10, 1951 in Provo, Utah to Jack L. and Dora F. Young. She was the second of five children. Linda was raised in American Fork and graduated from American Fork High School in 1970 where she was a member of the Pep Club, Homecoming Royalty, and was remembered for her beautiful long dark hair. She met the love of her life James D. Kelley and was married on April 3, 1970 in American Fork. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Mom lived for her family, she was the one who held the family together and was a positive influence on everyone's life. Linda was proud of each of her five children and all their accomplishments, but was most proud of her twelve grandchildren whom she was able to meet in this life. There wasn't a day gone by that she wouldn't do anything for her family. Linda was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings. Her favorite calling was Primary Chorister because she loved children and music. She was a media specialist in Alpine School District for over 25 years and worked at Central Elementary, Cedar Ridge Elementary and was working at Mt. Mahogany Elementary until shortly after her diagnosis. During her summers off from school, Linda worked as the admissions manager at the Pleasant Grove Swimming Pool. Linda is survived by her loving husband, Jim, who stood by her side daily until her passing; two sons and three daughters: Clint (Tawna) Kelley, Heber City; Cole (Sharolyn) Kelley, Orem; Tammy (Patrick) Weight; Misti (Brian) Ridge; Savannah (Brian) Dalton all of Pleasant Grove; parents: Jack L. and Dora Young, American Fork; mother-in-law, Margaret (Ben) Miller, Pleasant Grove; two sisters and two brothers: Bonnie (Vaughn) Lewis, Jack (Valerie) Young, Jimmy Young, and Sandra (Greg) Draper; her prized grandchildren: Caden, Kallin, and Sicily Kelley; Kapri, Abbi, Zeke, and Sadi Kelley; Madison, Mallory, and Mya Weight; Anthony and Oakley Ridge. She will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law and lots of friends she considered her family. Ted lived most of his life in Lakewood, California before retiring to Provo. Ted is survived by his wife, Helen Maughan Malquist, 3 sons and their families, Paul, Blaine and Malyn. Preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Clark Malquist. Mayer, Jerry Jerry Mayer Milford: Jerry Mayer, 67, passed away on March 28, 2005 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center after living courageously with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia for two and a half years. Jerry was born on April 16, 1937 in Harvey, North Dakota to George & Lillian Jesse Mayer. He married Janice Terry on September 17, 1966 and is the father of Joel Scott (Rebecca) Mayer, Sierra Vista, AZ., Jill (Jeff) Stauffer, Monmouth, OR., & Jerilyn Harris, Plano, TX. He is known as Partner, Grandpa & Papa by his six grandchildren, Devon Mayer, Rachelle, Tina & Natalie Stauffer, and Ethan & Logan Harris. He is the brother of Don (Judy) Mayer, Sandy, George Mayer of Milford, Karen (Gary) Leigh, Cedar City, Marilyn Ransom, Woods Cross, Tom (Kim) Mayer, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA & Doug (Lisa) Mayer, Boise, ID. He is the step-brother of Jim (Joyce) Cook, Clarkdale, AZ., and Loni (Dale) Shadle, Snowflake, AZ. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and step-father H.C. Cook. Jerry loved his community and the Milford Valley. He was a living example of service and hard work, giving his time and talents to the Milford Valley Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, Twin M Soil Conservation, Milford Fire Service District, Milford Valley Pumpers Association & Utah Farm Bureau. Jerry made friends with everyone he met and greeted each day with a smile and a song. Jerry delighted in his green alfalfa fields and the smell of fresh cut hay. Just walking in his fields brought him closer to his Savior. A life long member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, he had a strong commitment to God, and embodied the commandment "Love one another, as I have loved you." Jerry's favorite things were laughing with family and friends, visiting at the coffee shop, driving truck, reading the classifieds, and collecting hats. Beside his farm, his favorite place was Disneyland, where he loved skipping down Main Street USA with his children and grandchildren. Jerry considered his greatest achievement to be his family, his beloved wife, children & grandchildren. Palfreyman, Elva Fern Elva Fern Ferguson Palfreyman Scott VanWagenen Elva Fern Ferguson Palfreyman Scott VanWagenen passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 28, 2005, in Washington, Utah. She was born August 1, 1915 in Provo, Utah, to Earl and Fern VanWagenen Ferguson. She married Dennis Blake Palfreyman on September 15, 1933, in Provo, Utah. Blake died in a tragic automobile accident on December 21, 1935. She married Mark J. Scott on September 16, 1937, in Provo, Utah, and enjoyed forty years of life with him until he died on March 14, 1978. She married Everett VanWagenen on February 14, 1984 in Provo, Utah. Everett was deceased on March 31, 2002. Elva grew up in Provo and graduated from Provo High School in 1933. She later attended Brigham Young University. She moved to Lakeview, Utah in 1937 and lived there for over 60 years. She was a resident of Prestige Assisted Living in Provo from 1999 to 2002. The past three years Elva has been in assisted living care in St.George/Washington, Utah. Elva enjoyed spending time with her family and one of her greatest joys was travel. She was an excellent homemaker and loved hosting her family in her home for Holidays and special occasions. Elva volunteered many hours of community service as a Pink Lady at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Lakeview Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by one daughter and two sons: Max (Irene) Palfreyman of Santa Clara, Utah; Sandra (Tom) Carbotti of Columbia, Maryland; and Richard (Georgia) Scott of Portland, Oregon; one brother: Boyd (Elaine) Ferguson of Fresno, California: 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. She married Calvin Kent Shepherd June 16, 1945 in Scipio, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They have been married for 60 years. Marva enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening and cooking. She was active in the LDS church and thoroughly loved being a visiting teacher. She gave countless hours of services to others. Her greatest treasures were her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren She is survived by her husband, C. Kent Shepherd of Levan; children, Shauna (Paul) Harmon of Nephi; Janet (David) Carter of Levan; David (Linda) Shepherd of Levan; Louise (Bart) Stephenson of Alcova, Wyoming; 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Miriam Tuttle, Gladys Stone, Esther Memmott and Beth Warner. A brilliant student, Pansy was valedictorian of Lehi High School class of 1935. Pansywonmany typingcontests and achieved a perfect paper at 100 wpm. She was a secretary for Farm Administration, Columbia Pictures, andCivil Service before her children were born. A devoted mother and grandmother, Pansy encouraged her family to be well educated and to pursue their dreams. She is survived by daughters Mary Wade and May Koski(Paul), sister Donna, seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her sweetness will be remembered. No services.
