He enjoyed cars, hunting, fishing and hiking. Beardall, Dawn Duffin Dawn Duffin Beardall Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Dawn Duffin Beardall, 89, passed away May 1, 2005. Dawn was born March 3, 1916, in Logan, Utah, to Clarence Duffin and Jennie Barlow Duffin. She married John Woodville Beardall on June 19, 1935, in the Salt Lake Temple. He passed away June 8, 1997. Dawn spent a lifetime serving others. She was a homemaker, a librarian at the Scera Park Elementary School in Orem for 16 years, and taught piano lessons for over 25 years. She was active in the LDS Church; even up to the end, doing extraction work in her home and serving as a visiting teacher supervisor. She taught in Primary, Mutual and Relief Society and also served as Primary and Relief Society President. She was also a ward librarian for 8 years. She belonged to the Alethian Club in Salt Lake City and Paideia Sorosis in the Provo-Orem area.. Her hobbies were genealogy, reading, and making quilts and afghans. She is survived by her children, W. Lee Beardall, Carol (Jerry) Billings, Bonnie Wright, and William C. (Sheryl) Beardall, 18 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, with one more expected soon. She is also survived by brothers & sisters, Allese (Paul) Vestigo, C. Harlow (Marjorie) Duffin, B. Keith Duffin, G. Richard (Betty) Duffin, and Sharol (Grant) Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband Woodie, son David, parents, Clarence & Jennie Duffin, brother, Robert B. Duffin, two grandsons, Jeffrey Brey and Mark Brey, one great-granddaughter, Vanessa Wright and sister-in-law, Ruth Duffin. Canto, Norma Miller Norma Miller Canto, age 84 of Mapleton, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2005. She was born in Oregon on May 12, 1920 to Joe and Vera Hatch Miller. She married Jack Canto on August 5, 1937. She attended her early schooling in Oregon and later graduated from Spanish Fork High. She was a member of the LDS Church. She was the first Women's President of the Mapleton J.C.'s. She was very active and was also past President of the Lady Elks. She enjoyed Golf and Bridge. Norma is survived by one son and one daughter: Ron Canto of Mapleton, and Kathy Zobell of Orem; four grandchildren: Toy Canto of Santa Ynez, CA, Christina Rawlings of North Carolina, Christopher Canto of Ogden, and Malisa Canto of Washington; and four great-grandchildren. Clements, Fern K. Fern K. Clements Our loving mother, Fern K. Clements, passed away Sunday May 1, 2005 due to injures resulting from an auto accident. Fern was born July 6, 1920 in Orem, Utah the daughter of Charles and Nora Keeler. She married her sweetheart Malan H. Clements on June 11, 1938. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Fern lived in American Fork for 68 years with her husband and family. She served in many callings in the LDS Church. She worked for 15 years at the Utah State Developmental Center. She was cherished and beloved by all with whom she came in contact. Survived by her children, Judy (Harold) Turner; Sherri (LeRoy) Schear; Michael (Cherie) Clements and Connie Harwood; 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; a sister Nina Warburton and a brother Grant Keeler. Proceeded in death by her husband Malan, 2 sons, Wallace and Fredrick Clements, and a granddaughter, Geri Richins. Henstrom, Martha Carolyn Adams Martha Carolyn Adams Henstrom, 67, passed away peacefully after a struggle with cancer on May 2, 2005, at her home in Provo, UT. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend she will be sorely missed by those left behind. Born on Dec. 22, 1937, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Paul Monroe and Louise Cruikshank Adams. She began a life that would bless everyone she knew. She spent her early years in Delta, UT. returning to Montpelier when she was twelve. Martha graduated from Montpelier High School, 1955, and then from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in 1959 & M.A. in 1962, in Drama/Speech and a minor in English. She was active in plays, several BYU movies, and voice recordings for Radio, TV, and books. Martha won the Best Actress award for two years at BYU. She married Richard Henry Henstrom on June 17th, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she blessed children, young women, women and others with her leadership assignments. Martha and her husband recently served a full time mission at the Provo MTC. She served diligently in many other callings. Martha was a former President of BYU Women on two occasions and PTA president a number of times in local schools. She was a renaissance woman gifted in acting, singing, sewing, quilting, crafts, teaching and many other areas. Martha's music gifts were a blessing to both children and adults. Her quick wit always brought a smile. She served others constantly in a home that was open to all. Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Richard H. Johansen, Lydia Louise Otten Lydia Louise Otten Johansen, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away in Orem, Utah on May 3, 2005, just 18 days before her 93rd birthday. She was born on May 21, 1912 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Hulda and John Otten. She lived in Mt. Pleasant and Sterling during her youth. On December 12, 1935 she married Ray A. Johansen in the Salt Lake Temple and they had three children. Lydia was widowed at 47 years of age. Her husband (a coal miner) died in 1959 while they were living in Kenilworth, Utah leaving her alone to lead and support her three teenage children. She and the children moved to Provo, Utah in 1960 where she bought a home and found employment as a cook at the Utah Valley Hospital. She retired from the hospital when she was 65 years old. Although almost deaf and blind (macular degeneration) and severely crippled with arthritis, she was fiercely independent while living alone after her children were married. She loved gardening and her yard was always the showplace in the neighborhood. About 4 years ago, she fell and cracked her hip. After a 3-month stay at the hospital and a nursing home, she determinedly wanted to go back to living alone in her home but that proved to be impossible after she fell two more times, each time breaking a leg. Her final years were spent living in assisted living facilities in Orem. She is survived by her three children (A. R. "Joe" Johansen of Woods Cross, Utah; Keith Johansen of Westford, Massachusetts: and Jeannine Blackburn of Cedar City, Utah) as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her many nieces and friends showered her with love, cards, phone calls, and gifts for every occasion. A casket closing ceremony and graveside services will be held at the Mt. Erma was born January 9, 1914, in Smoot, Wyoming, to Henry W. and Betsy Sarah Crook Erickson. She married George Budd Pead in the Logan LDS Temple, December 17, 1936. She was a homemaker raising 9 children, 4 sons and 5 daughters. Erma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints and served in all the organizations of the LDS church. Shepherd, Moses Hyrum Moses Hyrum Shepherd, Sr., age 75 of Springville, passed away at Utah Valley Hospital on Monday, May 2, 2005. He was born on March 20, 1930 to Alice Marie Smith and Moses Leon Shepherd in Springville. Moses served in the South Pacific in the Army Air Corp in WWII. He worked for Geneva Steel for 21 years and retired. He then worked for Mountainland Head Start for 19 years retiring last year. He married Rayda Zuefelt Shepherd on August 2, 1952 who preceded him in death on January 26, 1997. He later married Joyce Fausett Long Shepherd and had the blessings of sharing nine loving years together. He is survived by his wife Joyce, and children: Carol and Bruce Lundell of Provo, Janet Shepherd of Provo, Colleen Brown of Orem, Moses Hyrum Shepherd, Jr. of Springville, Cora and Marlon Bertrand of Alaska, and Joan and Shane Nuttall of American Fork. He is also survived by: 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four stepchildren; brothers: Melvin and Angela Shepherd of Spanish Fork, Roy and Dorothy Shepherd of Provo; and his sister, Margie Vincent of Provo. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Fran Rieske; one sister; and both his parents. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, camping. He loved animals and to see them in their natural habitat. He liked to walk along the ocean and beaches to collect various seashells. He was able to enjoy a trip of a lifetime to Alaska's wilderness where he enjoyed flying over the glaciers and the frontiers. He will be missed dearly and forever in our memories until we meet again! Sorenson, Von Von Sorenson CEDAR FORT Von Wilson Sorenson, age 71 of Cedar Fort, Utah, died May 2, 2005 at the Utah Valley Hospital of natural causes. He was born June 4, 1933 in Lehi, Utah, son of Ellis (Bud) and Wilma Ann Whitman Sorenson. Married Karleen Flygare Sept. 25, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Jan. 23, 1998. Von served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Public Works department for Lehi City Corp. and later as a supervisor over the petroleum division at Tooele Army Depot. He raised his family in Lehi and moved to Cedar Fort in 1978. He loved horses, rodeos, and dearly loved his grandchildren. Survived by four sons, Ken Sorenson, Stansbury; Casey Sorenson, Tooele; Clay (Julie) Sorenson, Cedar Fort; Shawn (Jessica) Sorenson, Ibapah, UT; 13 grandchildren; sister, Kathryn (Jerry) Cook, Lehi. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Nile, sister Geralee Glathar, and granddaughter Shanalee. Staheli, Bertram Douglass BURLEY - Bert Douglass Staheli, 101 year old Burley, Idaho resident, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at the home of his son from causes incident to age. He was born in Benjamin, Utah, on December 6, 1903, the son of George and Agnes Douglass Staheli. He married Vera Pearl Elmer on June 3, 1925, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they had four children. She preceded him in death. He later married Ellen Hansen Russon of Mar Vista, CA. She preceded him in death also. Later, he married Glenda Tyler Hansen of Montebello, CA who preceded him in death as well. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bert was the longest continuous temple worker at the Los Angeles Temple, serving there from the time of its opening in 1956 until 2000. Survivors include three children, Clarence (Margie Allen) Staheli of Burley, Colleen (Eddie) Ahlin of Santaquin, UT, and Douglas (Marjorie Dethloff) Staheli of Beaver, UT; five siblings, Wanda Huff, Dean Staheli, and Lee Staheli, all of Payson, UT, Julia Roland of Springville, UT, Barbara Hansen of Emmett, ID; 21 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; 23 great great grandchildren; and four great great great grandchildren. In addition to his spouses, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Geraldine Lundell and two siblings, Lucille Simpson of Magna, UT, and Gerald Staheli of Spanish Fork, UT. Talbot May 6, 1927 ~ April 30, 2005 Geraldine Hone Talbot passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, April 30, 2005. She was born May 6, 1927 in Benjamin, Utah to Arlynn and Melva Stewart Hone. She grew up in Benjamin with parents who loved and taught her well. Geri was the oldest of four children. She attended school in Benjamin and graduated from Spanish Fork High School. She then went on to study at BYU. Geri met the love of her life, Basil Talbot, in April 1946 and they were married July 22, 1946 in the Manti Temple for time and all eternity. They were blessed with eight wonderful children. They served in the Tampa, Florida Mission in 1985 and enjoyed every minute of it, becoming very close to the people they met and taught. Their love for people made them special missionaries who for years would keep in touch with all those whose lives they touched. Geri loved quilting, gardening, camping with her family, playing piano, singing, cooking, sewing, and writing stories, poems, and in her journal. The joy in her life were her children and grandchildren, always thinking of them first. Survived by her husband, Basil; six sons and two daughters: Arlynn (Jeanette) Talbot of Spanish Fork, Robert (Linda) Talbot of Palmyra, Ken (Sheri) Talbot of Lake Shore, Randel (Marla) Talbot of Spanish Fork, Becky (Jeff) Roman of Moroni, Clair (LouAnn) Talbot of Spanish Fork, Douglas (Jill) Talbot of Spanish Fork, Nanette (Kevin) Johnson of Benjamin; 39 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers: LaVell (Arlene) Hone, Keith (Elaine) Hone, all of Benjamin; and one sister, Arleene (Keith) Horton of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlynn and Melva Stewart Hone; and grandson, Brody L. Talbot. Turner, Alfred Gerald Alfred Gerald Turner, age 84 of Lehi, died April 30, 2005 at his home of causes incident to age. He was born July 3, 1920 in Lehi to William Gerald and Amelia Vie Andreason Turner. Married Retta Jane Goodwin, May 18, 1946 in Provo. Marriage later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. Gerald served in the Utah National Guard and was inducted to full-time military service during World War II. He also served on the Lehi Auxilliary Police and Civil Air Patrol and was a volunteer with the Lehi Ambulance Dept. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, boating, water-skiing, snowmobiling, and gardening. He was a temple worker in the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos Temples and also gave many years providing lock-up security and snow-removal at his ward chapel. He was a devoted husband and father and hard-working provider to his family and he and Retta did everything together until her passing away on January 12th. Survived by one son and two daughters, Tony (Jan) Turner, Linda (Paul) Glathar, all of Lehi; Geraldine (Shirl) Leavitt, Clinton, UT; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Kenneth Turner and Roy (L'Dean) Turner, both of Lehi; Faye (Earl) DeCol, Copperton, UT.
