Born December 5, 1915, to William Starr and Mary Ellen Bell Alleman. He married Grace Lucille Tommas on January 16, 1943, at Mitchell Field, New York. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. He graduated from Springville High school in 1934. He attended Brigham Young University, majoring in Pre-Med. He served an LDS mission to Argentina in 1935 and returned in 1938. He joined the Utah National Guard of Springville as a Private in 1939. He graduated from various military schools, served during WWII in the Army Corps of Engineers, South Pacific Theater. Reorganized Co. A, 1457 Bn. 115 Engineer Gp. He retired as a full Colonel in 1975. In June 1964, he was privileged to represent the State of Utah in selecting a site for the WWII Memorial Monument in France. He was employed by U.S. Steel as a foreman in the rolling mills, retiring in 1980. He was a life-time member of Springville 2nd Ward serving various callings. He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club; and had 70 years of service in the Boy Scouts of America, receiving the Silver Beaver Award. He looked forward to his annual spring vacation of planting at Diamond's Greenhouse. He served as a docent in the Springville City Art Museum for over 50 years. He received the Governor's Silver Bowl Award for community service. He had a great love for reading, poetry, and Dutch Oven cooking. He was a member of the Utah Valley Muzzleloaders. Throughout all of his accomplishments, his most cherished rewards were his life-long friendships. Max's greatest love was his family. He is survived by wife, Grace (Springville), of 62 years; son-in-law, Lewis McCurdy (Lynbrook, NY); three sons: Duane and Barbara Alleman (Springville), Clifford and Terry Alleman (Springville), Tom and Kate Alleman (Price); and one daughter, Mary Ann and Todd Eyres (Springville); 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Glen and Afton Alleman (Springville); and sister, Mary Nell and J. Rolla (Dutch) Hall (Springville). He is preceded in death by daughter, Diana McCurdy; and two brothers, Dan and Harry Alleman. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2005, in the Kolob 2nd Ward LDS Chapel at 451 South Main Street in Springville. There will be a viewing held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville; and, Thursday, at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville City Cemetery with Military Rites by the American Legion. Turk, Charles Keith Charles Keith Turk 1930-2005 Charles Keith Turk, age 75, passed away peacefully at home in Orem, Utah, on Saturday, May 7th, 2005, after a long struggle with cancer and prolonged illness. Charles was born on February 26th, 1930, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. He taught school in Springfield, Missouri, then moved, with his wife, to Ventura County, California, where he was an elementary school principal and eventually retired as the Assistant Superintendent of the Rio School District in Oxnard, California. After retirement, he moved to Missouri where he continued working and helping others as a skilled "handyman", a hospital volunteer, and building for Habitat for Humanity. After his illness, he eventually settled in Utah where he found peace and support from so many wonderful friends. He enjoyed traveling and carpentry and was always willing to be of service to others. He taught his children from, a very young age, the value of hard work. Charles loved his family and always provided for their needs. He was a good neighbor and a kind friend to many. We will truly miss him. Charles is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Jo, and their three children: Joel Keith Turk, of Camarillo, California; Kimberlee Anne Turk, of Tucson, Arizona; Charles Cole Turk, of Lehi, Utah; and by his grandson, Benjamin Charles Turk, of Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith Turk and Oliver (Watterson) Turk; his sister, Barbara (Turk) Moore; and his brother, Robert A. Turk. Services will be held Tuesday, May 10th, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem. Friends and family may call Monday, May 9th from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary; and also, one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
