Born December 5, 1915 to William Starr and Mary Ellen Bell Alleman. He married Grace Lucille Tommas on January 16, 1943 at Mitchell Field, New York. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. He graduated from Springville High school in 1934. He attended Brigham Young University, majoring in Pre-med. He served an LDS mission to Argentina in 1935 and returned in1938. He joined the Utah National Guard of Springville as a Private in 1939. He graduated from various military schools, served during WWII in the Army Corps. of Engineers, South Pacific Theater. Reorganized Co. A, 1457 Bn. 115 Engineer Gp. He retired as a full Colonel in 1975. In June 1964 he was privileged to represent the State of Utah in selecting a site for the WWII Memorial Monument in France. He was employed by US Steel as a foreman in the rolling mills retiring in 1980. He was a life time member of Springville 2nd Ward serving various callings. He was a past president of the Kawanis Club. 70 years of service in the Boy Scouts of America, receiving the silver Beaver award. He looked forward to his annual spring vacation of planting at Diamonds Green House. He served as a docent in the Springville City Art Museum for over 50 years. He received the Governor's silver bowl award for community service. He had a great love for reading, poetry and Dutch oven cooking. He was a member of the Utah Valley Muzzleloaders. Through out all of his accomplishments his most cherished rewards were his life long friendships. Max's greatest love was his family. He is survived by wife Grace (Springville) of 62 years. Son-in-law, Lewis McCurdy (Lynbrook, NY) three sons: Duane and Barbara Alleman (Springville), Clifford and Terry Alleman (Springville), Tom and Kate Alleman (Price) and one daughter, Mary Ann and Todd Eyres (Springville). 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Brother Glen and Afton Alleman (Springville) and sister Mary Nell and J.Rolla (Dutch) Hall (Springville). He is preceded in death by Daughter Diana McCurdy and two brothers Dan and Harry Alleman. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Kolob 2nd Ward LDS Chapel at 451 South Main Street in Springville. There will be a viewing held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville and Thursday at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville City Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion. Messersmith, Cora American Fork - Cora Richins Messersmith, age 79, passed away Saturday May 7, 2005 at American Fork Hospital. She was born June 11, 1925 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Alfred and Florence Johnson Richins. She was married to her sweetheart, Vernal Messersmith, April 4, 1946 in Ogden, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Cora graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, her favorite being Relief Society President. Cora was a loving, hard working, talented woman. She loved square dancing, trips and family activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Mary (Cliff) Wadley, and her beloved son, David. Cora is survived by her husband, Vernal; daughter-in-law, Susan of American Fork; daughters, Diane Dayley, Pleasant Grove; Gaylene (Mike) Neil, Kanab; sisters, Glenda Murdock, American Fork, Louise (Alan) Austin, John (Vicki) Richins, Carl Richings, Pleasant Grove; Calvin (Pat) Richins, Hooper; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday May 12, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Harbor 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 600 South 100 West, American Fork. Family and friends may call at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Mildenhall, Ben Benjamin "Ben" Ray Mildenhall passed away suddenly, 5/4/05 in Arvada, CO while playing "hoops" with friends. He was born 7/30/1963 to Rae and Glen Mildenhall in Provo, UT. Ben grew up in Provo, UT as little brother to Tom, Joe, Kurt, Scott, and Guy and big brother to Sarah. He achieved his Eagle Scout while fostering his love of outdoor activities. Ben served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Japan, Tokyo North. A lesson he learned on his missions and continued throughout his life was the joy of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Soon after his return, he met his sweetheart Sheryl Lynn Smith and they married in the Provo, UT Temple. Together they grew a loving family of five children Charlene, Randy, Sydney, Erica, and Miquel while Ben completed his undergraduate degree at Utah State University. Ben loved his family, neighbors and friends and especially the youth. Ben is known by his family and friends for his big heart, willingness to have adventures, and making people laugh. Their home is always filled with teens and laughter. Ben is survived by his wife, his five children; his parents and siblings. Searle, Max Parker Max Parker Searle 1920~2005 Max Parker Searle, 85, passed away at his home on Mother's Day May 8, 2005 of causes incident to age. He was born in American Fork, Utah to Leslie Courtland and Ruby Parker Searle. He married Edith Wright in the Salt Lake Temple on December 5, 1939. He was raised in American Fork, Utah where he attended American Fork High School. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dad is survived by his wife Edith, four children: Robert Max Searle (Barbara Ann), Lawrence Wright Searle (Ann), Michael Reed Searle (Linda) and Mary Ann Searle Shawler (Terry G.), 21 grandchildren and 60 great grandchildren. Also a brother L. Kent Searle (Luana) and a sister Myrna Kay Searle Milne. He was preceded in death by his Father, Leslie Courtland and his Mother, Ruby Parker Searle, one brother, Don (Helen) Searle and one sister, Clea Searle (Richard) Cook. Dad spent most of his life farming where he and his brother Kent Searle were partners in dairy and fruit farming for 40 years. Kent said he can't remember having one argument with Dad. It was a great relationship. It was said of Dad that he could outrun any cow on the farm and if a cow needed to be caught it was Dad that was handed the lariat. Dad loved the out-of-doors. He especially loved his horse "Old Queen". He loved to hunt deer and fish with his friends and family. Dad loved people and often visited many of his friends and family in their declining years. Dad was very kind and would rather give everything he had away than have a dispute with anyone. Dad was on dialysis for the past three years at DaVita in Provo. He loved all those who were so willing to help him. We as a family are very grateful for your very attentive help and love for Dad. Dad said goodbye to his sweetheart here on Mother's Day, but had a great reunion with his Mother on the other side of the veil. We love you DAD. We know we will see you again. Viewing will be held at the Anderson and Sons Mortuary in American Fork on Wednesday the 11th of May from 6 to 8 pm and Thursday May 12th from 9:45 to 10:45 am at the American Fork 3rd Ward, American Fork Hillcrest Stake, 165 North 350 West, American Fork prior to the funeral service which will begin at 11 am. Tingey, Laurel Batty Laurel Batty Tingey, 55, of Bluffdale passed away Sunday, May 8, 2005 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born June 13, 1949 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Blaine and Ileen Rasband Batty. She married Brice Adams and together had two children. They were later divorced. She married Val Tingey on July 25, 1998 in Lindon. Laurel grew up in Lindon and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. She is survived by her husband Val of Bluffdale; children: Abraham (Hillary) Adams, Payson and Belinda (Jared) Senior, Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren; father, Blaine (JoAnn) Batty, Wallsburg; two sisters and three brothers. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ileen and brothers, Garth and Wade Batty. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 11, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary and on Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
