Reed B. Argyle Reed Betts Argyle, our loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, May 13, 2005, at the age of 77. Born May 9, 1928, in Payson, Utah, the son of Ivan & Venetta Betts Argyle. He married Gladys Haskell on November 2, 1950; she preceded him in death. He later married Dorothy Bearnson on July 11, 1969, in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Payson where they have resided for 36 years. Dad served in the Navy during WWII. He worked as an Air Traffic Controller in Kansas City, for a silver mine in Butte, Montana, with Geneva Steel for many years, and retired as a Superintendent of US Postal Operations. Reed was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Ward/Stake Financial Clerk for over 30 years and enjoyed giving service to many. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and had a passion for flying. He loved being surrounded by family and carrying on family traditions. Reed is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 36 years; his children: Joy Argyle Jasperson, Shaun Argyle, Edward Bearnson, and Karen (Kevin) Harward; seven grandchildren; brothers, Jack and Howard Argyle; sister, LaVerne Larsen; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Haskell Argyle; and his sister, Lillian Irick. Dad was cherished by all who knew him. He will be forever remembered for his love of family and his kind spirit. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at the Payson Mountain View Stake Center, 600 East 75 South, where family and friends may visit on Tuesday, 6-8 p.m.; and, again on Wednesday, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in the Payson City Cemetery. Published in the Daily Herald on 5/15/2005. Bray, Lynn W. Lynn W. Bray Lynn W. Bray passed away May 12, 2005, from a long battle with Leukemia. He was born June 12, 1920, to Wilford and Mable Matson Bray. Lynn spent his early childhood in Provo, attending Maeser Elementary, Farrer Junior High, and Provo High School. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Jo Marie Borgeson, on November 5, 1945. They were sealed for time and all eternity on December 14, 1963, in the Los Angeles Temple. Lynn is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held several offices in the Elders and High Priests Quorum. Lynn spent 35 years working for U.S. Steel in Pittsburg, CA, beginning as a craneman and retired as the Superintendent of Maintenance. He went back to work for Korff Engineering as a Project Manager on several projects in the Eastern States, buying, renovating, and installing steel mills. He retired for a second time after 16 years in Orem, UT, where he and his wife made their home. He is survived by a daughter, Jolynn Coffman; sons: Norman Bray (Michele), and David Smith (Sharon); and sister, Norma Naylor. Lynn was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Nancy Gregson; sons: Robert Bray and Danny Smith; his parents, Wilford and Mabel Bray; sister, Lois Darbro; and brother, Wesley Bray. There will be a viewing at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, UT, on Monday, May 16, 2005, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.; or, one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., in the Sunset Heights 6th Ward, 500 South 600 West, Orem, UT. Childs, Eldora Eldora Childs Eldora Alice York Braithwaite Childs, 92, passed away, after a valiant fight with congestive heart failure and diabetes, on May 10, 2005. Eldora was, and continues to be, an extraordinary light to those in this ordinary world. Her dedication to the Lord, her family and her friends was unmatched. She stretched her heart easily to love and serve all around her. Our tears are of sorrow because we will miss her, of gratitude because we are blessed to have known her, and of joy because we know we will be with her again. Born October 21, 1912, in Santaquin , Utah. She married Victor Braithwaite, and later divorced. She married her eternal sweetheart (Bob) on September 8, 1944. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on November 9, 1963. Eldora enjoyed singing with many church choirs, helping with flowers at funerals, preparing and serving food at banquets and serving as a visiting teacher for over 60 years. She was always serving her family and recalled fondly that she crocheted a bedspread for each of her three children. She was always full of life and especially loved to dance, play softball, and go fishing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Childs; her parents, Rolla and Alice (Carter) York; her three brothers: Marvin, Floyd, and Rolla York; and her sister, Ada Olson. She is survived by three children: Gary V. (Marcia) Braithwaite, of Orem; Marlene (Steve) Argyle, of Bountiful; Lynda (David) Broadbent, of Santaquin; 13 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the old Santaquin Stake Center, 90 S. 200 East. Friends and family may call at the Holladay-Brown Funeral Home, 66 S. 300 East, Santaquin, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m.; or, Thursday, at the church one hour prior to services. Published in the Daily Herald on 5/15/2005. Ellsworth, Wilford Kenton Wilford Kenton Ellsworth Wilford Kenton Ellsworth, 84, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. He was born October 2, 1920, to Wilford James and Cloketa Pickering Ellsworth, in Payson, Utah. He married Louise Webb of Payson, Utah, on January 26,1946 at Las Vegas, Nevada. They are the parents of two sons, Kaye Webb Ellsworth and Brad William Ellsworth. He was educated in Payson schools and graduated from Payson High School. He served his country during World War II, serving in General George Patton's Third Army Corps of Engineers. He served in nine campaigns from Africa through Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. Ken was a hard worker. He was a master builder, having worked on many of the large hotels in Las Vegas, where he and his wife lived for 53 years. He recently returned to live in Lehi, Utah. He lived life to its fullest. He had a keen sense of humor and a love of life. In his early years he loved to fish and hunt. He was nearly taken from us in 1990 when an aneurysm burst on his aorta. He had failing health since, but he had great determination to live. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints He is survived by Louise, his wife of 59 years; his sons, Kaye Ellsworth and Brad (Lynette) Ellsworth; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn (Curtis) Page, Payson and Deanna (Gary) Stokes of North Ogden. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Howard Ellsworth and a sister, Verdene Page Wilson. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah where friends and family may call Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 PM or Wednesday, 1 hour prior to services. Gilson, Grace Price Grace Price Gilson Our loving mother and grandmother, Grace Emma Trease Price Gilson, age 88, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2005, in Payson, Utah. She was born January 4, 1917, in Blackpine, Idaho, to John Wesley and Jessie Showalter Trease, one of 14 children. She married A.G. Price on November 28, 1932, in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on May 11, 1955. He died May 25, 1969. She later married Robert Gilson. He also preceded her in death. Grace was a longtime resident of Spanish Fork, Utah. She enjoyed sewing and taking care of her family. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Grace is survived by her three sons: Carl O. (Carol) Price, of North Ogden; Dennis Gary Price, of Grantsville; Ronald L. (Donna) Price, of Payson; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers: John Trease, of Hooper, Utah; and Floyd Trease, of Buel, Idaho. She is preceded in death by her husbands; grandson, Steven Price; and five brothers and six sisters. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the Spanish Fork 10th Ward Chapel, 381 East 400 North. Horton, Nathan Bryan Nathan Bryan Horton Nathan Bryan Horton, age 22, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. He was born May 26, 1982, in Fullerton, California, to Bryan Paul Horton and Khristey Wilson. He married Jaime Jensen in Provo, Utah. Nathan loved the outdoors, camping, and sports. He also enjoyed playing video games and electronics. Growing up, he made many memories with his best friend, his brother, Kevin. He liked teasing his cousins, loved children and animals, and loved hanging with his many friends. Nathan is survived by his mom, Khristey Wilson, and step-dad, Wm. Cary Brown; brother, Kevin William Horton; wife, Jaime Jensen; grandfathers, Billie J. Horton and Calvin K. Jolley; grandmother, Laura Nell Jolley; and many much loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his dad, Bryan Paul Horton; grandmother, Ivy M. Kiger, Mary Cook Mary Cook Kiger Mary Cook Kiger passed quietly from this earth on May 12, 2005. She was born in Provo, Utah, on November 18, 1917, to Annette and Leland Cook. Mary loved good humor, gardening and art; but most of all, she loved her family and friends. She is already missed but leaves our hearts filled with memories. She is survived by her children: Janet (Rod) Endow, of Boise, ID; and Jerry (Shannon) Anderson, of Provo, UT; along with seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Genevieve Gates, Helen Cupps, Annette Bauer; and brother, Leland "Bud" Cook. Her life was celebrated by her immediate family members on a warm, beautiful Sunday afternoon. Kitchen, Norval Thomas Norval Thomas Kitchen Norval Thomas Kitchen, 90, of Orem, passed away Friday, May 13, 2005, at his home. He was born on October 15, 1914, to Thomas Lee and Myrtle Asay Kitchen in Lovell, Wyoming. He married Fay Rowley on August 10, 1934, in the Salt Lake Temple. Norval was part of the graduating class of 1943 from Utah State University. Norval retired from Geneva Steel in 1976; and, later served a mission with his wife from 1977 to 1979 in the Nevada Las Vegas Mission. He held many positions in the Church including Scoutmaster, ward clerk, home teacher, and Seventies president. His greatest joy was his family and children. Some of his other joys included gardening, camping, hunting, and fishing. He is survived by his sisters: Hazel (Art) Collins, of Logan, Utah; and Beverly (Al) Morris, of Lyons, Colorado; brothers: Larry Kitchen, of Orem, Utah; and Arlo (Fern) Kitchen, of Providence, Utah; his children: Sherman (Margaret) Kitchen, Darrell (Karen) Kitchen, LaRae (John) Moosman, Steven (Caline) Kitchen, Norma (James) Brookes, and Rosalie Kitchen; a daughter-in-law, Chris Kitchen, 55 grandchildren, and 123 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Fay; sisters, Josephine and LeVore; a brother-in-law, Ben Long; a daughter, Janice; a son, Marvin R. Kitchen; and his daughter and her husband, Carolyn and Desmond Johnson. Nicol, Ned Ned Nicol Ned Nicol passed away on May 12th, 2005, at the age of 92, in St. George Ut. He was born in Heber City, Utah on October 27, 1912, a son of Gabriel and Stella Duke Nicol. He played basketball and graduated from Wasatch High, where he met his sweetheart and future wife, Doris. He worked at the Park City mines and then for Geneva Steel, where he retired after 30 years, working as a foreman of the rolling mills; then, went on to selling real estate. They enjoyed traveling; and, later on, spent their winters in St. George. He and Mom were in many bowling and golf tournaments. He was an excellent golfer and golfed into his 90's. He enjoyed life to the fullest, staying in touch with family and friends. When asked how he was, he would say "better than most". On August 12, 1935, he married Doris Lanor Burgener. They were later sealed on September 26, 1935, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had a loving relationship for 67 years. His eternal companion died December 10, 2002. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Children: Charlotte (Ed Hills), Larry Nicol (Bonnie), Julie (Reed Penrod), Harold Nicol (Nadine). They had 17 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, May 16th, at 11 a.m., in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, with a viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to service. Tilson, Phillip Phillip Tilson The son of Leland and Mary Rasmussen, Phillip Tilson, passed away on May 1, 2005 in Ely, Nevada in an auto accident. He graduated from Springville High School and worked in Provo as a mechanic. He is survived by his parents, brothers Avery and Mathew, sister Robyn, and daughter Lakayla Mae Tilson.
