He was born on July 30, 1927 in Heiner, Utah, the son of Alexander Jackson and Sena Isabelle Hartley Bell. He married Mary Louise Scoville on November 25, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on October 3, 1955. She preceded him in death on April 4, 1998. Glen attended elementary school in Fairview and High School at North Sanpete High. He served in the U.S. Navy. He worked at Trojan Powder Plant in Spanish Fork, as a barber at "Dutch's Barber Shop" in Provo, and later was head custodian at Spanish Fork High School. He enjoyed woodworking. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a temple worker, served in many bishoprics, was Bishop in the 4th Ward, and was Stake Executive Secretary. He and his wife served a mission in the Dallas, Texas Temple. Survivors include one son and one daughter: Les (Karen) Bell of Provo, and Linda (Bill) Fullmer of Fairview; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Bell of Spanish Fork; 16 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren; and one brother, Hugh (Ila) Bell of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Pete Bell; and four brothers: Jim, Pete, Sandy, and Allen. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 19, 2005 at 1 p.m. in the Spanish Fork 4th Ward Chapel, 381 East 400 North, Spanish Fork. Britsch, JoAnn Murphy JoAnn Murphy Britsch 1-23-1940 / 5-14-2005 Completing a life of love and service for her family, Church, students, neighbors and friends, Jo Ann Murphy Britsch died at her home in Orem, May 14, 2005, of causes resulting from a fall while traveling in Eastern Europe. Jo Ann was born January 23, 1940 , in Rexburg, Idaho, to Lee and Louise Murphy. Her early years were spent in Archer and Moreland, Idaho, but her family moved to Idaho Falls while she was in elementary school. While in high school she participated in Girls State and many drama productions. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 2058, having received a scholarship to Brigham Young University. During her years at BYU she was active in student government and the Val Norn social unit. While in her senior year at BYU she met and married R. Lanier (Lanny) Britsch on December 18, 1961, in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of four sons and two daughters. She graduated in May 1963, and taught English at Provo High School and Freshman English at BYU. In August 1964 she received her M.S. degree in English and Education. For the next two years she taught English at Claremont High School in Claremont, California, while her husband pursued doctoral studies. From early childhood Jo Ann was an avid reader, almost consuming books day by day. Over the years she taught English composition part time at BYU and for two years as a full-time faculty member she taught an array of English subjects at BYU-Hawaii. Jo Ann always held one position or another in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Teaching was her favorite calling, but she also presided in various auxiliaries of the Church. From 1993 to 2001, she served on the Materials Evaluation Committee„the Correlation Committee„of the Church. During 2002-2003, she and Lanny served in the Honolulu Hawaii Mission with assignments at BYU-Hawaii and the Polynesian Cultural Center. While there she served as an ordinance worker in the Laie Hawaii Temple. At the time of her passing she served as Gospel Essentials teacher in her Orem ward. Jo Ann loved art, especially water color painting. But she was a better critic and coach than artist and had wonderful taste in interior design. She passionately loved travel, eventually visiting forty-six nations. That which is beautiful touched her most. A neighbor said of her: "She was always so thoughtful, kind, attentive, supportive, artistic, understanding, sympathetic, loyal, intelligent, wise and fun. She seemed to have no ego problems and was one of the most highly evolved people I've been blessed to associate with in my life." Jo Ann is survived be her husband, Lanny, of Orem; children, Carl (JoLynne) of Houston, Texas; Catherine (David) Frantz of Charlottesville, Virginia; Curtis (Julie) of Pleasant Grove; Sheri of Honolulu, Hawaii; Randall (Rebecca) of Provo; and James ( Brittany) of Chadron, Nebraska; fifteen grandchildren; and a brother, Donald (Rebecca) Murphy of Idaho Falls. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sharon Stake Center, 750 South 800 East, Orem. Ellsworth, Wilford Kenton Wilford Kenton Ellsworth Wilford Kenton Ellsworth, 84, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. He was born October 2, 1920, to Wilford James and Cloketa Pickering Ellsworth, in Payson, Utah. He married Louise Webb of Payson, Utah, on January 26,1946 at Las Vegas, Nevada. They are the parents of two sons, Kaye Webb Ellsworth and Brad William Ellsworth. He was educated in Payson schools and graduated from Payson High School. He served his country during World War II, serving in General George Patton's Third Army Corps of Engineers. He served in nine campaigns from Africa through Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. Ken was a hard worker. He was a master builder, having worked on many of the large hotels in Las Vegas, where he and his wife lived for 53 years. He recently returned to live in Lehi, Utah. He lived life to its fullest. He had a keen sense of humor and a love of life. In his early years he loved to fish and hunt. He was nearly taken from us in 1990 when an aneurysm burst on his aorta. He had failing health since, but he had great determination to live. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints He is survived by Louise, his wife of 59 years; his sons, Kaye Ellsworth and Brad (Lynette) Ellsworth; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn (Curtis) Page, Payson and Deanna (Gary) Stokes of North Ogden. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Howard Ellsworth and a sister, Verdene Page Wilson. Jensen, Delma Ostler Delma Ostler Jensen Delma (Ostler) Jensen, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, returned to our beloved Heavenly Father on May 15, 2005. Delma was born July 3,1917 in Nephi, Utah to Edward and Sophia Selman Ostler. She Married Hyrum Rose Jensen on August 8,1941 and was later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on April 12,1950. Hyrum passed away on November 6,1988. Delma was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she loved to help others and was a librarian in the church for many years. Delma also taught Primary for 16 years and served as secretary for junior Sunday school. Delma loved spending her free time at the Payson City Senior Center where she worked for many years as Secretary of Senior citizens. Delma was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She is survived by: her three children, David Hyrum (Rosetta) Jensen of Payson; Neils Edward (Judy) Jensen of Nephi; Roseann Black of Oceana, California; and her 11 Grandchildren and 27 Great Grandchildren; two brothers, Max Ostler of Salt Lake City; and Donald Ostler of St. George Utah. Delma was preceeded in death by: her life long sweetheart, Hyrum; a brother, Wayne Ostler; a sister, Odesa (Ostler Jones) Davis; and 1 great-grandchild Hadley Jensen. Lake, Leona McCullough Leona McCullough Lake Leona McCullough Lake passed away Sunday, May 15, 2005 at Mountain View Hospital in Payson, Utah. She was 81 years old. She was born July 5, 1923 in Delta, Utah the daughter of Levi McCullough and Sarah Alvey. She married Ronald Barney Lake on March 11, 1941. The marriage was later solemnized in the Provo Temple. Leona and Ronald resided in Salem nearly 50 years. Leona loved to cook, especially for her family. She also loved to work in the garden and can the fresh produce. Leona loved to be with her children and grandchildren. Each year she had a very large Christmas party for the whole family. Dinner was served, presents were given, and every family member knew how much they were loved. She was a member of the Utah D.U.P. where she held many positions. When younger, she did a lot of quilting; each of her children received a handmade quilt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Lake. Surviving are her children: Jerry (Sherel) Lake, Nephi; Jim (Twyla) Lake, Payson; Frank (Elaine) Lake, Hooper; Linda (Philip, deceased) Peterson, Spanish Fork; Mel (Yvonne) Lake, Magna; Margaret (Randy) Brailsford, Salem; Ron (JoAnne) Lake, Salem; and Ray (Suzan) Lake, Highland. Leona has 32 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren. Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by one sister, Mildred Henrie of Colorado. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Salem West Stake Center, 695 South 300 West. Loader, Virginia Bezzant Virginia Bezzant Loader Virginia Bezzant Loader, 80, of Pleasant Grove, passed away peacefully at her loving granddaughter's home (Angie Tandy-Trammell) in Provo, Utah on Thursday, May 12, 2005. Virginia was born January 1, 1925, in Bingham, Utah, to Glen Lloyd and Luretha May Smith Bezzant. She married Forrest B. Loader in Provo. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Forrest passed away in 1981. Virginia grew up and attended schools in Pleasant Grove. Virginia dedicated her life to serving her husband and children. She cared for Forrest for many years while he battled M. S. She loved to be in her flower garden and won awards for her roses. Virginia learned the value of hard work as a third generation fruit farmer. She was very proud of her heritage and showed great respect for her ancestry. Virginia was a good friend to somany and could see the goodness in every person she met. She was an amazing mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her three children: Virginia Lee "Ginny" (Jerald) Chipman, Mesa, AZ; Patrice (Hamani) Pooi, Provo; and Joe (Maree) Loader, Salt Lake; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; three brothers: Robert, Jim, and Cliff Bezzant. She was preceded in death by two children: Gregory Loader and Suzanne Christensen. Moore, Alva Jefferson Alva Jefferson Moore Alva Jefferson Moore, 93, of Spring Lake, Utah, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2005, from causes incident to age. He was born July 15, 1911, in Goshen, Utah, to Alva Jefferson Moore, Sr. and Lydia Catheritle Jasperson. He married Ellen Maxine Pay on September 14, 1938, in the Salt Lake Temple. Alva spent his early years in Mosida, and moved with his family to Spring Lake, on Christmas Day, 1917. He lived in the same home from that day until last summer. He worked for 30 years with Utah State Road Department, but his real love was his farm and livestock. He could still be seen last April mowing his lawn and caring for his yard. He loved associating with the Payson Senior Citizens and telling old-time stories to anyone with a listening ear. He and Maxine worked for many years in the Provo Temple, a highlight of their lives. She passed away July 18, 1992. He is survived by his five children: Terrell Moore (Norma), David Moore (Gae), and Joy Lynn Benson (Bill) - all of Spring Lake; Kayleen Beebe (Robert), West Valley City; and Gordon Moore (Kathleen) of Sterling, Colorado; 21 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a grandson, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at 1 p.m., in the Spring Lake Church, 12625 S. Peterson passed away Saturday evening, May 14, 2005, at his home in Center Creek. He was born July 8, 1923, in Center Creek, Utah, to A. Ewing and Della Sweat Peterson. He married Ellen Gardner on May 28, 1947, in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church at the time of his passing. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was in five major battles and came home unharmed. Virl was a jack of all trades ~ he farmed, worked as a welder and an electrician; also, worked in the hard rock mines in Keetly, Utah; the coal mines in Sunnyside, Utah; and the uranium mines in Grants, New Mexico. He worked on the Duchesne and Vat tunnels; hauled logs. He loved his job with the Strawberry Water Users, because he could be in open spaces with his horses, one of his greatest loves. He taught his boys how to work. His last job was with the U.S. Forest Service. Member of the Heber Valley Riding Club, when it was first organized; and, also worked with the Search and Rescue under Sheriff Floyd Witt. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Ellen; daughter; Julie (Larry) Tubbs, of Neola; Brad E. (Shauna), of Duchesne; Bart (Carrie), of St George; Bret (Kelli), of Center Creek. 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Naida Bethers; and one brother, Dallas (Joyce) Peterson. Preceded in death by parents, and a baby boy; two grandsons, Marc Virl Kohler and Cole Peterson; three sisters. He was an avid bowler and outdoorsman. He served in many capacities in his church including ward clerk. He loved the Book of Mormon and knew it well. He attended schools in Heber until his senior year and graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City in 1942. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, at 11 a.m., in the Heber East Stake Center, 2400 S. Mill Road (1200 East). Pheysey, Stephen Grant Stephen Grant Pheysey Stephen Grant Pheysey, 23, died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at his home, of alcohol poisoning. Steve was a wonderful son, brother, and friend, and will be sorely missed. Steve was born on November 24, 1981, in Provo, Utah to James H. and Rebecca Duckett Pheysey. Steve attended Cascade Elementary, Canyon View Junior High, and graduated from Orem High School in 1999. He was awarded the Heritage scholarship to Brigham Young University and the Honors at Entrance scholarship to the University of Utah. He was currently a senior, majoring in Business Administration at the University of Utah. Steve was a brilliant young man with many interests and hobbies. He loved buying and fixing European sports cars, going rock and ice climbing with his brothers and friends, preparing gourmet and ethnic food for family and friends, flyfishing, bowhunting, and most outdoor activities. He loved learning and was an avid reader. He enjoyed using his talents and knowledge to help others. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harriett Pheysey, Jack Duckett, Irene Duckett, and a younger brother, William Robert Pheysey. Steve is survived by his parents, Jim and Becky Pheysey, three brothers, Michael (April) Pheysey, David Pheysey, Matthew Pheysey, one sister, Andie Pheysey, grandfather, Herbert Pheysey, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Travis J Simmons After enduring many life struggles, Travis J Simmons, 20, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2005. He was born to Deloras and Jay (deceased) Simmons on September 23, 1984, in Provo, Utah. He is survived by his brothers: J. Charles (Rachel) Simmons, Russel J Simmons, and Sean J Simmons (currently serving in the Michigan Detroit Mission). His greatest joy in life was his association with friends and family. Travis was a lovable person and made friends easily. He excelled at sports and loved to try new things. Growing up, he made many memories with his family and cousins. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, shooting, and fishing. He like to tease his mother and brothers, loved animals, and especially enjoyed hanging out with his friends. Travis will be missed. Our hearts are full of gratitude because we have been blessed to have him as part of our family; and, because we know we will be with him again. Tidwell, Josephine Shepherd Josephine Shepherd Tidwell Josephine Shepherd Tidwell, 78, of Pleasant Grove passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at her home. She was born January 19, 1927 in Orem to John and Florence Pace Shepherd, the tenth of eleven children. She married Roy Edwin Tidwell on June 1, 1944 in Springville. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple. Roy passed away in 1990. Josephine is survived by her four children: Roy Leon Tidwell, Santa Rosa, CA; Carol (Craig) Ericson, St. George; Eva (Sy) Carlson, Pleasant Grove; and Mark Tidwell, San Marcos, CA; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include four siblings: Annie Kitchen, Florence Draper, Charlotte Carson, and George Shepherd. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Robert Ericson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Timpanogos Seventh Ward Chapel, 193 North 400 East, Pleasant Grove where friends may call one hour prior to services.
