He was born May 18, 1938 to Murril and Erva Norman Draper in Fairview, Utah. He was raised in Provo, but spent much of his childhood in Fairview, of which he had many fond memories. He attended Timpanogos Elementary, Dixon Jr. High, and graduated from Provo High. He married JoAnn Johnson on May 20, 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple, and together they had five children. He was employed by Provo City and worked in the Utilities Department for 39 years, where he made many life long friends and had many good times. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife of Provo; children: Scott (Debbie) Draper of Orem; Greg (Sandra) Draper of American Fork; Dana (Brent) Uresk of Spanish Fork; Jennifer (Glen) Buchanan of Lehi; and Chad (Amy) Draper of Omaha, Nebraska; and 18 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., in the Grandview Ward Chapel, 1270 West 1150 North, Provo. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Thursday evening, from 6-8 p.m., or Friday afternoon, at the Ward Chapel, one hour prior to services. Larsen, age 79 passed away May 22, 2005, from cancer. He was born May 3, 1926 in Castle Gate, Utah, a son of Leonard E. and Catherine Jane Evans Larsen. He graduated from Carbon High School, and went on to serve in the United States Army during World War II. He married Norma Clark on October 26, 1955. She preceded him in death on November 24, 2002. Don worked for United States Steel at Geneva for 35 years. He is survived by three daughters: Suzanne Gay, Sandy, UT; Ricki (Mark) Cannon, Circleville, UT; Sharon (Gonzalo) Melendez, Bountiful, UT; five grandchildren: Ashley (Ryan) Horton; Cole Cannon (serving aboard the USS Peleliu); Ty Cannon; Jeffrey Gay; and Jennifer Gay; two great-grandchildren, Hagen and Rylie Horton; one brother, Hayden (Colleen) Larsen, West Valley, UT. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, a son, Gary Larsen, two brothers, Earl and Willis, and two sisters, Vera and LaRee. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 27, 2005, 12:00 noon, at the Orem City Cemetery 1500 North 800 East, Orem. Family and friends may meet at the Cemetery. McClure, Benny Rex Benny Rex McClure Benny Rex McClure returned to his heavenly father on May 24, 2005. He was born to Ben L. McClure and Elsie Simpson McClure May 28, 1933. He was born in Provo, Utah but moved to other states, eventually returning to Utah where he has resided since. He married Loretta Joyce Rieske on September 4, 1953. He served in the U.S. Army for three years when he was drafted during the Korean War. He worked for Vern Dixon, a building contractor, for many years before entering Utah Technical College (now UVSC) to study welding. Benny graduated in 1968 with an Associates Degree in welding. He worked for Mountain States Steel Co. for 18 years before it closed. He then worked for Timpanogos Metal, Inc. for 10 years and at Mitey Lite, Inc. in the chair department for seven years. Benny was an excellent welder. He was noted for the best looking welds. He could weld any kind of metal. He taught many of his co-workers to weld which he enjoyed doing. Benny loved to fish, hunt and go camping. He loved to go for drives in the mountains, enjoying their beauty and picnicking there. He loved to target shoot with his family and co-workers and loved going out to breakfast on Sunday mornings. Benny was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Laura, in-laws Max and Hortense Rieske, brother Richard McClure, and brothers-in-law Mike Kelly and Terry Horrocks. He is survived by his wife, his two daughters Barbara (Kim) Bushnell of Bountiful, Utah and Sandra McClure of Provo, Utah, five grandchildren, Aaron, John, Kristien, Greg, and Bradley, sister-in-law Dorene McClure, sisters Gloria Schmidt, Joan Horrocks and Betty (Clyde) Powell, and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 S. State Street. Friends and family may meet at the cemetery. He was born Mar 20, 1917 in Nephi, Utah the son of Bertrand Harley and Edith Musette Goble Sparks. He was a graduate of Nephi High School. He married Donna Lucile Tanner Oct 6, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple. She died in an automobile accident on June 4, 1973 in Lehi, Utah. He later married Margaret Hatch Nielsen on June 29, 1979. They lived in Nephi until his retirement when they moved to American Fork. Dee was a veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater. He was the owner/operator of Sparks Wholesale Candy Co., distributing products between Nephi, Delta and Cedar City. Survivors include 8 children, Helen (Dee) Tranter, Moab; DeRay (Sandra) Sparks, Grantsville; Scott (DeeAnna) Sparks, American Fork; Ann (Michael) Arehart, Moab; Mavaun Nielsen, Spanish Fork; Linda (Jay) Allen, American Fork; Diane (Rex) Newman, Pleasant Grove; Cheryl Jean (John) Leka, Salt Lake City; 28 grandchildren and 70 great, 3 great great grandchildren; 1 brother, Clark (Grace) Sparks, St. George and sister-in-law Bernice Sparks, Nephi. Services will be held at 11 am Wed, May 25, 2005 in the American Fork 10th Ward at 507 W 700 N. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 prior to services.
