Vesta was born on January 28, 1917 in Blackfoot, Idaho. She was the sixth of seven children born to George Thomas Cobbley and Berthenia Phipps Harper. She attended schools in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School. Vesta worked in retail sales all of her life and started dating her eternal sweetheart, Raymond Hicks Blackburn, while they were both working for C. C. Andersons Department Store in Blackfoot. They were married March 30, 1940, and were later sealed on July 9, 1947 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They worked side by side throughout their married life in the retail business and retired together from Mercantile Stores in 1981. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities throughout her life. She was very talented in homemaking skills. She excelled in cooking, crocheting, sewing, needlepoint and ceramics and was always willing to share her talents with her children and loved ones. She was the mother to three children, whom she loved dearly and they were her pride and joy. She moved with her husband to Orem, Utah, in 1985 to be closer to her family. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Cove Point Retirement Community for their loving care and assistance to her for the past several years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Blackburn; son, Bruce Blackburn; brothers, Owen, Paul and Theron; sisters Mary and Thora; and grandson Richard Todd Blackburn. She is survived by her son, Richard (Betty) Blackburn, West Jordan, Utah; daughter, Marilyn (Gary) Dillenbeck, Orem, Utah; sister, Larue (LaVell) Goodwin, St. George, Utah; sister-in-law Barbara (Paul) Cobbley, Idaho Falls, Idaho; twelve grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m., at the Berg Mortuary Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Virginia Healy Bringhurst, passed away October 24, 2005. She was born on November 1, 1911 in Murray, Utah to James Lawrence and Anna Jensen Healy. Married Ray Neil Bringhurst in the Salt Lake Temple on August 15, 1932; he passed away on November 25, 1987. Virginia was an active member of the LDS Church. She loved teaching young children in Primary & Sunday School. She was a wonderful seamstress, homemaker, hostess, and excellent cook. She loved to give parties. Mom & Dad felt their greatest accomplishment was raising 4 children who all graduated from college, married in the Temple, and their sons and sons-in-law all served missions. Virginia's family was the most important thing to her. She left a great legacy of service to her family. Survived by her sons, Kent H. Bringhurst (Margaret); Paul H. Bringhurst (Sue); daughters, RaeAnn Fischbeck (Rod), Joan Allred (Mel); 26 grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her son, Arlan Neil Bringhurst. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Alta Ridge Assisted Living Staff, and Millcreek Hospice staff, especially Lynda Davies & Dr. Lance Hewitt for their loving and compassionate care. Corsini, Sylvia Sylvia Corsini Sylvia Louise Corsini, our beloved sister, sister-in-law, aunt and great aunt, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. Sylvia was born on December 10, 1932 in Plymouth, MA to Adelio and Leontina (Benotti) Corsini. She is survived by her brother, Larry A. (Sharon) Corsini of Foresthill, CA and their three children: Tina Corsini (Jan) Day of Springville, UT, Keri Corsini (Douglas) Rock of Ontario, OR and Larry W. (Araceli) Corsini of Dallas, TX. Also surviving are her great nephews and nieces: James, Robert, Thomas and Emmali Day; Nicholas, Ashley and Jasmin Rock and Stefano Concha-Corsini and Larry R. Corsini. Sylvia graduated from Plymouth High School in 1950. She continued her education at Regis College where she graduated in 1954. She obtained her Master's Degree in Education in 1956 from Calvin Coolidge College. Sylvia taught school in France and Germany. She experienced many wonderful opportunities during these years abroad with people who became her lifelong friends. She continued to talk of these experiences throughout her life. Upon returning to the States she taught 3rd grade until her retirement in 1989 giving a lifetime of service to unnumbered children. After retirement, Sylvia moved west to be closer to her brother's family. She spent three years in California and 12 years in Springville, Utah near her niece, Tina Day. Sylvia was always civic minded, an active member of St. Mary's parish while in Plymouth and St. Francis of Assisi parish in Orem, Utah. She also loved her association with the Leisure Club and the Red Hat's Society. Sylvia loved and lived to spend time with her many friends. Syl loved to travel and visited many destinations in Europe and the United States. She loved being involved with her great nieces and nephews. One tradition she established was portraying Plymouth's Pilgrim heritage in the elementary school of these great nieces and nephews by dressing up and sharing the history of the Pilgrims, enchanting all who were in the audience. All who knew Sylvia were affected by her enthusiasm and her love of life. She made dear friends all across the United States and abroad. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the staff and doctors of the ICU at UMRMC in Provo, Utah for their tender care during her last days. A Memorial Mass was held for Sylvia on Sunday, October 23, 2005. Burial services will take place in Plymouth, Mass. Currey, Alexander Wayne Alexander Wayne Currey Alexander Wayne Currey of Provo, Utah, passed away Sunday, October 23rd, 2005. Alexander (Alex) was born September 2, 1981, in Provo, Utah, to Steven and Delia Currey. He attended Timpview High School. He was an avid rock climber and a river guide in the Grand Canyon. Alex had a kind loving heart who loved the outdoors. Alex is survived by his mother, Delia Currey; his father, Steven Currey; brothers: James Currey, Neal Currey, Jordan Currey and Chaison Currey; step-mother, Julia Currey; step-brother, Jacob Mitchell, step-sisters, Lisa Mitchell and Katherine Mitchell, grandparents, Francisco Gomez, grandmother, Margarita Gomez, Lyn & Betty Leasure. Felix, Juanita Alvey (Barney) Our beloved Juanita Barney Alvey Felix, 87 of Springville, passed away Monday, October 24, 2005. She was born May 22, 1918 to Royal Barney and Lilly Moosman Barney of Escalante, Utah. Juanita was reared as oldest of a large family and attended schools in Escalante. Here she met and married the love of her life, Victor Alvey. They were sealed together for time and eternity in the St. George Temple, April 3, 1936. Together they had four sons who were the pride and joy of their lives. During their marriage they lived in Escalante, Mapleton and Salem. They then moved to Nampa, Idaho where Victor was killed in 1951. Juanita and her sons moved to Springville where her parents resided. Juanita had various places of employment while raising her boys, and her most rewarding was at B.Y.U. working with different ethnic groups. She married Ivan Felix in 1953. Together they served a mission in Canada in 1977 and served among the Lamanites whom they grew to love. They were together for 45 years. In their latter years, they spent several winters in Overton. Ivan passed away in 1998. Juanita had various church callings in the LDS Church. She loved her family and they were her whole life. She is loved by many family members, neighbors and friends and will be missed greatly by all who knew her. She dedicated her life serving and loving her family. She is survived by four sons: Jerald (Tamara) Alvey; Tom (April) Alvey; Ron (Karen) Alvey and Wallace (Sharon) Alvey: four stepchildren: James (Monta) Felix; Karl (Merlene) Felix; Gordon (JoAnn) Felix and Beth (Tommy) George: 19 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers and two sisters: Kay Barney, Howard Barney, Terry Barney, Nina Reid and Jean Brown. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Hobble Creek West Stake Center at 555 South 600 East in Springville. There will be a viewing held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South and Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services. Gordon-Smith, Summer St. George, Ut - Summer Sorenson Gordon Smith, returned home to her Heavenly Father on October 24, 2005, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Summer was born October 2, 1980, in Gunnison, Utah to Paul and Tyran Sorenson. She was a source of joy and inspiration to her entire family. She loved school, reading, poetry, the arts and had the voice of an Angel. She began her education at BYU in pre-med. She wanted to become a doctor. She graduated from BYU in April 2003. Because of her illness, she was unable to pursue her medical studies, and instead received her Bachelor's in English and a teaching degree. She began teaching at Spanish Fork High School in the fall of 2004. While at BYU, Summer met George Gordon-Smith who became her eternal companion on May 4, 2002, in Manti LDS Temple. Together they faced and fought her illness with love and perseverance. Against all odds they were blessed with a baby boy, Maxwell who turned one on October 21st. Max was Summer's greatest joy and incentive over this last difficult year of her life. Summer was truly an angel on this earth, and we understand why heaven wanted her home so early. She will be missed so very much. Our lives are forever blessed for having known and loved her. We long for the day we are reunited as a family. Summer is survived by her husband George Gordon-Smith and their son Maxwell. Her parents Paul and Tyran Sorenson (Hurricane), brothers; Jamison and Zach and sister Lindy. Grandmother Dayna Barney (St. George), Grandparents Elwood and Julia Sorenson (Axtell) and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28, 2005, at 12 p.m., at the Hurricane West LDS Stake Center, 700 W. 270 S., Hurricane, UT. Sutch, LeMar LeMar Sutch (84) passed away at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center on Monday, October 24, 2005 of pneumonia. LeMar was born in Castle Gate to Oliver and Ada Agar Sutch. He attended schools in Carbon County, graduating from Carbon High School in 1939. He attended Carbon College studying welding. LeMar was employed by F. W. McGraw as a pipe welder in the construction of Geneva Steel Plant. He later worked in the maintenance department and rolling mill. As a result of polio, LeMar attended Henager Business College earning an Associates Degree. Subsequently, he worked as Chief Deputy Auditor for Utah County, as an accountant for the Utah State Highway Department, at P.E. Ashton Company and McNally's Mountain States Steel. He retired in 1981 due to failing eye sight. LeMar was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Margaret Mathews and Lucille Davis, and by five brothers, Oliver Agar Sutch, Albert Ernest Sutch, Christopher Richard Sutch, Peter Sutch and Robert Sutch. He is survived by two nieces and one nephew, Ada Rae Sutch Nusink, Susan Sutch Crandall, and Robert Sutch. Graveside services are under the direction of Berg Mortuary of Provo and will be conducted by Story Lodge #4 on Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Timpanogos Memorial Gardens, 1000 North 400 East, Orem, Utah. Weight, Jerold Arthur "Mr. Bionic" Jerry returned to our Heavenly Father on October 23, 2005 following a heart attack. Son of Dr. Jesse Johnson and Thelma Eggertsen, Jerry was born December 5, 1933 in Provo, Utah. Growing up in Provo, Jerry graduated from BY High and attended BYU. In 1954, he married Joyce Cassity and soon after served an LDS mission to the Central Atlantic States. In the 1960's, Jerry moved his family to Samoa where he taught seminary classes. Upon returning to Utah, Jerry earned his doctorate degree in psychology from BYU and began his career working as a counselor with children at the Davis School District where he retired in 2003. Dad always took pride in his children, cabin, and the "3 bears" trail. Always the consummate host, his home and cabin were always open to family and friends where food and love abounded. Jerry also had a great love for music, square dancing and enjoyed being a member of several singing ensembles. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Jerry dedicated his life to the service of others. He was currently serving a mission as a tour guide in the LDS Conference Center. Survivors include his children Michael (Jeri), Paul (Caroline), Jeff, Tori, and Vickie (Charlie);sister Merlynne Grill, 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at the Edgemont 6th Ward Chapel, 4000 North 650 East in Provo.
