Nuttall 9/5/33 ~ 12/7/03 Vernita M. Cannon Perry Nuttall, 70, of Alpine, Utah, died December 7, 2003 of congestive heart failure. She was born in Los Angeles, California on September 5, 1933 to Vern Henry and Anita Warner Cannon. She married Bob G. Perry on February 5, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had six children and were later divorced. She lived in Provo until 1978 where she attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a nursing degree in 1972. She found joy in the service of others. She practiced nursing with fervor and much love until she retired in 1992 for health reasons. She moved to her beloved Alpine in 1978 where she surrounded herself with the greatest of friends and neighbors. Vernita was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her many years of church service, she was valued for her worth and many homemaking skills. She was active in learning new things and challenging her ability to grow. As a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, she loved teaching of her pioneer heritage. One cannot think of Vernita without seeing her love for the holidays, with Christmas being the peak of all the holidays. Her love of the Savior was always evident in how she revered the sacred meaning of Christmas. She loved to give her Christmas gifts to Alpine. Her greatest joy in! her later years was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an example of love and service to all her family members. She is survived by her two sisters: Jerilee Cannon Thompson, of Anaheim, California; and Maryina Cannon Herde, of Provo; six children: Suzanne Perry, of Boulder Creek, California; Jan Perry, of Murray; Darla Perry, of Aurora, Colorado; Mark Cannon (Melanie) Perry, of Pinedale, Wyoming; Cathi Lyn (Charles) Penrod, of Pleasant Grove; Cheri Ann Lechtenberg, of Murray; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at Alpine Stake Center at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Alpine City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Perry Family Missionary Fund c/o Wells Fargo Bank. Published in the Salt Lake Tribune on 12/10/2003.
