Hardee ST. GEORGE -- Gail V. Hardee passed away December 2, 2004, after a long bout with cancer. He was born July 18, 1923 in Mohrland, Emery County, Utah, to Alvin Sylvester Hardee and Zelma Leone Cloward. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Leah Frandsen, May Sterger, and Myrle Satterfield. He is survived by his brother, Clell Hardee of St. George and a sister, Syble Dohrman of Murrietta, California, and many nephews and nieces. His family moved to California when Gail was six. He graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School. He entered the service early in World War II and served until the conclusion of the War in 1945. After leaving the service, he joined the aircraft manufacturing company of McDonald-Douglas, where he worked 44 years. Upon retiring, he moved to St. George where he lived near members of his family until his death. He never married but knew the names of all the numerous progeny of his siblings. He was an avid baseball fan and could recall many plays and players of years past. He was a quiet person but very astute with a clever sense of humor. He loved his family, friends, and the church. The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice. We will all miss him. Viewing will be held Sunday, December 5, 2004 at Metcalf Mortuary, 300 W. St. George Blvd., from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Graveside service will be held Monday, December 6, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at St. George City Cemetery.
