Larry was born to Donald and Marjorie Sower on November 20, 1948, in Stuttgart, Germany. He grew up in Army military bases all over the world, before his family settled in Price, Utah. Larry graduated from Carbon High School in Price in 1966, attended University of Utah and completed an Associate Degree in Chemistry in 1972. Larry spent 30 years in industrial and agricultural mineral production, developed several patents and worked on projects in Chile, Israel, Jordan, China and Canada. In the United States, he worked for Texas Gulf Resources and Great Salt Lake Minerals. In the hog industry, Larry pioneered the use of total containment lagoon systems and was instrumental in the industrial layout, design and development of Circle Four Farms near Milford, Utah. At the time of his death, Larry was President of Crystal Peak Farms, Inc. and was actively engaged in research in the field of livestock waste management focusing on holistic solutions to the environmental problems of the industry. Larry was deeply committed to the support and promotion of Beaver County. He served on the Milford City Council, owned and operated the Dodge City News, owned a bar and a diner in Milford and worked to attract economic development to Southern Utah. Larry also served as President of the Western Utah Mining Association; Vice Chairman, Utah Rural Development Council, President of the Beaver County Economic Development Corporation; and served as a Board Member on the Beaver County Planning Commission and Utah Center for Rural Life. In recognition of his efforts to improve the economic base of Beaver County, Larry was awarded the Medallion of Southern Utah Honors from Southern Utah University in 1993. Larry had a life-long abiding belief in the strength of the individual, pioneering spirit and rural communities. He loved fishing, hunting and the solitude of his mountains and deserts. Larry married Sharon Bastian in 1968 in Moab, UT. They had two children, Brittany Renee Sower, and Christopher Michael Sower. Larry married Mary Stewart in 1988. They blended families with Mary's daughters, Felicia and Jennifer Van Leuven. Larry was preceded in death by his father, LTC Donald Sower, and his brother Donald M. Sower. He is survived by his mother, Marjorie, his wife Mary, his children (Brittany, Christopher, Felicia and Jennifer), his sisters (Stacia, Kathleen and Susan) and seven grandchildren. A Wake is scheduled in celebration of his life on Saturday, December 11, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at the Milford City Office Building, 26 South 100 West, Milford, Utah. Delaine Waters Delaine Jones Waters returned to her Heavenly Father with her loving children at her side on December 1, 2004 in Cape Coral, Florida, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and David Stevenson. She was born in Cedar City, Utah on June 10, 1930 to Thomas Grant and Mabel Geneva Robb Jones. She married Richard Austin McBride and later divorced. She then married William A. Waters, who died September 26, 1998 and is buried in the Paragonah Cemetery. After the death of William, Dee moved to Irvine, California to live with her daughter Christine and her husband Dave, and moved with them to Florida in 2001. She was a retired floral shop owner. Delaine is survived by her son Richard Vernon (Kay) McBride of St. George, Utah; daughter Christine (David) Stevenson of North Fort Myers, Florida; three grandsons whom she cherished so much, David Lahari McBride of Costa Mesa, California, Glenn Richard Cuevas of Orange, California and William Steven Cuevas of Costa Mesa, California; step-grandchildren Mark Hancey of St. George, Utah, Dean (Angell) Hancey of St. George, Utah, Denise Dalton (Mica Scalise), Annette (Jose) Sioson and Dana (Misty) Stevenson; step-greatgrandchildren Chance Hancey, Chad Hancey, Brock Dalton, Brogan Dalton, Kyliegh Hancey, Kelsie Moniz and Alexis Sioson. She is also survived by siblings Thomas Grant (Conita) Jones of Las Vegas, Nevada, Javene Gordon of Lewiston, Idaho and Dale (Jolene) Smith of Midvale, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents Grant and Geneva Jones, Step-mother Iras Jones, husband Bill Waters, grandson Scott Hancey, brothers Albert Jones and Warren Smith, sister Margie Bess, and niece Cindy Bess. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the Parowan 1st and 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 87 West Center, Parowan, Utah. Viewing will be held at the Church from 10:00-10:45 AM. Burial will follow services at the Paragonah Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab, Utah. They can be found on the Web at www.kidney.org/funds/ makegift.cfm Beverly Joyce Jensen Beverly Joyce Jensen St. George -- Beverly Joyce Jensen, age 75, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2004, in St. George. She was born April 15, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Ernest Andrew and Mary Lucille Harrison Lehman. She married Grant Irvin Jensen on July 11,1947, in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Oakland Temple. They were together for 25 years and divorced. Joyce was born, raised, and educated in Salt Lake City, where she graduated from West High School. She and Grant started their family in Salt Lake City, later moving to the San Francisco area in 1957. Then, they retired to Santa Clara, Utah in 1972. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joyce loved sharing her musical talents by singing in the Messiah Choir. She taught Primary for many years. Some of Joyce's favorite pastimes were crocheting, needlework, sketching, and beautiful roses. She took pride in her role as a homemaker, and she often canned and shared it with her friends and family. Those who knew Joyce would describe her as one who enjoyed serving others and a woman of compassion with a forgiving spirit. Some of her fondest memories were the times she spent with her children and grandchildren, whom she dearly loved. Joyce is survived by her: three sons, Bruce (Cathy) Jensen, of Las Vegas, NV, Randy (Lourdes) Jensen, of Orem, UT, and Ernest (Anna) Jensen, of Las Vegas, NV; daughters, Marjorie Blakely, of Ririe, ID, and Susan (Rodney) Broadhead, of St. George, UT; 35 grandchildren; 34 greatgrandchildren; and one sister, Edna Stapley Bearnson, of Ivins, UT. She was preceded in death by her: parents; twin daughters, Jana Lee and Joyce Lee; granddaughter, Angie Jensen; and sister, Leah Marie Murphy. The family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful staff at the St. George Care Center for the great care they gave our mother. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 9, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel. There will be viewings Wednesday, December 8, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., and again Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to services, both at the Mortuary.
