She was born in Cedar City, Utah on June 10, 1930 to Thomas Grant and Mabel Geneva Robb Jones. She married Richard Austin McBride and later divorced. She then married William A. Waters, who died September 26, 1998 and is buried in the Paragonah Cemetery. After the death of William, Dee moved to Irvine, California to live with her daughter Christine and her husband Dave, and moved with them to Florida in 2001. She was a retired floral shop owner. Delaine is survived by her son Richard Vernon (Kay) McBride of St. George, Utah; daughter Christine (David) Stevenson of North Fort Myers, Florida; three grandsons whom she cherished so much, Davin Lahari McBride of Costa Mesa, California, Glenn Richard Cuevas of Orange, California and William Steven Cuevas of Costa Mesa, California; stepgrandchildren Mark Hancey of St. George, Utah, Dean (Angell) Hancey of St. George, Utah, Denise Dalton (Mica Scalise), Annette (Jose) Sioson and Dana (Misty) Stevenson; stepgreatgrandchildren Chance Hancey, Chad Hancey, Brock Dalton, Brogan Scalise, Ashley Scalise, Jordan Scalise, Kyliegh Hancey, Kelsie Moniz and Alexis Sioson. She is also survived by siblings Thomas Grant (Conita) Jones of Las Vegas, Nevada, Javene Gordon of Lewiston, Idaho and Dale (Jolene) Smith of Midvale, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents Grant and Geneva Jones, Stepmother Iras Jones, husband Bill Waters, grandson Scott Hancey, brothers Albert Jones and Warren Smith, sister Margie Bess, and niece Cindy Bess. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the Parowan 1st and 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 87 West Center, Parowan, Utah. They can be found on the Web at www.kidney.org/ funds/makegift.cfm. Gordon Mitchell Adams Las Vegas, NV -- Gordon Mitchell Adams, age 60, passed away November 15, 2004, at his home in Las Vegas, NV. He was born August 10, 1944, in Cedar City, UT, to D Watson and Veda Mitchell Adams of Parowan, UT. He married Brenda Chamberlain July 28, 1967, in the St. George Temple. They later divorced, but from their union came three beautiful children: Jared, Scott, and Brigette. Gordon loved his children very much. Gordon was reared and attended school in Parowan, UT. He later attended Southern Utah State College and Brigham Young University. From 1964-66, he served a mission in Western Canada for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Gordon enjoyed a wide variety of occupations during his lifetime. He and his wife, Brenda, owned and operated the Parowan Dairy Freeze for nine years. In 1984, he, along with his brothers, developed the Copper Chase Condominiums at Brian Head Ski Resort. Gordon's diverse talents contributed to his remarkable and succesful career in law enforcement. He was a patrolman and detective with both Clark County and Iron County Sheriff's Departments for a total of twelve years. He then became a surveillance investigator, director, and supervisor for several major Las Vegas hotels. He was employed with Griffin Investigations since 1989 and held the position of manager at the time of his death. He served as Regional Director for both the Nevada and Utah Peace Officer's Association and as the State Pistol Committe Chairman with the Utah Police Officers. Gordon was a superior marksman, entering in many handgun and distance shooting competitions with championship status. Gordon loved his hometown, his family, and his numerous friends. He was precise, decisive, and intelligent. He said what he meant and did what he said. He loved outdoor recreation with his sons and brothers, especially fishing, hunting, and auto racing. Gordon's influence and superior talents were deelpy respected. He affected many along his life's journey and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children, Jared Adams, of Las Vegas, NV, Scott (Sandra) Adams, of Hurricane, UT, and Brigette Adams, of Parowan, UT; two grandsons, Miguel, of Hurricane, UT, and William Daniel, of Parowan, UT; brother, Rodney (Colleen) Adams, of Parowan, UT; and sister, Sonya (Duane) Lamoreaux, of St. George, UT; and friend, Blue Ash, of Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Mitchell Adams. Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 11, 2004, at 12:00 p.m. in the Parowan Third and Fourth Ward Chapel, 90 S. Main, Parowan, UT. Carlyle Stirling Leeds -- Carlyle Stirling, 76, returned to his Heavenly Father Dec. 7, 2004 while at home surrounded by his loved ones, after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Carlyle was born on June 30, 1928 to Marguerite McMullin and Joseph Stirling in Leeds, UT and lived his entire life there. He attended school in Leeds through the eighth grade and graduated from Woodward Jr. High, Dixie High and Dixie Jr. College in St. George, UT. Later he graduated from the College of Southern Utah with his Bachelor's degree, and received a Master of Education degree from the University of Utah. Carlyle married Geraldine Hafen, April 12, 1951 in Santa Clara, UT. Their marriage was later solomnized in the St. George Temple, February 13, 1958. He always remarked that Geraldine was a great influence for good throughout their married life. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 12, 2001 by going on a cruise to Hawaii and having a family reunion. They did a lot of traveling in their later years. They traveled the world together on several cruises, their last trip was to Russia this past August. He served many years on the Town Council in Leeds, and as a Director of the Leeds Water Co. Carlyle served the Lord faithfully, serving in two bishoprics and as Bishop of the Leeds Ward for over seven years. He also served in the Washington Stake High Council, and as the first Stake President of the newly created Washington West Stake for eight and a half years, (later renamed the St. George Pine View Stake). He was released due to his poor vision from macular degeneration. He also was a home teacher for many years, Sunday School President, Secretary of Mutual, and many other callings. He worked in the uranium and silver mines in Silver Reef in the 1950's for about seven years, and was advanced to the position of mine foreman. He taught school in the Washington County School district for 30 years. He taught at the East and West Elementary, the Middle School, and the Woodward Sixth Grade Center. He served as the President of the Washington County Education Association, and was also chosen by his peers to be leader of the productivity model at the Woodward Sixth Grade Center. He was a well respected educator and influenced the lives of many children. Carlyle loved the outdoors, going deer hunting, fishing, farming, and raising cattle and fruit on his farm. He was always a man of his word, and was completely fair and honest in all his dealings. He was very generous to his neighbors and friends, often delivering them fruit and produce from his garden. His good sound advice was sought by many, as was his knowledge of Leeds and the surrounding area. Carlyle loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much. Carlyle is survived by his wife of 53-1/2 years; five children: Dr. Mack Stirling and wife, Dixie, of Traverse City, MI; Lloyd Stirling of Payson, UT; Colleen Gardner and husband Dr. Bronson Gardner of Garfield Hts., OH; Curtis Stirling and wife, Kay, of South Jordan, UT; and Carol Whitmer and husband, Ronald of Leeds, UT; 16 grandchildren: Karla, Marci, Adrienne, Kristin, Janet, Grant, Brian, Kevin, Mark, Spencer, Todd, Danielle, Stacey, Justin, Michelle, and Stephanie; six great-grandchildren: Seth, Alexis, Todd Jr., Sydney, Berkley, Trey. He is also survived by his brother, Harold, and half brother, Ross McMullin. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stanford Stirling. John Clair Stanford 'Forever Loved' John Clair Stanford, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away December 6, 2004 surrounded by members of his family. He courageously fought the ravages of diabetes for 11 years. He met his challenge with great faith, strength and determination that characterized his life. John was born October 9, 1939 in Bell, California. His heritage was centered in Ogden/Hooper area of Utah. He was the only son of Thelborn James (Bun) Stanford and Norma Verness Belnap. His education was in Calfornia. Among his early achievements, he served as Student Body President in 1957 at La Puente High School. As school President he fought for prayer in the assemblies and was an advocate against crime and gangs on campus. He was a track star and loved all sports. He attended Mt. Sac College in Walnut, California. He began his career in the J. C. Penney Co. in 1958 at the West Covina Store. Because of his skills a qualifications he became their first Operations Manager. In his 23 years with Penny's he opened large stores in Bountiful, Utah, Boulder, Colorado, Miami and Pompano Beach, Florida. John married Peggy Sprunger Forester in Boca Raton, Florida July 16, 1976. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on July 8, 1980. Together they blended seven children from previous marriages. John and Peggy were married for 281/2 years. After leaving Penneys, they moved to Salt Lake City in 1982 where he was employed by ZCMI. During his 13 years with ZCMI he worked in the downtown store, Cottonwood and St. George where he was the store manager. While in St. George, John served as President of the Retail Merchants Association, served in The Chamber of Commerce, was on The Downtown Redevelopment Board and served as co-chairman on Dixie Medical Jubilee House Committee. He taught many seminars, workshops and classes in the areas of security and retail management for The Chamber of Commerce, Retail Merchants Association and Dixie College. John then returned to Salt Lake to manage the ZCMI flagship store downtown. He was always proud of "America's First Department Store", and loved his associates, whom he considered as family. Especially close to his heart was The Tiffin Room. In 1980 John co-authored a book on retail, "American Dream Realized." Since his illness in 1994 to present, he was never able to return to ZCMI, but achieved other things: including partnering a small retail store, "Mirage of Utah", authored a retail program for a community college, guest lecturer for a class at Westminster College, and stayed in touch with the world by learning the computer with the help of his sons. His wonderful mind was clear to the end. He was vocal on politics and religion and loved both. Most special to him were his children, he loved talking with his grandchildren and lived for their hugs. A dedicated member of The LDS Church, even through hard times, he served faithfully wherever called, including Young Men's President, Home Teacher, Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader, Counselor in Bishopric and stake presidency, taught early morning seminary, Gospel Doctrine and was Stake Mission Pres. He was ordained a High Priest at age 23. Surviving are his loving wife, Peggy and children: Jeffery, Salt Lake, Lori (Rick) Warburton, Tremonton, Lonny (Jessica) Saratoga Springs, Glen(Chanin), Washington D.C., Michael (Charla), SLC, Stephanie (Jay) Harrison, SLC, stepson, Christopher (Lori) Forester, Florida; stepdaughter, Stephanie Forester (deceased) 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sisters, Roma Anderson (deceased) Marian (Bill) Felt, Aumsville, OR, niece, Sheryl (Manuel) Ortiz, Irwindale, Cal. Hugh Ensign Thomas St. George -- Hugh Ensign Thomas, 84, passed away December 6th, 2004, quietly at home. Hugh was born in Gannett Idaho, July 7th, 1920. He was born to Elizabeth Irene Bailey and William Ensign Thomas. He graduated from Jordan High in Sandy, Utah. He joined the CCC in 1939 then the AirCorp in the 18th pursuit squadron till September 1945. He married Beatrice Vivian Turner in 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Hugh Retired from McCullough div. of Varion in 1985. He is preceded in death by his wife Bea , who passed away in 1991. Survivors include brother, Jerry Thomas, CA, Sisters Joyce Anderson and Joan Johnson, stepdaughter, Wilma Spivack, of Syracuse Utah, Step Grandchildren, Pamela Spivack, Jim Spivack, Gay Treadwell.
