Funeral directors -- Mosdell Mortuary. Marguerite Monks Liddell She was born in Roosevelt, Utah on May 11, 1928 to Frank and Iva Marsing Monks. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1946. After attending college for a short time, she returned to the family farm located on South Myton Bench to help her parents. It was there that she met Frank Liddell, a neighboring farmer, whom she later married on November 28, 1950 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Margie gave the term 'home-maker' true meaning. She had a great love of cooking and it was common for those who stopped by to be greeted by a wonderful aroma coming from the kitchen. She took care of a large yard which included a vegetable garden that kept getting a little larger each year as she experimented with different ways in which to grow her favorite melons. She was also very fond of growing roses and they always had a prominent place in her yard. She inherited her father's talent for oil painting but never pursued that, choosing instead to learn many different handicrafts including sewing, crocheting, knitting and tole painting. As her three daughters grew older and the farm grew larger, she devoted more of her time to helping her husband with the farm. When the family expanded to include grandchildren, her home was their favorite place to visit and spend the night. Later on, as they made the transition to young adults, it became a place where they always knew they were welcome to stay as long as they needed to. Many cherished memories were made at "Grandma's house." In 1991, Marguerite left the Uinta Basin, the place she had always called home, and moved to St. George with her husband to spend their retirement years. Marguerite is survived by her daughters, Shauna Lindsay of Apple Valley, UT; Lori (Howard) Brinkerhoff of Altamont, UT; Melanie Liddell of St. George, UT; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Calvin J. Monks of Myton, UT. She was preceded in death by Frank, her husband of 48 years; her parents; her brother Ted; and her loyal (Shih-Tzu) companion, Bangee. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Comfort Cottage for the loving care given to Marguerite during the final months of her life; and to the hospice people who assisted her as she departed this earth. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at the Hullinger Mortuary in Roosevelt, Utah at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
