Ron Black ST. GEORGE -- Ron Black, 65, passed away Monday, November 15, 2004 at his home in St. George after a valiant struggle with cancer. He was born November 18, 1938 to Denzil L. and Mary Ann Hawkins Black. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. After serving in the Navy, Ron lived in Reno and Las Vegas for 20 years. He then returned to Ogden. For the past eight years he enjoyed living and working in St. George. Ron loved to golf and travel. He was very friendly and he had many friends. Surviving are two daughters, Debra Kelson, Ogden; Tammy (Kevin) Cuddmore, Mississippi; and four grandchildren, Justin, Nicholas, Chelese, and Shelby. Also surviving are his mother Mary A. Black of St. George; special aunts and uncle, Edith Hansen, Ogden; Jim and Beulah Hawkins, Reno, NV; and many cherished cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Ron will always be in our hearts. Graveside services were held on Friday, November 19, 2004 at Ogden City Cemetery under the direction of Myers Mortuary, Ogden. Jean Davenport Kanab -- Una G. "Jean" Davenport, age 77, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2004 in Cedar City, Utah. She was born April 27, 1927 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Mary Louise Null and Alvis Dewey Adams. She married Robert Lonz Davenport on November 23, 1945 in Riverside, California. They lived in California, Oregon, Panguitch and finally moved to Kanab in 1977. He passed away June 2, 1991. Jean is survived by son and daughter-in-law Barry and Arlene Davenport of Panguitch, Utah; daughter and son-in-law Linda and John Pert of Enoch, Utah; daughter-in-law Lin Davenport of Page, Arizona; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Davenport, son Robert Grant Davenport, grandson Robert Davenport, and brother Orvil Adams. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 3:00 PM in the Kanab Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday at Mosdell Mortuary from 2:00-2:45 PM. Christa Ruth Hoffmann St. George -- Christa Ruth Hoffman, beloved wife, mother and grandmother; passed away in an automobile accident on November 20, 2004. She was born December 14, 1948 in Hamburg, Germany, to Gerhard and Waltraud Kunkel. She loved to live life to the fullest by traveling, showing her creative talents through arts and crafts, and church service. She is survived by her loving husband Fritz Hoffmann, her parents, three brothers, five children and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Winchester Hills Chapel. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 300 W. St. George Blvd., and on Wednesday, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. prior to services at the Winchester Hills Chapel. Marcella Nadine Lanza CEDAR CITY -- Marcella Nadine Lanza, 66, passed away November 21, 2004 in Cedar City, UT. She was born March 27, 1938 in Cedar City, UT to Albert Rice and Julia John. She married Randall Lanza Sr. March 16, 1968 in Los Angeles, CA. Marcella attended Cedar High School and Phoenix Indian School. Most of her life was spent in Los Angeles, where she retired from L.A. County General Hospital. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Marcella is survived by her husband Randall of Cedar City, UT; children Randall Lanza Jr., Stewart Lanza, Vernon Craig Lanza and Mark Lee Lanza all of Cedar City, UT; 10 grandchildren; and brother Billy Rice of Hurricane, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jessie Jacks Growler, and brothers Jackie Jacks and Homer Rice. Friends and family may visit Tuesday, November 23, 2004 from 5:00 -- 8:00 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary.
